I adored The Hating Game and I was worried I wouldn't enjoy this book because of my high expectations but I did!

A great romance book, I really enjoyed the tropes and found myself rooting for the couple! Thank you net galley for the review copy!

I feel like Sally Thorne is a huge name in the romance genre, so I was excited to finally be picking up one of her books, and for the most part, I was not disappointed! I really enjoyed the writing style of this, and although I couldn't hugely relate to Ruthie's personality, that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the book at all, which I actually think is a huge testament to Thorne as an author, because I feel like this is hard to achieve. I thought the little community that Ruthie found herself in, with the two sisters, and her coworker, to be very endearing, and exactly what she needed. I did find the back and forth between Ruthie and Teddy to be too much at times, and once again, their huge blowout fight towards the end did just feel a bit ridiculous, but it didn't really take away from my overall enjoyment in reading Second First Impressions. I will definitely be picking up Thorne's other books when I can!

Another late feedback posting from me, sorry. Not sure why original feedback didn’t actually post??

Sally Thorne! Boy was I excited to receive an advanced copy of this. I’d read The Hating Game and wanted to read it again. A brilliant book. So a second offering by the same author? Yes please!

The problem with having such a huge hit, like The Hating Game, is having to follow it up. I feel for the author, cos that must have been a mammoth task.

I like that the author made Second First Impressions so different to her previous book. The setting, the characters, the chemistry…but I feel like something was missing with this book. I tried to judge this book purely on its own merits and not make comparisons, but it was hard not to when The Hating Game was so HUGE!

I read this, I liked it. The characters were nice. The setting was good. I didn’t dislike it…it just didn’t blow me away like THG.

I am looking forward to the authors next release. I have a good feeling about it!!

4 Stars!

I cannot tell you the distress I had when I first started reading this, I genuinely didn't know if I was going to like it, but here we are and I am happy to say that YES, I enjoyedddd!

Also I love Teddy.

In fact Teddy and Ruthie as a whole were just the sweetest pair. I just loved that Teddy liked Ruthie how she was and she didn't need to change even though she felt like an old lady stuck in a 25 year olds body.

FRIENDS TO LOVERSSSSSSS

DNF at 35% - I didn't care enough about the relationship to carry on. There were also some annoying format errors

I absolutely loved this book! The premise immediately hooked my interest and it was filled with twisty characters and such intense plot!

I don't remember the last time I giggled so much over a book. The dialogues are hilarious, and the Perloni sisters are super cute!

This was a bit of a weird one for me! It was so easy to get stuck in, the writing is easily digestible and the way we are introduced to all the characters kept me interested.

BUT I didn’t like them! The only character I really felt had any depth or pizzazz was Melanie, Ruthie especially felt quite lacklustre to me as a bit of a wet rag of a character… Even Teddy didn’t really pique my interest as a romantic lead until 70% of the way through.

There was a lot of to and fro between Ruthie and Teddy’s problems which made them seem quite similar and unlikeable! I also really didn’t like the way that Renata treated Teddy through the book, even though we see her growth I feel she could have been written less offensively. Whilst she redeems herself towards the end and the big gay love story arc comes in, it doesn’t make up for the blatant objectification and humiliation earlier on.

I did. really like the idea of the retirement home setting and the tortoises! I wish more had been made of the crime aspect though as it felt a little bit like it was just tacked on the end.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Piatkus @ Little Brown for this e-ARC! Xx

This book is perfect summer read, full of good vibes.
It’s a nice quick read for holiday, this book is not as good as the hating game but I still enjoyed it

This book was so cute OMG! I found it a little slow in the beginning and the setting of assisted living didn’t really appeal to me but I loved it! The couple in this were to die for and I could imagine every scene. Honestly, they should make this a movie. The elderly couple you could really sense their characters. I would highly recommend this book!

“I’m terrified of change and making a bad decision”

“There’s a whole world out there for you if you want it.”

A love story set in a retirement complex is about as sweet and comical as you can get. Ruthie is old before her time and has forgotten what it is to be young and live her life. Teddy may not have quite lived up to his potential and found the best path but the two together provide this story it’s couple and these a characters a life that is enriched by each other and the older people surrounding them.

I really enjoyed this book, it kept me entertained and I read it in a couple of days, it’s certainly one to take with you to the beach this summer

I enjoyed this book but I didn't love it, there were really sweet and funny moments but I did find the MCs a little irritating at times (and not in a good way).

It would be a good beach read though, worth packing away for your summer holidays.

Bite size review: awkward girl meets confident bad boy who is out of her league. Obviously falls for him anyway. They live & work in a retirement home which leads to some funny moments and they save turtles.
Not my favourite of the predictable romance books but it was fiiiiine.

If you love rom-coms that completely consume you and your thoughts then this is the book for you. It’s genuinely funny, swoon worthy and full of beautiful romance. Ruthie and Teddie have so many layers to them they’re brilliant characters.
