This was a really cool idea, with short stories about time travel and each one having a definite queer theme. I really liked most of the stories, and found the length of the collection to be good as well. I wish some were extended to a full book!

Such a lovely collection of short stories. Some I found okay but most were utterly amazing. Especially the romance in the book shop and the magic traveling stone!

I highly recommend this book, it is great to dip in and out of over a few weeks, I used them as my own bed time stories!

Excellent collection!! I needed some short stories to get me out of my reading slump and this did the trick. The first story, "Roadside Attraction," was a great opener, but I think my favorites were "I Remember Satellites" (currently on a quest to read everything Sarah Gailey has ever written) and "Timed Obsolescence" (masterful second-person narrative, really stood out).

An interesting concept albeit one that I had difficulty fulling getting into. I think there's a great deal of room for expanded romance in science fiction, nd anthologies such as this could be a valuable way of exploring that prospect.

Someone in Time is a fantastic anthology. Each story offers something unique and fun. Clever, amusing, brilliantly written, this book is a true gem! Each story is a delight. My own personal favorites are "First Aid" by Seanan McGuire, "Kronia" by Elizabeth Hand, and "A Letter to Merlin" bye Theodora Goss. If you enjoy time travel stories with some romance, this is a must-read.

Book review :

Someone in Time features sixteen stories. These wonderful tales are joined by stories of scientists falling forward and backward in time, using both elaborate machines and something not a lot unlike the dreaming of those classic tales of the 19th century to visit alternate versions of the past, to touch people who would otherwise be out of reach, and to join them together. Some of the stories are funny, some are sad and poignant, some are tales of fresh love and some of love forever lost, but they all are rather wonderful.

Romance itself is something that’s open to interpretation. There are straightforward matters of the heart and there are literary and scientific romances of many kinds. Many stories is a mix—matters of the heart blending with matters of the world. For the most part, though, I think you will find, as I did, stories that delight and bring a lot of joy.

Exploring these tales was quite adorable. They left quite an impression on me. I’m glad I got to read this even if I was a bit late and I’ll definitely recommend to anyone who likes stories about love.

Happy Reading!

The thing that drew me to this anthology is the concept of finding your soulmate and intertwining it with the idea of time travel, and I have to say that this was quite a lot of fun. The authors explore themes like love, loss, second chances and more and it made me laugh, cry and just feel so much. There were quite a few stories which I enjoyed but I definitely enjoyed Alix E. Harrow and Zen Cho’s stories the most with Alix’s stunning prose and Cho’s concept of that one true love. They left quite an impression on me. I’m glad I got to read this even if I was a bit late and I’ll definitely recommend to anyone who likes stories about love.

One of the best anthologies I've ever read. Great takes on the concept of time travel and relationship dynamics in each. Highly recommended!

It is always really hard for me to review short story anthologies. Each story hits differently and so I sometimes think that it is unfair to try and make an overall review of the entire collection. However, I will still try.

I am fascinated by the idea of time travelling (and I love that here it was combined with love stories) and I really liked how the theme was approached differently by the different authors. After reading the anthology, I really felt like I would love to see some of the stories extended into novellas or maybe even novels… They were that good! Also, I loved to see such diverse and inclusive love stories included in this anthology!

I was already acquainted with the works of some of the authors in this anthology, but I was pleasantly surprised to have discovered so many new authors whose work I will definitely check out in the future!

Thank you to @netgalley and @rebellionpublishing for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

I enjoyed this collection of short stories that are based on time travel. A good collection which I think most people will enjoy.

Really enjoyed reading this collection of short stories by various authors, each exploring time travel in some way. I loved the variety, and that each writer explored their own preoccupations supported by imaginative logical worlds. While covering a broad range of stories by a diverse set of writers, never far from each story is the universal questions at the heart of being human.

Many thanks to the publisher for a complimentary copy.

Short story collections are always going to live or die by the quality of the stories contained within. There are some crackers in here but some duds too. I enjoyed the stories by Alix E. Harrow, Catherynne M. Valente and Nina Allan in particular, There's some great LGBTQ rep in the collection too. Definitely a collection worth checking out if you enjoy Sci-Fi/time travel stories.

I found the stories interesting and tried my best to finish, but somehow that urgency or curiosity was lacking to help me read through all the stories in this anthology... DNF

Couldn't get into this, I think I just can't do anthologies, I like to focus on one longer story rather than a variety of shorter stories. DNF from me.

Oh my word! I loved this so much! TBH I didn't get a chance to finish it(cause life) but what I did read was fantastic and I can't stop thinking about it! The stories were so creative and thought provoking! I really wish I had the time to read it all but ce la vie I'll have to buy it. :)

This collection did NOT DISAPPOINT. Every author understood the assignment, truly. The love stories in here made me feel so much. I had a great time with almost all of the stories and I discovered so many great authors! The standouts for me were Time Gypsy, A Letter to Merlin, Romance : Historical and I Remember Satellites. One of the things that I loved about this collection was how everything fit so perfectly together. Every story was at the right place in the book and every one deserved to be in the collection for sure.

I love a good short story. Wait, let me clarify: I LOVE a GOOD short story.

This anthology’s concept is: love stories featuring time travel. I LOVE time travel, and though I somehow don’t always love romance as a genre I do love love stories - so I really thought this was completely up my alley but I was sadly a bit disappointed. There was a real variety in quality across the different author’s stories and as someone who is picky with short stories (actually, isn’t this everyone? lol) maybe an anthology isn’t the right choice for me. I can't stand a short story that within the first few pages blurts out "when I was 8, mom and my brother Jeff were killed in a bus accident on guam" chased half a page later with "my father died two years ago, and the longest relationship I've ever had only lasted six months". This is a direct quote from one of the stories (I can’t remember which), and such a blunt exposition tool I find boring and kind of slack.

The highlight for me was also my most anticipated story: The Lichens by Nina Allan. I think it's the only one that did a service to the short story form, or at least what I like about them, where you're dropped into someone's life and shown rather than told. The time travel element in The Lichens was eye-wateringly impossible, and the romance element was strained and longing - my favourite kind. The backstory and worldbuilding was intricate and imaginatively crafted and the payoff was satisfying. 5* for this story alone…

I appreciated seeing diverse love stories portrayed here. And some stories were just a fun romp (honourable mentions to Romance: Historical by Rowan Coleman, and Roadside Attraction by Alix E Harrow which essentially got a high passing grade for “I understood the assignment”.) But even though I love time travel stories, I think the intersection of these two concepts was a bit too niche and ambitious to get a decent set together for an anthology.

2.5 stars
