This was an enjoyable and light read, perfect for the summer time vibes and captured the struggles of being in your 20's perfectly. I could easily relate to many scenarios.

I enjoyed this book. A light entertaining read exploring life after a breakup. I think this would be a great read for the summer.

I’ve been looking forward to reading this book for such a long time after seeing a lot about it online. I’m glad I did, as it is an enjoyable book that I could read quickly. It is a book all about female friendship and feeling lost in your early twenties.

Flick has recently been dumped by her boyfriend and is feeling lost. She decides to move into a houseshare with three other girls, Stacey, Kitty and Maia. Then, during a conversation with her sister, Flick decides to create a ‘twenties list’ of things she wants to do before she turns 23. All is going well, until Flick’s boss catches wind of the list and asks her to create a magazine column documenting her progress.

There were so many things about Flick that I could relate to and I feel that helped me to enjoy the story more. She is real and authentic throughout the entire story. Flick really captures the ‘I have no idea what I am meant to be doing’ vibes of your twenties. I loved that she is from Liverpool too! Not many books have characters from the North so this was a real bonus.

I loved the Carlisle girls. Stacey, Kitty and Maia are all unique and I enjoyed finding out more about them throughout the book. Flick’s relationship with her sister Suze was so lovely to read. I could relate to their relationship because my relationship with my own sister is very similar. I would love to see more sister relationships like this in books I read in the future. Quickly, Teddy is such a gem and I adored him.

I will certainly be keeping my eyes peeled for more books by Emily Merrill. This fake-dating, finding yourself in your twenties book was so lovely and I cannot wait to see what else she releases.

Overall, I would highly recommend Heartbreak Houseshare. Especially if you are feeling a little lost in your twenties! It is an enjoyable read to get cosy with!

As a 20-something also going through the difficulties of a break-up, this book was perfect. It captured and summarised the struggles and joys that face people in their 20s. It was excellently written, comical, and would recommend to anyone who needs a little pick me up.

I know from the get-go that I would love this book, and I truly did. It's what every young 20-something needs to read, and for those a little bit older it will certainly invoke nostalgia. This is a beautiful tale of heartbreak and sharing houses, as the name suggests, but also friendship and sisterhood, career paths, being in your twenties in the 21st century. Well written, with characters you can truly relate to, this is just absolutely incredible.

I enjoyed this but I didn't love it. I love fake dating tropes and enjoyed that aspect of this book, but there were other parts that fell flat.

Having an almost life altering mid life crisis at 22 felt a little too far fetched, as 22 is relatively fresh faced. I couldn't empathise with her at all. I didn't finish this book and abandoned it at about 15 per cent.

After a breakup, Flick moves in to a houseshare in London. She starts a bucket list of things to do in your twenties, and part of that is meeting Teddy - what starts as fake dating might lead to more.

I loved this one and laughed all the way through. Very similar to Sophie Kinsella and very light-hearted. A quick easy read to enjoy on a summer’s day, sitting in the garden. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Books like this make me realise again why I love reading, totally enjoyable with no hassles attached, loved it. A warm, funny, uplifting writer to celebrate.

I liked this, but sadly I didn't LOVE it. It was a very cute story, and the meet-cute fake-dating tropes were well done. But sadly I couldn't respect someone having a crisis in their 20s and having to re-assess their whole life at the ripe old age of 22... 22. If anything it made me think like my life was even less put-together. Overall I would recommend for a feel-good, easy read.

This was such a good read. It felt raw, relatable, resonating and honest. I absolutely raced through this and I’d happily read more.

I ended up DNFing this book around 50% in not because it's not an enjoyable book but moreover because I don't think I was the targeted audience.

I really was eager to read a book about a girls journey getting over her first real love after going through something similar myself but I could only relate to Flick (the main female character) for about the first couple chapters. I was under the impression that Flick was in her mid to late twenties and that is why she keeps going on about how she wasted her 20s but it turns out she's 22 going on 23 and I ultimately DNFed because you cannot complain about missing out on your twenties when you are just really starting your twenties. In addition, everything in Flick's world seems to be coming together wonderfully. Even though she had a heart break we quickly move to her finding success in her job and article, a fake boyfriend, really good friends in the house share and a really good family and support network. So personally as soon as I was 50% in I was like the world is actually going great for Flick and this feels unbelievable for a 22 year old to have this much order and goodness in their life. I was expecting more focus on the heartbreak and journey to recover but everything is wrapped up so quickly and nicely that I just couldn't relate and was unengaged.

I expected a story about about a heart break and the journey to dealing with that heartbreak. As much as I love the fake date for an article trope I didn't want it from this book and it was oddly weird for a 22 year old to be acting out that trope.

So unfortunately not for me.

DNF 25%

From what I read of this book, it was well written, however the pacing was just so slow! I couldn’t relate to any of the characters (maybe because I’m a few years older?) & the MC’s problems annoyed me rather than made me empathise. Unfortunately just not for me.

Let's meet our leading lady Flick. Who has just finished university and is trying but failing to climb the career ladder. Flick thought things where a struggle and then her boyfriend decides to dump her out of nowhere and now wants her out of the house asat.

With no other options and needing to find somewhere to live quickly Flick ends up needing to move into a houseshare with three complete strangers.

Thinking that this is the worst thing ever. Flick is pleasently surprised when her housemates are exactly the tonic that she needs to be able to navigate the ups and downs of her new life and to help her wing it until she finds her feet again.

Deciding it is time to get her life and her act together Flick decides to write a list of all yh things she wants to achieve in her twenties. Her boss soon gets wind of the bucket list and decides that is is the up coming thing that the magazine needs.

Here follows meet-cutes, funny moments, life affirming moments, friendship, love and discovery that nobody has their shit together in life.

This is a good book. It is a coming of age book, learning to adapt book, rom com and chick lit.

This was a fluffy, feel-good romance that left me with a warm feeling. Although it wasn't my favourite, I definitely like it for the most part and would recommend it to those looking for an easy read.

Thank you to the publisher for kindly providing me with an ARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This was a great book. Flick the main character is likeable and you really root for her to get a happy ending after her heartbreak and past.. I loved watching the romance blossom and grow between her and Carlisle. I loved how no character was pointless and everyone had a purpose
