I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide me review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

What a lovely, funny book! A well-written book that put a smile on my face! I found it very interesting and insightful in its description of family dynamics. I thoroughly enjoyed all the characters. I found them all warm and kind people. I highly recommend it!

It's not often that a hen weekend occurs 20 years before the actual wedding but in Shelley's case that is how it turns out.

We meet Shelley first in the present day, not long before her wedding ceremony is at long last due to start.

From there we are treated to reminisces of Shelley's younger years, leading up to and including the hen weekend to Mallorca, which i think changed the course of everyone's lives.

It's not the most regular bunch of hens, from an 18 year old "third cousin", to her aunty Nancy who she doesn't know that well, but how has agreed to host various family members for the weekend.

It's not the regular groups you getting going to Palma or Magaluf, that's for sure. But that just adds to the hilarity of some of the images conjured up

For me reading this by a pool in Mallorca, getting to the bit where the ladies are dressed as the Spice Girls, and then hearing "Spice Up Your Life" being played poolside, made the book even more immersive for me.

This was funny, it was touching in places, it was life changing but above all this is one incredibly fun read that I adored.

Thank you to HarperCollins and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Tracy Bloom is a powerhouse in the chick lit genre. I love her ‘no one ever has sex’ series so of course wanted to read this and she does not disappoint!

Tracy has an excellent talent at bringing guttural laughs out of me in ways that other authors can’t.

This was a laugh out loud story full of wonderful characters. The underlying theme of friendship and importance of family and friends was clear but without feeling preachy.

Just a fab instalment from a fab author!

I'm a huge Tracy Bloom fan. She writes witty female centred stories that are often very poignant. The Weekend Before the Wedding is no different.

Shelly is engaged to the most eligible bachelor Colin. Shortly before the wedding she goes on her hen weekend to her Aunty Nancy's villa in Spain with her nearest and dearest who happen to be a very motley crew. What follows is the most bonkers and hilarious few days told in only the way Tracy Bloom can.

This is the perfect book for popping in your suitcase for your beach holiday.

As per usual Tracy Bloom is a legend! I have no idea why I haven't written my review yet!

The wedding weekend is exactly what you expect from one of Tracy's books funny from start to finish. I was hooked

'Mamma Mia meets Bridesmaids in a laugh-out-loud, life affirming comedy

One weekend, one bride-to-be, what could possibly go wrong…

All Shelley wanted on her hen weekend was to enjoy three days of sun, sea and sangria. But instead of being surrounded by the A-team of her closest friends, she somehow ends up with a Golden Girls-meets-the-Spice Girls B-list that includes her mother, a rebellious teenager, and a best mate ‘on the verge’.

The squabbling starts at the airport, and on arrival in Spain, Shelley barely has time to unpack her suitcase before getting an unwanted text ̶ one that throws her wedding into doubt.

Shelley has got a BIG decision to make, but her unruly medley of nearest and dearest seem determined to confuse matters with their own problems.

Have they got what it takes to get her through the most important weekend of her life?'

Highly recommend. Pick up a copy and have a good read. It's a great book to take on holiday and truly relax to.

Thank you netgalley, Avon and Tracy Bloom for the ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review.

This was a laugh out loud moments type of book full of wonderful characters. All the different personalities coming together but showing what entertaining exploits they can get up too. The underlying theme of friendship and importance of family and friends was clear but without feeling preachy.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The story starts with Shelley about to get married but looking back at a hen party trip many years ago - I'm not sure this timeline trickery was necessary, it didn't seem to add anything as the final twist became predictable during the story. The story of the hen party was funny, there were lots of comical moments and realistic relationship discussions. Shelley's character was less credible to me; I'm not revealing any spoilers but her behaviour when seeing Colin in the nightclub and around the text was surprisingly low-key. That said this book was definitely a fun, light read and I have no hesitation in recommending it as I'm signing up to follow this author on Amazon and Bookbub after reading this story.

Shelley’s having a hen weekend, with a very unusual group of women.
It turns out to life changing for everyone…but not in a way they might’ve imagined.
A great fun book!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this book for review.

The Weekend Before the Wedding was an enjoyable, light (in a good way!) read.
Set over two timelines: the present day as Shelley dresses for her wedding, and twenty years earlier on her hen party.

Shelleys’s best friend organises a weekend in Spain at Shelley’s aunts house, joined by her very serious mum, her other aunt and Shelley’s cousin.

It doesn’t get off to a great start from the moment they all meet at the airport, and it gets worse when they arrive in Spain.

Shelley’s very rich fiancé is staying in an exclusive hotel nearby, with his family and a friend. On their first night in Spain, Shelley gets a very strange text message from his phone.

This is a hilarious book with some great, relatable characters (particularly the aunt that uses a mobility scooter - she gave me Benidorm flashbacks!). It portrayed the importance of good friends and family who all support one another.

I’d definitely recommend this as a pick me up!

A great laugh out loud easy read; great characters and setting. You will feel for the main leading lady, Shelley.

Shelley is on her hen weekend with her best friends, but also accompanied by her mother, aunt and young rebellious cousin. A riotous weekend follows and Shelley's faith in her fiancé is put to the test; he also is in the same resort for his do!

How will things end? A happy ending?? Read it and find out!

Another great book from Tracy Bloom; I will read more!

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Tracy Bloom is back with a hilarious and feel-good new novel that will make readers roar with laughter and have them wiping away a tear or two: The Weekend Before the Weekend.

Shelley had been looking forward to her hen weekend for months. She wanted to enjoy three days in Spain where she got to top up her tan, swim in crystal blue waters, sip a couple of cocktails and have the time of her life with her closest friends. Unfortunately, fate seemed to have other ideas in store for her because rather than living it up in Spain with her best mates, she is accompanied on her hen weekend by her mother, a rebellious teenager and a best friend who seems less than enthusiastic about this trip. What could possibly go wrong? Quite a lot as it happens…

As the arguments begin before they’ve even left the departures lounge, Shelley finds herself counting the hours until her hen weekend draws to a close. But there are more shocks and surprises in store for the bride to be because she has barely unpacked her suitcase when she gets a text that ends up throwing her wedding in doubt. What is Shelley going to do now?

With her nearest and dearest all having their own problems to contend with, Shelley finds herself forced to make some big decisions about her future. Will she manage to get through this hen weekend and have the happy ending she has always wanted? Or will heartache and disappointment be all Shelley has to look forward to?

The Weekend Before the Wedding is an enjoyable and entertaining treat from Tracy Bloom. Full of laugh out loud moments and realistic situations that will have readers everywhere nodding in recognition, The Weekend Before the Wedding is a fun and uplifting read I couldn’t bear to put down.

With The Weekend Before the Wedding, Tracy Bloom effortlessly juggles humour, heart and pathos in one irresistible page-turner that simply cannot fail to brighten up every reader’s day!

I was so excited to start reading this book and I wasn't disappointed Having read Tracy Bloom's last book The Wife Who Got A Life - I wasn't disappointed. The story starts with Shelley in present day about to get married. Reminiscing back to 1999, when she was getting invited to other people's weddings without any site of her own on the horizon. Then she reluctantly attends a wedding where she met Colin who happens to be good looking, nice and extremely rich. Shelly thinks she doesn't stand a chance with him so she doesn't try to impress and just decided to be herself thinking she'll never see him again. Being herself was just what Colin was looking for and so the two decide to get married. Shelley is going to make the most of this and luckily her Aunt Nancy lives in Majorca, so where better to attend a hen weekend except she's going with her mum Peggy who is blunt and says it like it is and disapproves of most things including her own sister and Shelley's Aunt Nancy, Shelley's cousin Rosalind who disapproves of her own mother Aunt Nancy, her own teenager Chloe and Shelley's best friend nd thinks they should be visiting a teapot museum!
The book mostly chronicles the highs and lows and fallouts of the weekend with a few drinks, karaoke, a foam party and thankfully no museum. Needless to say not everyone gets on with everyone and the fallouts are hilarious. This is a real laugh out loud book about female friendship or not as the case may be. It's an escapist read and definitely one to take on your holidays for a bit of pure indulgence.

With thanks to Netgalley for this preview in return for an honest review

I'm a big fan of Tracy Bloom's novels and I wasn't disappointed by The Weekend Before the Wedding.

Shelley is preparing for her long-awaited wedding and reflects on her journey to this moment with lots of highs and lows and hilarity!

The hen party was without a doubt the highlight of the story for me - the coming together of these very different women on a real journey with lots of laugh out loud moments!

This is an extremely funny and clever book to read.

The characters are incredibly entertaining and completely relatable and believable.

You notice how each one of them changes (for the better) as you follow their antics on the hen weekend.

There's a strong theme of the importance of family and friends and women supporting each other against a lovely backdrop in Spain and some drama on that hen weekend twenty years ago!

A really fun, funny and easy read.
