This is an action packed police procedural. The characters are realistic and flawed. There is tension that builds throughout the plot. This is a good fast paced thriller.

Wow ! This is the fifth in the DCI Rob Miller series. What a great read ! Gripping from start to finish, this series just gets better and better ! Highly recommend!

I dislike starting a series in the middle of it or the end of it, but I didn't pay attention to find out that it was a series. I didn't feel lost and didn't feel like I missed out on anything, which I loved.

Det. Rob Miller receives a phone call while helping his partner out with their baby from his friend and retired Chief Superintendent Lawrence. Lawrence had asked Rob to meet up with him, but was unable to do so. The next call that came in was about a homicide scene, but Det. Miller wasn't working on call that night. When he informed the dispatcher she stated that she though that he would want to know since it was his friend Lawrence. Rob starts investigating and continues to hear about one person over and over.

I enjoyed the mystery and what was going to happen. It kept me captivated and wanted to know what was going to happen.

A superb read. I had actually just bought this book as I had a later one in the series and wanted to start a new series from the start. It only when I popped here I realised I had an Arc of this so how did I not read it sooner.
This is going to be a brilliant series if this first book is anything to go by.
A great storyline, interesting but not overly complicated. Great characters that I can see developing over the series. This is an author to watch for. I’ll be going in to book 2 asap.

Great police drama that is fast paced and keeps you guessing. How does a police officer handle the untimely death of his mentor? DCI Miller is called to investigate the death of his mentor, Detective Chief Superintendent Sam Lawrence . As DCI Miller investigates this murder he stumbles into a child trafficking case. Can the two be related? This is my first Biba Pearce book and I definitely plan on reading more from this author. #TheSouthBankMurders

Thoroughly enjoyed this follow up book by Biba Pearce featuring Detective Rob Miller and team investigating the killer of his former retired Chief Superintendent Lawrence. I would recommend this book to all who love thrillers and would tell them to read the previous books in the series.

This is the fifth book in the series featuring Detective Rob Miller. I hadn’t read the previous books but thoroughly enjoyed this as a stand-alone. Rob, and his partner Jo, are both police officers and have recently moved in together after having a baby son. They are juggling childcare when Rob receives a phone call in the night to receive the devastating news that his friend, mentor and old boss Chief Superintendent Sam Lawrence has been shot dead. What upsets Rob more was that he had only been speaking to him an hour ago when Sam had asked Rob to meet him but he had had to decline due to baby duties. Rob arrives at the crime scene early and sees that there has been two other shootings in the restaurant, the owner and a known criminal. Rob decides to remove Sam’s mobile phone before anyone gets to the scene as it may have vital evidence but knows it is against all the rules. Rob and his team are eager to find this killer but their current boss thinks they are all too close to the case but they decide, unbeknown to him, to continue their own investigation. A body of a young man is washed up by the Thames with an unusual tattoo on his wrist. Rob and his team suspect he is an asylum seeker. Other bodies turn up with the same tattoo and the name Wolf keeps being mentioned and they realise that there are links to drugs and trafficking. But how are the two cases linked? This is a gripping, fast paced book with lots of twists and turns. A highly recommended read.

Very enjoyable 5th installment to a James Patterson-esque series!
I enjoyed the fast pace with this book, the characters are more grown and filled in than they were in the beginning of the series.

I did listen to a bit of the audiobook as well and it was great!

I would recommend this to any mystery and suspense lover out there!

The South Bank Murders’ is the fifth instalment of a series, which features Detective Inspector Rob Miller. I read and loved the first four books in the series and so when I heard that Biba was due to release a fifth book, I knew that I had to read it as soon as I could get my hands on a copy. Well ladies and gents, I managed to get my hands on a copy and I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it, but more about that in a bit.
I rather like the character of Detective Inspector Rob Miller. He is an experienced career police officer. He leads from the front and he doesn’t ask anybody to do anything that he wouldn’t be willing to do himself. Miller is settled with a partner and they have a baby together. Miller thinks that perhaps things moved quicker than he had intended but he seems happy with things the way they are. One of the murders featured in this book is personal to Miller as the victim is his former superior officer Chief Superintendent Sam Lawrence, who had retired from the force. He was both a friend and a colleague and Miller feels his loss deeply. Miller is determined that he will do everything he can to track down the killer. What happens? Well for the answer to that question and so much more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
As soon as I started reading, I immediately felt that I had reunited with old friends in the form of Miller and his team. I made the fatal mistake of starting to read the book shortly before I went to bed. Let’s just say that bedtime was delayed and I had a distinct ‘lack of sleep’ hangover the following morning but it was so worth it. This was one of those books that stayed with me whether I had the Kindle in my hand or not. If I wasn’t reading the book, then I was thinking about it. If I had to put the book to one side for any reason then I would immediately look forward to being able to pick the book up again. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the story. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘The South Bank Murders’ and I had to say farewell to Miller and his team. I found ‘The South Bank Murders’ to be a gripping and tense read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.
‘The South Bank Murders’ is extremely well written but then I have come to expect nothing else from Biba Pearce. She certainly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and draw them into what proves to be one hell of a story. For me the story hit the ground running and maintained a fairly fast pace throughout. Reading ‘The South Bank Murders’ felt a bit like being on an at times scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. I love the way in which Biba makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action.
In short I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The South Bank Murders’ and I would recommend it to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Biba’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Enjoyed reading this book. The plot twists and turns sustained interest. The description of London locations added credibility to the story. I would recommend this author and the series as good reads.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would recommend it. It had lots of twists and turns and kept me guessing until the very end. It was well written and I look forward to Biba Pearce's next book.

This book was filled with suspense and edge of your seat moments. It was well plotted. Not only did it depict the murders on the south bank of the Thames River, but it also gave the reader a picture of the personal life of Rob Miller, the police officer in charge of the murder investigations and the story's protagonist. I highly recommend this book to other police procedural readers.

Rob and his team were awesome in cracking the mystery to this story. Will and Mike were an awesome assets to Rob’s team. There are some heart pounding moments to the story, such Rob and his team going into the housing wards to search down Torch and how every turn could be your last. The writer was pretty good at providing the much needed details of explaining why Rob or Mike did this or that. I can say the the story played like a movie to me, basically the book has some realism to it. I found all the characters very interesting. Robs team has a good connection with one another. The entertainment and action was suspenseful and thrilling.

When a suspect is killed in custody and another youth turns up dead, it’s clear this is not the work of some amateur criminal, but someone with terrifying reach — and the name they keep hearing mentioned is the Wolf. Wow…!… I caught myself holding my breath more than once, genuinely worried about what would happen next… a breathless read!

Princess Fuzzypants here: This story does not stop from the beginning chapter where sleep deprived Rob first gets a call from his former mentor and then from another cop letting him know that his mentor has been murdered. Rob and his fellow coppers fight to be given the case when another body is found. This time ts is a young refugee who has been shot and then flung into the Thames. Initially it looks like they are two separate cases but the more they uncover, the more connections they discover.

When another young refugee is found floating in the Thames, their efforts intensify. The two centres of activity seem to be a housing project in Southwark and a home that houses refuges who arrive alone in the UK. There is some suspicions that the gang boss and the person who runs the shelter might be involved in all this but Rob soon realizes there is a big boss. And everyone, from the smallest cog to the biggest baddie, is terrified of this person. It is going to take some excellent police work and a lot of danger before the villain is taken to task. And when the whole mess is revealed, there will be some shocking discoveries.

Well paced and exciting, I did have some suspicion but it was still a thrill ride to the end. I am going to look out for this series. The book is fine as a stand alone but if this is any indication of the writing, I am going to want to read more. Five purrs and two paws up.

British police procedural!

Well paced contemporary British crime novel. It starts with a phone call to DCI Miller, sleep deprived proud new father that he is. His mentor retired Detective Chief Superintendent Sam Lawrence wants a meetup. Miller passes. The next phone call in the middle of the night is to report Sam’s death. The Putney Major Investigation team want the case but their new Super decides it’s to be handed over to another group. After a few false starts, Putney gets the case. Great, as they’d all been working on it anyway. Things get complicated when another murder case, that of a young boy, appears to cross into this investigation. In between the drug dealing, child trafficking and who knows what else the team have their hands full.
The revealed truth was something I’d wondered about beforehand. There’s another seemingly uptight person I’m having thoughts about. I still wonder who the guy outside the mobile shop was—he didn’t fit the homeless pattern. Mmm!
A quick read, fast and furious, with several moving parts that could’ve easily ramped out of control, but didn’t.

This book was not at all what i exspected it to be. It was overall a great read, but it didnt grab my attention like all the other books ive read.

This is the fifth in the Detective Rob Miller series; it is the first I have read.
While trying to juggle the demands of being a new father, Rob and his team are investigating two cases. One is the shooting death of their beloved former supervisor while the other involves the trafficking of refugee children seeking asylum in the UK.

This is a solid British police procedural. It was an engrossing, fast read with a believable plot as well as good character development.

This works well as a standalone, but I really enjoyed it and, if I ever find time, would like to go back and read the prior books in the series.

Realistic and relatable characters make this situation more than believable. There are glimpses of DCI Rob Miller's new role as a father. Very good addition to the series.
