A nice escapist romance. The fourth in the series, all stand along just fine. Molly and Logan are the latest to find love in Cranbridge, but will their past heartaches allow them to give it a shot? I enjoy the community of Cranbridge and these stories are a nice weekend read when I need a happy story.

I’ve only recently come to Alison’s book, with last year’s “The Village Inn of Secret Dreams”, which was utterly perfect, so I was very excited to read this one.

I recognise myself so much in Molly in that I took would love to bake full-time, but no matter how good I might be at it, I do not believe I am suited to run an at-home business, especially as I’d probably ear all the profits. What really resonated was Molly being asked to make her friend’s wedding cake - which I have also been asked to do! The description of the wedding is also so beautiful, it’s like my perfect day.

The description of baked goods is so inviting. I even had to pause reading at one point as all the talk of summer days got me craving something so I had to go and bake a batch of scones to eat as I continued reading.

There are an array of characters, a full spectrum of personalities, some more likeable than others.

Beneath this warm, cosy, joyful story, there are some serious topics such as abandonment, single parenting, depression, divorce, and self-belief. This makes the story more human, more relatable.

It is a beautiful community with a beautiful heart, and I loved it. All I need to do now is figure out a way of living in an Alison Sherlock book - or at the very least, buying all of her past books so I can continue in her world for a little bit.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review.

This is the 4th in the Riverside Lane series and how delightful it was to be back in Cranbridge. This can easily be read as a standalone but for the sake of completeness I'd read the other books too.

This story centres on Molly who always puts everyone before herself and as a result finds herself incapable of saying no and has no confidence in her own abilities. Enter Logan who is smarting after the end of his marriage in spectacular style and has returned to Cranbridge to stay with Grandad Stan.

This is book #4 of the Riverside Lane series. It can be read as a standalone book but I would recommend reading them in series order for better understanding of the back stories. We return to the little village of Cranbridge and this time follow Molly's story. Molly wants to open a summer tea garden on the piece of spare land next to the village shops, but her lack of confidence may mean it never becomes anything other than a dream. I really liked Molly character and loved her baking skills even more! She's such a lovely character but it's clear her confidence needs a bit of a boost and what better way to do it than in the form of newcomer, Logan Armstrong. Logan has retreated to the village, following his very public marriage breakup, to be near his grandad, Stanley. He, again, is a lovely character but it's clear that Logan is dealing with his own personal issues also.

The book flowed along at a lovely pace allowing us to reconnect with Molly from the previous books and also getting to know Logan. It was lovely to have some of the other villagers back in this book as I enjoyed the previous books with them in. The Tea Garden storyline was well thought out and as I read I could imagine the transformation of the little overgrown patch of land to the beautifully tended garden it turned out to be. I also really enjoyed the watermill part of the story and kept everything crossed that they'd be able to get it working again. The location was beautiful and as the book is based mainly over the summer months, the warmth of the sunshine radiated through the pages!

There are lots of little stories all rolling into one throughout the book, but this was all done uncomplicatedly and the book was truly a delight to read. It was wonderful to see the difference in some of the characters, how their confidence grew as the book moved on and by the end I felt like I'd known them all for so long! This was such an easy, feel good read and it warmed my heart and lightened my day as I read. There was lots of family, friendships, love and laughter, and I honestly felt sad to finish their stories. I can't wait to see if there will be another book in the series! Lovely, lovely read which I would definitely recommend!!
