I do love a bit of a slow burn romance and this was definitely one! It gave space for us to get to know Rebecca and Jack as characters. Would defo recommend if looking for an easy read !

This is a very slow burn book, which I didn't gel with as it felt much too drawn out for my liking. I really enjoyed Uncoupling but this one didn't work as well for me unfortunately.

An enjoyable and entertaining read.
I really, really enjoyed Lorraine's previous book and so was pleased to see that she had written a second.
This was another story filled with wonderful characters, and the warmth of the story and the authors writing is a joy to read.
We follow two characters Rebecca and Jack at a time when their lives are OK but could be better. With both of them trying to concentrate on their jobs and getting from one day to the next they meet in not the best of circumstances not long after Jack has moved into the flat across the hall from Rebecca. Seemingly two very different people there's something that just can't seem to keep them apart as we read this great will they won't they story.

Jack and Rebecca are neighbours in flats overlooking Hampstead Heath in North London. They get off on the wrong foot but slowly become friends. Jack is a struggling actor with a useless agent and a part-time job in a bar. Rebecca is doing well in her marketing career, but it no longer inspires her – she is contemplating a new direction. Neither of them are looking for a serious relationship.
Told in alternate chapters from both their perspectives, we get the story from both sides. I felt too much time was devoted to them individually though, and that there was not enough interaction to make their friendship and romance plausible. They had a tendency to make assumptions about the other with no evidence to back them up. They had in common that they needed to make changes to move their careers and lives forward. I found it easier to like Jack than Rebecca who I took a while longer to warm to. It is their elderly neighbour Clive who brings them together and helps them see what is obvious to the rest of us – their scenes with him are the highlight of Sorry I Missed You.
The characters are well written and believable, the setting used to full advantage, and though I found this book a bit slow I would definitely read more by this author. Thanks to Orion and NetGalley for a digital copy to review.

A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.

I enjoyed every page of this very sweet book. This is a friends to lovers tale that also touches on trauma and family dynamics. The two leading characters, Rebecca and Jack are so likeable and both at a bit of a cross roads in their lives. There is know steamy sex scene in this book and it really doesn’t need it as their awkward attraction to each other is so well written and realistic I felt my stomach flutter for them. As soon as I had finished this book I downloaded Lorraine’s first book The Paris Connection and can’t wait for more.

3.5 stars
Having read Lorraine Brown's previous book, I was really excited to read her latest release.
Sadly this fell a little flat for me.
It was more of a slow burn than I was hoping for, which made me put the book down for several days before picking it back up again.
Sometimes what were meant to be funny moments ended up feeling quite cringe-inducing.
It is a light and easy read, which some might enjoy as a beach read but it was bit too average for me, sadly.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Please note that this book is not for me - I have read the book, However I had to DNF and because i do not like to give negative reviews I will not review this book fully - there is no specific reason for not liking this book. I found it a struggle to read and did not enjoy trying to force myself to read this book.

This is the story of Jack and Rebecca, who end up being neighbours in their block of flats at Marlowe Court. From taking an initial dislike to each other, they slowly become friends and a romance starts to blossom.

This book is very character driven. It alternates POV between the two main characters, and we learn a lot about their lives and particular their jobs. I did find that the narration of both characters was voiced very similar so I sometimes lost track of whose POV I was actually reading because they just sounded so alike!

Whilst I really liked the fact that we got to learn so much about Jack and Rebecca, I did feel that there was a lack of actual plot. The main plot is obviously the romance between them, but I didn’t feel like we got to see very much of that at all? Nothing actually happens between them until the last 50% and it’s only a couple of very fleeting chapters that stuff actually happens! I felt that for the first 50% I was waiting for something to happen and for the book to get going.

I enjoyed this book and I really did like the characters, especially Clive! Although I did find Jack ever so slightly annoying at times!! Just for me, not enough actual story going on. I did enjoy this book more than the author’s debut novel though!

Sorry I Missed You is a sweet romantic comedy bringing together two unlikely (at least at first glance) people who happen to be neighbors in a block of flats in north London. Rebecca works at a marketing firm and is fresh out of a 16-year relationship that left a lot to be desired. Jack is a struggling actor with a terrible agent, trying to figure out where he fits in. Ultimately, it's an older resident in the flats, Clive, who helps to break this romance wide open and guides both Rebecca and Jack to what arguably is staring them both in the face.

Whilst the story itself was somewhat predictable, the switching of narratives from each of the main characters POVs helped to give insights into what each was thinking about similar events.

A story about neighbours Rebecca and Jack; Sorry I Missed you really missed the mark for me. The story was told through dual perspectives.
Their individual stories were okay but their chemistry with each other fell flat. There was no oomph, there was hardly any interaction and nothing really happened until the last quarter of the book.
Both characters presumed a lot about each other without getting to know each other.
Had the author focused more upon Rebecca and Jack's relationship rather than their individual lives, the book would have been much, much better.

This books was a sweet contemporary romance between two adults leading very different lives next door to one another. If you enjoy relatable books with real life romance then this is a cute read you should definitely try. Some sweet laughs and lots of love. A relaxing summer read.

Sorry I Missed You was a gentle romantic read that got you involved in the lives of two very normal people in their thirties. In that sense, it felt relatable and real. Rebecca was living a bit of a non-life, still reeling from a year-old break-up and a huge bereavement in her childhood. Jack was drifting in his desire to be an actor, trying to find direction and guidance. A missed parcel brought them in each other's path.

Much of this story tracked Rebecca and Jack's lives seperately, their work, their friendships and relationships. Over time a tangible friendship grew and it was pleasant and satisfying reading. I got pretty invested in their seperate work lives and the struggles they were both facing there. The road to more with these two was a slow burn and not rushed; I appreciated that.

This story was a quick read, I read it in 24 hours and enjoyed giving it my sole attention. I'd definitely read this author again.

Thank you Orion Books for the early review copy.

SORRY I MISSED YOU
BY
LORRAINE BROWN.

Rebecca and Jack are neighbours. Both single and both focussed on their careers. Neither of them are looking for love, but just maybe love is looking for them.

This is a lovely, feel good, rom com story.
Told in alternating chapters from Rebecca and Jack.
I loved how their very separate lives gradually blended together, and grew into one one delicious love story.

This is a slow burner, and it was no big surprise as to how the story ended. However the journey to the end was a joy.

A wonderful book to get lost in. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

With thanks to #Netgalley and #OrionPublishingGroup for a digital arc of this title.

Rebecca and Jack are neighbours, both single and trying to make their mark at work, Rebecca as a marketing manager and Jack as a jobbing actor waiting for his big break. Their first meeting gets off on the wrong foot as Rebecca can't find an important parcel that she's taken in for Jack, but slowly they start to get to know one another. Its a romcom, we know where its going and the journey there is a slow burn but an entertaining one.

Thanks for the chance to read it.

I really wanted to love this book but there was just something lacking for me, I think it was the chemistry that I didn't feel was there and very little romance, I felt that the book spent a lot of time with the backstory to the characters but there was just something missing. There seemed to be a lot of focus on their individual lives rather than their lives together. I really don't like to be negative but this book just fell a little flat for me I'm afraid
