This book tells the story of Rebecca and Jack, characters with entirely different lives that become neighbours. Throughout the book, the POV changes between them, and the reader can follow their lives, struggles, relationships with people surrounding them, careers, and reflections. It was refreshing to read this book because it felt like following two stories, two lines that slowly touch themselves here and then. At some point, these two lines intertwine to become one love story.
The book is a slow-burn, close doors romance; as a reader, you can see them going to strangers, friendly neighbours to friends, and lovers.
Despite not focusing much on the romance and more on the development of these two characters, their bonding, and friendship, I never felt that the narrative was slow. I think the change in POV kept the pace good, and the reader hooked up to the story. My only critique was that I got confused about who was narrating at a determined time, as I thought Rebecca and Jack sounded very similar.

A sweet romance story told in alternative pov, with characters that make me want to be their friend in real life and sometimes to even give them a real talk or a hug.

Both Jack and Rebecca have a lot on their plate and while trying to wave through their busy life, there’s a spark of what ifs between them from the moment they met. Even if the start is not exactly what you will think, the story takes us into a learning to know each other and ending into that fine line between friendship and feelings stronger than that. Now, Clive? That’s someone that I want just for myself.

A heartwarming romance that all fans of the genre will enjoy.

I really enjoyed this lovely story where we hear from the POV’s of both Jack and Rebecca in alternating chapters. They start off on the wrong foot so can they turn things around?

I loved the character Clive who was their elderly neighbour he was such a loveable guy.

I recommend this one for a great feel good read. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Thank you to Orion Books for inviting me on the blog tour and for the gifted copy of the book.

Sorry I Missed You is one of those wonderful feel good reads that you just can’t put down. I loved the dual narrative as we get to know more about Jack and Rebecca’s lives. Both such engaging characters, I was willing for their growing friendship to develop into something more. Clive their neighbour was a great additional character- feisty and independent I loved how he ‘interfered ‘ with their lives for ‘their own good’
A true romance, this is one story I’ll read again to get lost in the world with Jack and Rebecca.

The story of Rebecca and Jack. He is her temporary new neighbour and they secretly like each other but will these opposites attract?
I liked how it was told from both points of view.

Looking forward to more from this author.

This is a slow burn character driven romance following Rebecca and Jack and their comings and goings at Marlowe Court.
Rebecca has been single for a couple of years and to the outside looks pretty stable in her job, whereas Jack is meandering trying to secure that acting roles he so desperately wants/needs, whilst working hours in a pub.
The two characters meet when Rebecca takes a parcel in for Jack and things do not run smoothly! Told in alternating chapters we gain understanding of the characters, how they interact with each other and secondary characters- Clive (heart eyes) gosh I do love an older character and he was the best.
The book also covers difficult childhoods / fractured family as well as grief and trauma, which I thought was very well written.
If you prefer your romance less steamy and more about the characters then this one would definitely be worth picking up.

This was a nice easy read with loveable characters. At first I thought this was going to be an enemies to lovers but then it quickly became friends to lovers with some miscommunication!
There wasn’t much drama and it wasn’t a mega exciting read but definitely a great summer or holiday read if wanting something light and easy!

I enjoyed it enough but the characters were a little flat and boring to me so I didn’t feel overly invested in the romance build up.the chemistry between the two also seemed non-existent.
I liked the story as a whole and enjoyed the characters individually and maybe if some further character development and depth were added it’d have been more enjoyable but this just didn’t hit the mark for me.

I was really sold on the plot idea for this book and thought it was unique and intriguing. There was a lot of backstory and depth provided to Rebecca and Jack’s characters and I found their neighbour Clive to be sweet and charming. It did, though, feel more like a story about these two separate people than a romance between them. Apart, it was very interesting to see their dilemmas in their work, Jack’s relationship with his family and determination to succeed as an actor, and Rebecca’s awakening to her feelings of her job. The pair inspired each other and had some nice interactions but I would have liked a little more chemistry and, I was a little thrown by what felt like a very sudden intimacy in their relationship.

A slow burn romance which felt a little flat in places, for me. I couldn’t keep track of time/days because I felt it jumped quite quickly. I would read this author again, though.

Sorry I Missed You is a lovely slow burn romance between Jack and Rebecca who live in neighbouring flats. Jack is a struggling actor, 10 years out of drama school whereas Rebecca is flying high in her marketing job and looking forward to promotion. When they first meet, they make negative assumptions about each other and it takes a while before the chemistry between them begins to take effect.
This is quite a slow paced book told by Jack and Rebecca in alternate chapters and there is a lot about their working lives which I really enjoyed especially Jack’s struggles to find a decent acting role. The secondary characters are fun, especially Rebecca’s work colleagues and the elderly neighbour Clive who is lonely and worried that Jack will end up alone like him.
I loved the way that the two characters fell into friendship and gradually began to realise that this could be something more. I think that the lack of confidence both of them felt about relationships is something that a lot of people will be able to relate to.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and would definitely recommend. Thank to Net Galley and Orbit for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This a totally, utterly, completely gorgeous and compelling read. Great characters, and the way in which they live their lives is interesting.
Some more serious moments, some funny this has a great blend of events but overall is a feel good read, and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling.

For the first hundred pages or so the author tries too hard to go for 'funny', but is unable to carry it off, making the narrative top-heavy with clichés and misplaced comedic effects which become increasingly tiresome and simply don't work. Then, suddenly, Lorraine Brown appears to find her stride and the novel turns into a gentle, charming romance between two neighbours who take a long time to discover their relationship is more than mere friendship. After the story's initial 'clumsy' beginning (for want of a better term), Brown employs just the right sprinkling of humour in what is actually quite a serious exploration of two people, lonely in their different ways, finding their true paths in both their professorial lives and in love. The difference between the first section of the novel and the rest of it is so uncannily marked that I find myself mildly curious to know whether it was, in fact, all Brown's own work or if there were two writers.

My thanks to Orion Books and Netgalley for the ARC.

Loved loved loved it! Absolutely phenomenal and I read it in one day! I loved uncoupling by Lorraine brown and this next book definitely lived up to my expectations. She’ll 100% be an auto buy author for me now! Thank you so much for the chance to read this book!

Bittersweet and enigmatic. Sorry I missed you is the perfect read for anyone looking for someone to relate to as the character just goes about their life.

I think the plot line and ending was too predictable for me. It followed an exact pattern, with nothing too exciting sprinkled in. They were two characters who 'bump' into one another. It gave off very girl next door vibes, which is a bit obvious for my liking.

A cute will they won’t they book that many will enjoy. Rebecca and Jack are neighbours who don’t quite get off on the right foot.

Rebecca is a focused career woman. Working in marketing she seems to be able to do it all. Everyone around her tells her she has the upcoming promotion in the bag, but she’s not sure if she wants it. She’s still heartbroken after her relationship of sixteen years ended. Jack is a struggling actor who is waiting for his big break. His agent doesn’t do anything for him, his family are disappointed with his career choice, and he seems to be working 24/7 as a barman.

I liked watching Rebecca and Jack’s relationship turn from frosty civility to a friendship. Both were in difficult places in their lives and found that they could be completely honest with one another about situations they had never told anyone else. Their friendship felt very natural, which is very hard to pull off in a book. Told from both their points of view, it’s hard not to be cheering them on.

I adored Clive! Although I liked Jack and Rebecca, Clive just stole the show for me. Their helpful neighbour Clive is such a wonderful background character that brought a different element to the book. Now in his eighties, living on his own, Clive’s social interaction revolves around chatting to his neighbours. His bubbly and friendly nature hides his loneliness.

Love romances with an actor type character sprinkled throughout really enjoyed this one

Rebecca isn't looking for love. She's perfectly happy with her high-flying city job, gorgeous flat overlooking Hampstead Heath and fortnightly fling with the hot CEO. She's certainly not interested in the hot actor neighbour who's just moved in opposite...

Jack is still looking for his big break. It turns out being the star talent at drama school doesn't give you a golden ticket to Hollywood, after all. The last thing he needs is any distractions right now - especially not the uptight, power-suit wearing girl next door.

I absolutely adored Lorrain Browne’s debut and have fallen in love with the characters in this beautiful second novel just as much!

The story is told in the first person from the alternating perspectives of Rebecca and Jack. Rebecca works in marketing in the city and whilst every now and then she meets up with Tyler, the American CEO of the company she works for, she definitely isn’t looking for love. Not after her partner of 16 years left her and she’s still living in the flat that they chose together, on her own. Jack is still searching for his big acting break and finds himself living in the same block of flats near Hampstead Heath as Rebecca. He is staying in his friend Tom’s flat who is currently in America, with his acting career definitely not in limbo. For Jack, the last thing he needs is any distractions right now, especially not from his neighbour Rebecca! They may only live a few metres away from each other, but their worlds couldn’t be further apart. And opposites don’t really attract...do they?

I absolutely loved this book and seeing how Rebecca and Jack’s interactions changed and developed as the weeks and months passed by. They were both such wonderful characters and I had a real soft spot for Jack straight from the outset and just loved him even more as the book progressed. I also really enjoyed learning more about his acting, both in the past and in terms of his present opportunities. I couldn’t wait to get back to both of their chapters though, and seeing what was happening for them in their respective lives and careers.

I thought it was clever how it was made clear quite early on that Rebecca had a fear linked to hearing an ambulance siren or seeing an ambulance itself, and I liked being able to think about this as I was reading. When she visits her Nan in her care home and we learnt a few more details about Rebecca’s earlier life, I had an idea of the relevance/truth and I liked how a few more details were revealed and things hinted at as the story developed.

I also absolutely loved Clive, the elderly neighbour in one of the downstairs flats who Rebecca and Jack would both help whenever they could. They shared so many wonderful and moving scenes together and I thought he was just brilliant!

Right from the beginning Jack and Rebecca were both characters I really cared about and I knew I wasn’t going to want to say goodbye to either of them when this story finished! That is exactly how I felt when I finished this book even though I loved the ending!

I honestly cannot recommend this beautiful story enough!
