Nina LaCour has quickly become one of my favorite authors this year. I absolutely adored Watch Over Me. This book had an underlying layer of both darkness and love embedded in the script. Nina LaCour is always able to pull this off without a hitch.

In this book you follow Mila who moves out of the foster care system to a farm on the coast to help with the education of a young boy and also to help with the farm and at the local farmer's market. What you are met with from there is a story of love, acceptance, and learning what it means to stand on your feet when met with both of those things.

I can't wait to see what the author writes next. A big thank you to NetGalley and We Are Bookish for allowing me to read a copy and also providing the book club guides.

This seemed to be a much more basic book club kit. The discussion questions and the long author interview was really interesting and appreciated, but the other features seemed filler (other books to read and bookmarks) or interesting but not useful (a butter recipe?). I would have loved to have seen more focus on the cover and the art and more exploration of the ghosts.

I really enjoyed this kit and highly recommend it as a supplement to your reading experience with the book!

This is such a fun, engaging book club kit! I love reading interviews with authors, and hearing about what inspired them to write their novel. The included discussion questions are perfect for encouraging deeper exploration of the book's characters and themes, the kit is easily printable/accessible and I loved how Netgalley began including on their sites. Will definitely use in the near future with my very own book club.

I absoluelty love these kits. A kit like this makes it 10x easier to prep for my discussion that month with a sort of guideline for what sort of questions can be asked on top of the author interviews. I also really enjoy the handouts that these kits provide. The book marks and even book related lists are great for patrons wanting more from the book group.

Nina already impressed me with We Are Okay because of the warm and comforting writing. This book is the same thing. A bit heartbreaking but there is still some kind of comfort in the way she describes things.

I read this book when it first came out and fell in love with it. Nina is an astonishing writing and each of her books is filled with wonderful characters and themes.

Highly recommend this kit for teachers! I printed out the kit for my students and already had a copy of the book in my class’s mini library. One student used it and was able to connect with them :) thinking of using this as a reading next school year! The authors interview was insightful and the discussion questions were great markers to critically think about the book.

This made me very excited to purchase this book. I think that creating book club kits is such a brilliant idea because many people picked up reading during the pandemic while quarantining alone at home. These will allow us to get more involved with the book community and enhance our experiences

While I enjoyed this book, I definitely bought it because the cover drew me in. I imagine that is the case with a lot of people, so I loved how the author interview included a conversation about the design process. There are quite a few discussion questions, both from the author and the kit, and found them thought provoking and engaging. I could see them being helpful in a classroom as well was in a book club. I also enjoyed the butter recipe and how to tied back to the book.

This book kit has some really insightful discussion suggestions, and I especially enjoyed the addition of the homemade butter recipe, especially with how it ties back into the book itself. The comparison books I believe were all well chosen as well.

I loved 'watch over me', and I loved this book club kit. I'd recommend it to people teaching a book club, or a class, because it really encourages the reader to have in depth thoughts about this amazing book :)

The Watch Over Me Book Club Kit begins with a letter from the author. I didn't know LaCour used to be a high school teacher. It has a list of content warnings which I really appreciate. It has an interview with the author which I think is just an expansion of the letter and maybe these two could be combined. There's a list of discussion questions which I think are really great and give opportunities for in depth discussion. I loved the recipe for homemade butter and it was a great connection to the book. There are some book recommendations and printable bookmarks. I liked this kit a lot.
