First of all, I want to thank NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to review this book.

As a modern woman, and a feminist, I thoroughly enjoyed Twanda's view on relationships and the fact that she didn't feel like she had to be in one, to be successful or to be in a good place in life. I also really enjoyed learning more about what made Twanda who she was, and the insights into her back story. However, I really would have like more snippets from her mother's diary, as I thought that was really crucial and I felt that wasn't executed as well as it could have been.

There are some saving graces to this book, however I felt like there was just too much going on all at once. There were too many plot lines, and too many characters - some of whom I didn't feel quite fit. I found it confusing and ended up getting mixed up.

This is my first book to read by this author but I cannot wait to read more by them! This is such a uniquely written story that you will find yourself thinking about long after you finish it. Highly recommend!!

Would you listen if an app tells you four people are your soulmates? In The Moment We Met, we follow Tiwanda, who just turned 30 and has decided to turn her life upside down by quitting her job and pursuing her dream career. At the same time, she gets an invite from 𝘔𝘦𝘵, an app that points out 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 people who could be your soulmate.⁣

I found this book super cute and loved how it showed that you could possibly have more than one soulmate for different reasons! I do wish I had learned more about the other characters.⁣

This book was released on 7/5

First of all, I want to thank NetGalley for approving me for this book.

Unfortunately, as much as I would love to say I enjoyed it, I really didn’t. The worst is, there’s not much I can say about this book. There were too many plot lines and too many characters and it felt like I was supposed to already know them all. The best way I can explain how I felt is: you know when you work with many people and you just can’t remember all of their names and where have you met them before but when you see each other you kind of have to talk about what’s new in your lives even though none of you actually care? Yeah, reading this book felt pretty much like that.

I just couldn’t start caring about the main character because there were so many plot lines impacting her. Most of the time I felt lost. I tried to finish this book but I genuinely did not enjoy it. It was messy, probably messier than this review 😂

A huge thanks to Lake Union Publishing for my complimentary e-ARC and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I absolutely enjoyed this book and I was low-key in love with the cover, The book has meddling family relatives, a meddling app and a thirty year old Tiwanda who is not as obsessed with love and settling down. I enjoyed that she was gifted her late mother's journal and meeting her mother through the pages. I would recommend you read the first book to have an understanding. It was overall a good book.

So let's talk about the things I enjoyed about this book. I enjoyed Twanda's view on relationships and her desire to not be in one. Some people aren't into all things relationships. And I can appreciate her reluctance to hold hands and PDA. Been seemed like a nice guy although a little random with their talents and interests.

I thought the mother's diary was a nice touch and I was interested in that and Tawanda's back story. I enjoyed the business owner vibe and that whole grant concept.

Things I didn't love are the millions of support characters and the complicated relationships. I got a lot of people mixed up.

It was not clear who the four matches were from the app. The whole app concept was a little unclear to me. It could be removed entirely and the story would be just fine.

I don't think this story needed to be as long as it was. I could have done with more snippets from the mom's diary and many some proper flashbacks.

All in all, there was a happy ending and that's satisfaction.

This is the second entry of a meddling app (is this magical realism or the robots are taking over). You definitely need to read book 1 to follow along. It's sweet and I love the deaf culture rep.

Thank you to the author, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in a series, and not having read the first I found it hard to follow a lot of the story. There were a lot of characters, and not enough character development - I kept having to go back to work out who is who as the story progressed. The growth of the main character is wonderful to see, particularly toward the end of the book, but I found her very unlikeable for much of the book, and so it was a bit of a slog to get that far.

And where is this Bathe in Chocolate shop? Does a soap and chocolate making shop exist cause it's an amazing idea and I want to go there with my girls and live there. Ok that's a lot.

Tiwanda is celebrating her 30th birthday by leaving her old job, starting her dream job and maybe looking for love. There is a dating app that is in a way a bit magical in the way that it answers its recipients. It sounds similar to those that you used to know. Now I would love to have an app that sounded like my Dad was communicating with me. He was definitely the one that was always trying to get me dating when I was single. My mom was and is no pressure, she just goes with the flow and will go shopping whenever, that is the fastest you will ever see her walk.

Tiwanda has some soulmate matches which she's very skeptical about since she is not the dating type. Her parents' love story was tragic and full of questions and drama and she just doesn't know if she wants anything traditional or normal in that way. So finding someone of like minds is going to be tricky.

I always enjoy a good business plan being executed while trying to date. I loved that she was so sure of what she wanted in a partner but she still learned some things.

Also, her family issues sounded so unfair to little her that had no idea what to do in her grief hence creating a rift that didn't have to be there. Once again grief hits everyone differently.

huge thanks to NetGalley and the author to cross my path with this amazing book and for the eARC.

Based on Have We Met? I knew I wanted to read this book. In The Moment We Met, the dating app Met sets its sights on Tiwanda.

I loved that she was sent matches and encouraged to open her heart and mind. I also appreciated the fact that she didn’t have a conventional view on relationships yet knew what she didn’t want out of them. Her love life, however, takes a backseat to the business she is trying to start and continues to for most of the book. Except for the Q&A, there was no real interaction or utilization of the app.

It became all about her business and seemed to defeat the concept of the overall story being about an app that helps people. That said, I still enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more from this author.

I love the cover and the premise of the story instantly caught my attention but I unfortunately didn’t love this story. I didn’t feel connected to our main character and I’m not sure I loved her. I do like the themes of grief though, I thought that was done well. But overall I got bored of the story. Thank you to NetGalley for this book!

Tiwanda is miserable in her job with no love life to speak of and friends she barely sees. When a mysterious app shows up on her phone promising to bring 4 potential soulmates into her life, changes start happening. Pursuing her entrepreneurial dreams launches her into the lives of not only these soulmates but the family she has been separated from for years. Is there more behind this app than just AI? Find out in Tiwanda's story The Moment We Met.

I did not read the first book in this series "How We Met" and instead went into this book with no expectations. There were so many good parts and it was interesting to see the story take all of the twists and turns, reconciliations and successes. I loved cheering Tiwanda on towards her business success and in true romance reader fashion knew exactly who her pick was going to be. To me, there could have been deeper character development with Tiwanda and two of her matches in particular because I didn't feel any real emotional connection between them. This may be because Tiwanda comes across emotionally immature in her inexperience and unwillingness, but while there wasn't any *spice* in the book some of the emotional heat could have come through clearer. At one point I was even wondering if Tiwanda was asexual and these soulmate matches were feeling forced upon her as something she didn't really want that muddied the waters towards her ultimate goal of opening her business.

One thing I will always point out as a love in books is Deaf culture representation. This book had two Deaf characters and all the interactions felt authentic, which I understood when I read acknowledgments and author bio and saw that Baker was a fellow interpreter. I appreciate how these characters were given equal footing with the MC and appeared naturally and unforced in the story, something that is sometimes used as a gimmick for diversity and inclusion in books. This natural inclusion definitely supports Deaf-Gain and I am here for it!

When requesting this book I saw something different and I was really excited but unfortunately, I was disappointed.
The story is about a woman trying to find her place in life both in work and love. However, she is on yhe the verge of becoming 30 and hasn't accomplished anything yet. So we see throughout the book her path towards achieving her dreams and what problems she will encounter.
The plot looks good but the storyline and writing didn't capture me at all abd I found myself not interested and staring at fhe the pages for hours.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing. For allowing me to give my honest review on in the moment.

In the moment shares the process of Tiwanda finding love through an app her cousin used in part one. Tiwanda has never had a serious relationship and kissing in public makes he want to throw up. Tiwanda meets 4 match’s.

Throughout the book Tiwanda finds love and starts a business. Tiwanda got on my nerves as she was so stuck on not having a serious relationship but with the help of the app she finds love.

This is a case of the cover made me do it!

This was the story of Tiwanda, who had a lot going on in this book. She was dealing with the grief of her mother, and then her father 5 years later when she was a teenage. Having her grandmother take custody of her caused a rift in the family.

She is also trying to open her own business after quitting her job. Through a grant program she gets assigned a mentor who she is very dismissive of, until he pushes her to see how he can help her and wants her to succeed.

There is also a dating app, called Met, that her friend shared with her that supposedly has a mystical connection to her mothers spirit. A little weird but also endearing.

Through the course of the story she gets matched with 4 different people both male and female since she is bisexual and she has to weed out her perfect match.

I think this book was a case of too much going on and not enough focus. While there is a romance element it doesn’t really come across as a romance as most of the matches she doesn’t even go out with and the end decision comes at the very last few pages and even then it isn’t explored all that much. So would consider it more of a finding oneself sort of book.

I didn’t read the first book, and I would highly suggest it if you plan to read this one as there were a lot of characters and history introduced that I was lost about while reading.

It was a very diverse cast and I did enjoy that aspect of the book.

I received an arc for review. All opinions are my own and given freely.

An absolutely spectacular new novel from Camille Baker! I’m beyond grateful for having the opportunity to read this because I’m blown away! Go grab your copy now.

Camille Baker delivers a very similar novel as a follow up to her "Have we Met" and I liked this story line a lot, but felt like it didn't describe the Met app enough, could not read as a standalone without having read the first book of the series. Tiwanda was a more interesting character than Corinne and I enjoyed her matches more than I enjoyed the matches in the first book, overall super interesting topic/idea but could have dug into the writing a bit more and fleshed out the characters!

I love the inclusion of disability by including deaf side characters into the series but I would love a deaf focused novel and main character from Baker.

Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for providing a digital arc of the Moment we Met in exchange for a honest review. I was intrigued by the synopsis at first. However, it didn't exceed my expectations towards this book. Number one reason is because I had trouble connecting with each character. But I really like Tiwanda's development and how she grew at the end of the book. I love the author's writing too, it has diverse characters.
I felt like the time for her romantic interests is too low, I want to explore more. Tiwanda is passionate too.

I had hoped I would enjoy this book way more than I actually did. The concept sounded really nice, but the execution left a lot to be desired. The main thing that drew me to the book was the whole concept of a soap and chocolate making business that the main character Tiwanda is setting up. And that actually managed to deliver, it was easily the best part of the story. Another thing I found interesting was the MET app, but sadly it was only a side plot. It could have been explored further and expanded on. I didn’t quite get the hang of what the app actually was. The romance didn’t catch my attention, and the ending came very abruptly leaving the story hanging.
