The start of a new series is always exciting and this lives up to expectation, mainly because DCI Alice Rossi has such a fascinating background and personal life. It all becomes apparent as she investigates a killer on the loose at a luxury fishing retreat!
I thought it a bit gruesome in parts, but don't be put off by this because in all it kept me guessing and I found it thoroughly gripping and suspenseful with an astonishing surprise. One not to be missed.

I really liked this book. It starts out in a really rich community where a killer lurks. I immediately identified with the main character in kid picture of myself in a situation. The story is engrossing as well. I highly recommend this read!

What a great start to a new series! First chapter starts with a murder and does not let up till the very end. Alice races to finally capture a nemesis that has been controlling her life for the last six years. The Mad Hatter says this is the end, one of them will die, but which one? Seriously, this book will keep you guessing! I read this in one setting and loved every minute of it. The end will have you wondering what's going to happen next.

Good book! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, and a great who done it! The storyline was Interesting and flowed nicely! There was great police work too! This is a fairly new author to me and she's becoming one of my favorites! This book was really good but it wasn't one of my top favorites! I did enjoy reading it tho as it still was a good read! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for the eARC.
This read features an about-to-retire DCI and her longtime nemesis, a female serial killer. As a longtime reader of Ms. Durrant's police procedurals I was sadly unable to get into this first of a new series. For some reason neither the protagonist nor the story itself held my attention, it felt too familiar, tired and frankly, boring. Sorry!

If you enjoy true crime books, you might really enjoy this. I think that it encapsulates the type of thriller that a lot of people look for when picking out a mystery novel: not too scary, nothing too graphic, but enough edge to creep you out a little.
