A very unexcited and out of the ordinary premise. It was moving and written very thoughtfully. . Ella was such a sweet character and Jason was a really nice guy. It was easy to like them both and to root for their HEA

This is a good book. The two main characters are Ella and Jason. Ella is a teacher and Jason is a firefighter. There is an instant attraction between them. Jason is a no commitment kind of guy and Ella wants the whole husband and children way. Ella was involved in a fire at her house, her mother and father died because of the fire. Jason’s father was a firefighter and helped save Ella that night. They went on some dates and fell in love but not without issues but worked them out.

Residual Burn by Kelly Moran is the fourth book in her Redwood Ridge series but can easily be read as a stand alone. This book will provide readers with all of the feels while immersed in the story of Jason and Ella. Jason is a fire fighter and a playboy who is determined to never commit to a relationship. Ella is extremely shy because of the scars on her legs and feet from a fire as a child. I found it ironic that Ms. Moran paired a fire fighter and the victim of a fire together but they really did have a lot in common as the story progressed both from the past and in their current lives. A smoothly paced plot with characters that made me laugh and cry as these characters came to life and fell in love.

A beautiful and emotional roller coaster for Ella Sinclair and Lt. Jason Burkwell. Ella barely survived the fire that killed her parents. She was left with horrible scars and is used to being on her own due to the many years spent in the hospital, rehab and home schooling. Jason, a firefighter, knows how quickly things can go wrong when fighting a fire and it was a fire that took the life of the father he adored. He doesn’t take life too seriously, but when he meets Ella, he finds her adorable, charming, and enjoys her rambling and candid comments. She is not his “type”, but he is attracted to her; her strength and lack of pretense. She has no idea why he is interested in her as she has had very little male/female contact. She does enjoy the time they spend together, but when he suggests a more intimate relationship, it is time to tell him about her scars…and eventually the story that may cause him to leave her. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Both Jason and Ella found themselves being the target of the Town’s Battleaxes, consist of busybodies who ruled the town and have a love to matchmake. Ella was tasked to deliver a tuxedo to Jason as she is a member of committee that organise The Bachelor Auction. Jason found himself being forced to take care of a cat that he rescued and which he nothing about cat. Jason seek Ella’s help as she also owned a cat herself.

Ella is physically and emotionally scarred from a fire that has killed both her parent. She was a quiet lady and often people doesn’t know she was in the same room with them. Jason on the other hand, is good looking but abit of a loner. He lost his dad when he was 8 year old and doesn’t allow himself to get serious about anyone.

The characters are easy to relate to. Love how they balance each other and make me glued to the story. Overall, this story is an emotional read to me .

Jason and Ella's story will have you in tears but laughing at the same time. Jason's father died in a house fire. He was saving Ella's life. Jason didn't find out until he had fallen in love with Ella that she was the child saved that night. This romance takes you through the journey of healing and self-discovery. Kelly Moran is fantastic with character build-up and follow-through. I can't wait to read more. ARC provided by NetGalley for my honest review and opinion.

Residual Burn is the story of kindergarten teacher Ella and firefighter Jason.
Ella got heavenly scarred by a fire that also killed her parents.
On the outside they are very different. Ella is socially awkward, and Jason has a dislike to commitment. Thanks to the matchmaking Battleaxes they learn that they have more in common with each other than they thought.

I really like both characters, Jason and Ella. You could feel their pain and grief. The anxiety rep is really good, and I like that Ella is not ashamed of it and tells Jason from the beginning that’s just her personality. I also like that Jason never wanted to chance her. I think Jason should have groveled more at the end.

Overall, this was a perfect cozy, small town romance.
Now I want to read her entire backlist.

A lovely sweet small town romance that whilst part of series can be read as a stand-alone. Great to see the battle axes in operation again, in Jason and Ella’s story.

Oh, this was beautiful and somewhat of a surprise. I was expecting it to be a little cheesy since it falls into the cute-and-perfect seaside town (how can all these singles afford to live there?) with meddling busybodies (here, "battleaxes") trope, and while there is a tiny bit of truth to that estimation, it's so much more than that.

Instead of being treacly sweet, the story has a lot of humor and grit. A survivor of a childhood tragedy, Ella is crippled by shyness. When steamrolled into a date with her secret crush, hottie firefighter (obligatory for the trope) Jason, she's mortified. When she shows up in his doorstep, Jason is both intrigued and stumped by the young woman he'd never seen before. Rather than planning it or even really fighting it, they find themselves voluntarily spending more and more time together.

I've read similar plots before, and I'm a sucker for an underdog story. I love how Jason finds Ella adorable from the get-go and how Ella owns up to her propensity for babbling when nervous. I do find it a little odd that Ella has been unnoticed by the town as a whole--to the point of people constantly not remembering or recognizing her--perhaps it would have been more realistic if the town had merely friend-zoned her, but it was lovely watching her claim her spot in the light nonetheless.

There's a bit of secret-keeping on Ella's part, and I typically dislike secrets in any story. I'm not even sure that the secret was necessary, especially when Ella and later Jason refer to it as a lie that Ella kept, though I suppose it could be argued as a lie of omission. It doesn't overwhelm the story, however, and it's handled in both a heartbreaking and life-affirming way.

Also, I'm not crying, you're crying.

I have the next book in the series in my hand as I tap this review out, and I can't wait!

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Thanks!

I received an advanced reader's copy of Residual Burn (Redwood Ridge 4) by Kelly Moran from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I felt this was a solid romance novel and I found it to be well written. The plot was engaging and the pacing moved swiftly. I appreciated how nicely crafted the main characters were, and laughed at the antics of the secondary characters.

This novel was a bit predictable, but was a quick, fun read.

I loved this book!! It was heartbreaking at the right moments and heartwarming when needed! The cast of characters were likable and the plot was very well done. This book can be read as a standout alone or as part of the series- this being book number 4. This was my first time reading this author’s work. I found her writing style to be exceptional. I will definitely read more of her in the future. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC. I definitely recommend this book to a others. It was a delight!💗

I am beyond happy to have read this book and discovered Kelly Moran’s special kind of book magic.

𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡 is so much more than an absolutely amazing romance. This book is a sweet, laugh out loud, steamy, made me cry and warmed my heart, read in one sitting story. From the opening scene to the very last page, I was completely invested in Jason and Ella’s story and would not change a single thing about it.

Filled with witty banter, hilarious exchanges, smoldering glances, foot in mouth, face palm, swoony, high steam, gut wrenching, heartwarming moments - it will take you through an emotional spin cycle and leave you wanting more. More of them, more of this series, more of everything that is Kelly Moran.

I’m giving 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗗𝗨𝗔𝗟 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗡 the judy.ann.loves.books stamp of approval, TBR and Enjoy!

I loved this story.
I'm really glad Kelly Moran wrote a new book for this series.I missed her wrods so much but as soon as I started to read Residual Burn it felt like to come back home.

Ella, is a shy kindergarten teacher, she thinks she is invisible for many of Redwood Ridge's residents until the town matchmakers choose her to redeem the most eligible bachelor and handsome firefighter Jason.Their friendship start easily thanks to a cute kitten but day after day their relationship becomes more serious and Ella is frightened to lose Jason when she tells him her deepest secrets.
Will their feelings for each other be stronger than anything else?Or will Jason will go back to his one night stands routine?

Needless to say I strongly recommend to get this book as soon as possible.
