I read this ARC for an honest review
All thoughts and opinions are mine

I found this a bit of a slow starter for me
It was ok and a fairly quick read for me

I'd say it was a bit average

A story of discovery
Penny and Benedict both work in NICU and on their way to work one morning they save a baby’s life. This generates a lot of publicity for the hospital and they start a fake relationship in order to keep the publicity up to generate funding for a maternity unit in the hospital. Problem is that the fake relationship starts to become real…
I loved Penny, she is a fun and intelligent lady with fantastic trivia knowledge but she has been badly hurt the in past and is wary of trusting love and her relationship with Benedict. Benedict is haunted by his brothers death and this has a huge impact on his life and how he perceives things. At times I did struggle with him as he had a very cynical view but he is also so loveable and I did very quickly start to love him
I really enjoyed this book, there is medical drama but not too much and at the same time it looked at the characters, what drives them but also how the issues in both of their pasts have such an impact on their present and future. I loved seeing the characters discover what is important, what they are willing to sacrifice and what the future could hold as they became more and more real to me
I would recommend this book to those who enjoy a romance full of emotions which will have you hooked from the very first page

A slow romance in the fast pace of a hospital. Penny’s broken from an engagement to an a.ready married man and ends up dating the hospital playboy, it is lovely to follow the emotions and nerves and worries as both Benedict and Penny work out what they’ll sacrifice to gain love. The background of their NICU is very well described and told and we invest in the many babies and families our couple works to save.

I read this book really quickly and overall I found the story to be a good storyline and the characters were developed well enough t but the whole time I was reading it I found myself getting more and more frustrated with a male protagonist that was a narcassist at best. I found everything about him detestable at this point and the way he was stringing the female protagonist along made my blood boil and had me throing my kindle down in frustration several times.
It is frustrating because overall I enjoyed the storyline but I hated one of the mian characters.

All the way through reading this story you felt yourself shouting at Benedict to tell her about Amber and his being married, knowing that it would be a big issue for Penny. You just kept expecting/hoping Amber would turn up and tell her just to get it over with.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Mills and Boon in return for an honest review.

The blurb is inaccurate as it describes Benedict as divorced. The fact that he isn’t is one of the areas of conflict in the story. Although Benedict’s back story is a long way in the past and is almost admirable. His lies of omission made me really dislike him. I struggled all the way through with the story as there were innumerable opportunities for him to tell Penny the truth. The dishonesty of her ex was something which had so affected Penny that it was obvious how much a lack of truth would mean to her. I could not see a good reason why Benedict couldn’t be open with Penny. So despite the fact this was well written and otherwise entertaining - I could not accept the basic premise of Benedicts’s secrecy and dishonesty. When he finally told her the truth - I wanted to say ‘see how easy that was - you should have done in after chapter 2! ‘
