Though her job has high stakes, FBI Special Agent Juliana Jameson knows how to talk down a hostage taker and has never lost a hostage. Only one incident gets under her skin, one that happened before her career began, but was very personal. As the fifteenth anniversary of this incident approaches, lines between work and home begin to blur when someone begins playing cat and mouse games with Jules. As the situation escalates, it becomes clear that someone is out for blood, and not just a little.

School Resource Officer Clay Fox wastes no time getting to the scene when his sister texts that she has been taken hostage. With Reese stuck in a courtroom, at the mercy of a hostage taker with nothing left to lose, Clay turns his phone over to the beautiful negotiator. After the crisis passes, he finds that there is another one brewing. Juliana makes him want things he doesn’t believe he’s worthy of; how will she ever forgive what he has done when he cannot.

Lynette Eason brings the Extreme Measures crew back together in this second installment as Penny, Grace, and Raina to the support of their good friend, Juliana. With her trademark excitement and multiple storylines, Eason weaves together an unforgettable story and leaves us chomping at the bit for our next look at the crew she has knit together for this series.

Lynette Eason never disappoints! The action and drama starts from the beginning and never lets up. The twists and turns will keep you turning the page. This story is about friendships, letting go of emotional baggage, forgiveness and faith. I liked that the romance wasn't rushed but instead, develops in a natural way and doesn't distract from the action. I highly recommend this book for those who love a non-stop romantic suspense story with a faith thread.

Clay is a former military sniper now working as a high school resource officer. The challenges they face are not to be missed!

Series: Extreme Measure book 2

Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense

Rating: 5 stars

Publisher: Revell

Lynette Eason is one of my go to for Christian romantic suspense because she writes the right balance of romance and suspense. And Crossfire the second book in the Extreme Measures series is no different. I enjoyed this one more than the first one.

I’m normally not a fan of the romance part of the romantic suspense but with this one I loved the romance more than the suspense. Which is actually a first for me. I loved reading Julianna James and Clay Snyder’s story.

Eason handled a storyline that could have been taken from recent headlines with grace and tact. And that’s what makes her such an amazing suspense author. And something else I liked was that the verse at the beginning is one I’ve had as a favorite for years.

Julianna Jameson, an FBI Special Agent, is a hostage negotiator. Clay Fox, a former army Ranger, works as a school resource officer. They meet under unusual circumstances. Julianna is called in to work on bank hostage situation and Clay's sister is one of the hostages. Once the crisis is resolved, a relationship develops. Initially, neither wants to let their guard down. They are two people who are shaped by their pasts, and they come with baggage. Tragedy casts shadows over both their lives.
More hostage situations occur, and it becomes clear that they are somehow connected to Julianna. But, why and how? In this precisely crafted story, the tension and danger mounts quickly. There are various narrative twists in the carefully constructed plot. Moments of heart pounding action keep readers engrossed right up to the story's conclusion.

I found this to be an imaginative and exciting story. Highly recommended.

Julianna has honed the ability to stay calm under pressure and has become a top-rated hostage negotiator for the FBI. She is called to a hostage situation and ends up meeting School Resource Officer Clay who has arrived on scene after learning his younger sister, Reese, is one of hostages. Clay is intrigued by Julianna and her job. Once the hostage situation is resolved he explains an event that he is putting on at the school and asks if she will speak at it about her job. She agrees and a friendship between them begins to develop. Clay & Julianna both have younger siblings who they are very close to and protective of, Reese and Dottie. These two girls end up forming a friendship themselves which was fun to see. Then an incident happens while they are together leading Clay and Julianna to ask if it was random or were the girls targeted? Meanwhile Julianna keeps getting personally requested to hostage situations by the hostage taker, this has not happened in the past leading her to ask why? We get snippets from the villain’s point of view, without revealing who they are. As much as I tried, I could not figure out who the villain was or what motivated them until Julianna had figured it out. I loved getting an inside look at negotiating and the way the whole team (negotiator, research analysts and SWAT) must work together in these situations. I enjoyed how the story showed that God is always there for us. He doesn’t stop bad stuff from happening (because we live in a fallen world and people have free will) but he is there to help us through it. I really enjoyed the sibling relationship that both Clay and Julianna had with their sisters. The only thing I struggled is at times the POV would switch to a particular person and I couldn’t figure out how they fit into the story, their involvement wasn’t revealed until the very end. Only just before this reveal did I guess how they were involved. I don’t think their sections really added to main storyline.

I couldn’t put this book down and read it in two days. I quickly came to care about the main characters and was engrossed in trying to figure how everything that was happening tied together. While I do enjoy romance in books, I liked that the budding romance did not overshadow the suspense, it just there in the background and added some sweet moments. While I always recommend reading series books in order, this one could easily be read as a standalone.

Solid installment in this series. Eason has decided to make this an unpredictable series that sometimes feels a tad over the top plotting to me.

Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, romance, action, murder, a great who done it and great police work! I'm pretty sure its a Christian read? It was very focused on that but it was still a good read, it didn't take over the story! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I am reviewing a copy of Crossfire through Revell and Netgalley:
Juliana Jameson is a top knotch FBI Agent/hostage negotiator, she has never lost a hostage. So she can certainly take care of her younger sister Dottie, couldn’t she? Dottie showed up unannounced to live with Julianna while she finished her senior year of high school.
Clay Fox was a former sniper with the 75th Ranger after a tragic incident he could never get past. He works as a high school resource officer at least until he can figure out what to do with the rest of his life.
Julianna and Clay’s path cross when Julianna is called in to negotiate a courtroom hostage situation involving Clay’s sister. Impressed and a bit intimidated by the calm, capable woman with the dark hair and blue eyes, Clay invites her to speak at his school. Dottie’s school.
As the anniversary of a school shooting from Julianna’s past approaches, it becomes clear that her perfect record is about to be tested and that Dottie is at risk. If Julianna and Clay can’t figure out who’s behind the attacks, more innocent people will die — and Dottie is next in line.
If you are looking for a tense, heart pounding story of revenge and redemption.
I give Crossfire five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!

While Crossfire is the second book in the Extreme Measures series, it can easily be a stand-alone novel.

I am not sure where to start with my review. There is SO much going on in this novel. I don't know of any other author who can pack so much in one story and make it all come together so seamlessly! Lynette Eason is truly a queen of suspense!

Crossfire is fast-paced.

Exposive.

Difficult to put down.

Julianna is a hostage negotiator who is good at her job. It shows in how often she is called out. This gave me a small glimpse into what a hostage negotiator does. I would not want such a high-stress, intense job, but I am thankful for those in this role.

Clay is a school resource officer, who meets Julianna when he comes to the courthouse, where his sister is a hostage. They meet under intense circumstances and continue to find themselves in other charged situations as the story unfolds. They build a solid friendship.

I enjoyed the character development, the flawed characters, the fast-paced story, the beautiful friendships that formed, and the twists the story took. It was also interesting to see the point of view of the antagonist.

The only thing I did not like was the "I have a secret I am not going to reveal, but it is going to keep me from pursuing a relationship." I am tired of that troupe; it is overused. We all have trust issues, so I get it, but I am just over it.

Overall, I really enjoyed this physiological thriller, with its themes of revenge, hope, and redemption. I recommend it to anyone who loves a good suspense novel.

Thank you to Net Galley and Revell for the opportunity to read Crossfire. I was not required to provide a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wow, this one was a page turner! Lynette Eason has done it again. Hostage negotiator Julianna and high school officer Clay are working together to figure out who wants Julianna and/or her sister Dottie dead, and the identity is a surprising twist. Definitely recommend you have time to read when you start this one because you won't want to put it down.

Crossfire, by Lynette Eason, is yet another high-octane tale by this author. Special Agent Julianna Jameson has been called out to address a hostage situation. A federal judge needs to be rescued. In order to take on this job, Julianna must leave Dottie, her eighteen-year-old sister, on her own for a bit. She had recently given her sister a home away from a rough situation with their mother. Julianna hopes to return home to find Dottie safe and sound!

When Clay Fox, former Army Ranger, learns that his sister is being held hostage at the courthouse, he only finds chaos when he arrives. Clay waits patiently and watches as Juliana uses her skills to successfully free these hostages!

You wonder if something may develop between Clay and Julianna; however, this tale does not slow down a bit. Before you know it Julianna is drawn into another hostage situation. This time her own sister is the hostage!

The ending to this tale is definitely worth the wait!

FBI special agent (negotiator) Julianna Jameson is called to a case in the courthouse. Clay Fox is working as a school resource officer after previously being a sniper / Ranger. His sister becomes a key player in the hostage situation in the courthouse and he works with Julianna trying to get her released. Then Julianna becomes the person being pursued by the bad guys.and Clay teams up with her to solve the case. I love Lynette Eason's books and they are alway thoughtful but also nail-biters! I love the suspense and the characters. Just a good book that I can't put down every time!

I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All views expressed are only my own honest opinion.

I could not wait to get my hands on this book! Lynette Eason keeps me turning the pages way too late into the night, and I couldn’t love it more. Crossfire is full of twists and turns that I couldn’t see coming. I love books that keep me on the edge of my seat, and Eason is great at that. This story focuses on Julianna and Clay as they fight an unknown evil. Julianna is an amazing woman. She loves her sister, and works hard at her job. Working in such a high stress job would get to most people, but Julianna loves what she does. On the outside everything seems great in her life, but her past has a hold on her and she can’t seem to get over it. Meeting Clay just might make her realize there is more to life, but he has a past of his own. Will they be able to move on and see what’s right in front of them? Or will a killer take that chance away from them? I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing, and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a fabulous read. FBI special agent Julianna Jameson is called to negotiate a tense situation at the courthouse where the judge and jury are being held hostage. School resource officer Clay Fox receives a text from his sister Reese that sends him racing towards the courthouse too. Reese is one of the hostages and is able to secretly send texts about their situation. This is only the first difficult situation that Julianna will have to handle. Soon Julianna and her sister Dottie are in danger. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This story is suspenseful through the whole book. It also features strong and interesting characters. I admire Julianna, Dottie and Clay for staying calm and resourceful through difficult situation. This book kept me on the edge of my seat.

This book is a race from page one. In classic Lynette Eason fashion, the hero and heroine each have richly layered backgrounds and interesting jobs that thrust them into the middle of the action. This was a fantastic, fast-paced read. I inhaled it and highly recommend it.
