This second book in Lynette Eason's newest series is a must read for any reader who loves Christian suspense novels.

This is the story of Julianna, an FBI negotiator. I loved reading about this. Seeing how a negotiator does their job.

Then there's Clay, who is quickly shown to be the hero in this story. (it is a romantic suspense, after all.... ;) )

I enjoyed getting to know these characters. Seeing them get to know each other.

This story is full of action. It shows what can happen when an individual is bent on revenge. It points toward redemption and hope.

"Crossfire" is the second book in Lynette Eason's "Extreme Measures" book series. This book centers on FBI Julianna James, a hostage negotiator. When not working, Julianna is caring for her teenage sister, Dottie, who has come to live with her. One day, while negotiating with a criminal who has taken over a courtroom, she meets former sniper Clay Snyder, whose sister is in the courtroom. Once the two meet, sparks fly. As their relationship slowly develops, the two must figure out who is targeting Julianna week after week.

I enjoyed the slow burn of the romance, as well as the mystery behind who was targeting Julianna and her sister. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

Truly loved this book. This a wonderful romantic suspense novel. This series is terrific. Lynette brings all her characters to life for me. It brings together Julianna an FBI negotiator and Clay an Army Ranger. I love how Clay and Julianne overcome the tragedy in their past. Clay and Julianne are equal partners and are there for each other. I love how heroines are best friends and have each others back. Lynette is a master at her craft. I am very much looking forward to her next book in this series.

SPECTACULAR!

Only one word can adequately sum up Lynette Eason’s latest release, Crossfire (Extreme Measures Book #2), and that word is SPECTACULAR! The plot is so compelling that I found myself completely engrossed to the point that everything else in became secondary until I could finish this book. Eason has crafted realistic likable characters, that work their way into your heart and as the mystery, mayhem, and murder surround them, you cannot help but want them to be protected and the villain to be caught! The villain is as crafty as they come and Eason has all manner of twists and turns in this story to keep you guessing to the end. And, there is romance – the mystery drives the romance which is my favorite way for a romantic suspense to be written. This book is truly Spectacular!

I was provided a copy of this book by Revell & NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

Lynette Eason is a master of romantic suspense, and she has done it again with Crossfire, the second book in the Extreme Measures series. Although part of a series, this book easily stands on its own.

The story centers around FBI Negotiator Julianna James, who until now had never lost a hostage, and former Army Ranger Clay Fox who now works as a school resource officer. This story is dramatic and intense, with lots of layers, and lots of twists and turns, all leading to an unexpected but very satisfying conclusion. Layered into the intense drama is the growing attraction between Julianna and Clay, along with the gentle thread of faith woven throughout.

For fans of Christian romantic suspense, this is one not to be missed!

I received a copy from the publisher and Net Galley in exchange for my review. The opinions are my own.

The fact that the main character is a hostage negotiator, made me quite excited to read this book. Of course, I have read books by this author before so I know that I am in for quite the rollercoaster ride, and so it was!

Julianna is the hostage negotiator and lives with her much younger sister, Dottie. I just love the relationship that these two girls have with each other, it was so sweet and caring. Clay is an ex sniper who is struggling with some guilt over things that have happened in the past, and his sister is one of the hostages in the hostage drama that unfolds. He has a close bond with his sister too, and between the four of them, I just wanted to hug them all.

There is a lot going on in this book but all of it was crafted beautifully. The right mix of excitement, faith and relationships of all kinds. Just right.

4.5 stars from me.

I can't wait for the next book in the series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Revell.

To be completely honest, I enjoyed Crossfire so much more than Life Flight! I love how this series has a new set of main characters, yet the main gal is one we've already met in the previous book. Series that continue like this are my favorite!

The threats are real, the scenes are intense, the relationships are messy, and I learned so much about what is involved in hostage negotiating.

Can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Crossfire by Lynette Eason was gripping, and keptl me guessing until the conclusion! I love a good story that has me asking questions well into the plot, and this one had me bouncing all kinds of scenarios over who the antagonist was around my brain as the pages kept turning. This book was well paced with just enough action and just enough down time to make it believable. The romance was a little on the sparse side since this book takes place over a relatively short period of time and the characters have literally just met, but I did feel as though the author kept their romance on the more believable side because of those circumstances. The conclusion was tense and delivered answers and closure for both the reader and the characters. Also, the teaser chapters for the next book were fantastic! So obviously I’m anxiously awaiting book 3!

I really enjoyed this high suspense novel! Lynette Eason’s books are some of my favorite and I enjoyed how all the storylines in Crossfire tied together. Julianna is a hostage negotiator with the FBI who has never lost a hostage. However, things get personal when a copycat hostage taker starts leaving messages and threatening her sister. I couldn’t put this one down!

Another great read by Lynette Eason. This book grabbed me from the very first page and was hard to put down. There is plenty of action and twists a turns that keep you reading. I highly recommend this book to readers who love romantic suspense and Christian romance

The second book in the Extreme Measures series is just as intense and action packed as the first! Lynette Eason is at her best with this series!

Julianna Jameson works for the FBI as a negotiator and has never lost a hostage. When her younger sister, Dottie, shows up to live with her for her last year of high school it may prove to be the hardest job she’s had yet. Julianna crosses paths with Clay Fox who works as security at the school Dottie attends. Julianna saves Clay’s sister who is being held hostage with others inside a courtroom. Clay asks her to come speak, but ghosts from Julianna’s past come back to haunt them putting everyone she cares about at risk. Together they will have to do all they can to save their loved ones and stop those out to hurt them.

Lynette Eason blew me away with the first in this series and Crossfire came out in the first chapter with all the action and suspense. While Crossfire was fantastic it ranks just a notch below the first in the series for me. I really loved Julianna and the chemistry between her and Clay but more so the way she was with trying to help and protect her sister. The way the story unfolded with her having to do her best as a negotiator with the FBI while also trying to protect her sister really helped make it a real page-turner. The baggage that both Julianna and Clay had from their past really made it more relatable characters, not perfect or with nothing weighing them down to make them more realistic.

The characters in these books go through a lot, but with all they go through, it helps them to show growth and real character development. There is a good element of faith throughout, but I never felt as if I was being preached at or annoyed by it, which does sometimes happen with Christian fiction books. Of all the romantic suspense authors I read, Lynette Eason is one of my very favorites for how realistic she makes the stories and is able to get me invested in the characters. I recommend this book to fans that love romantic suspense novels. While this is the second in a series, it could be read without having read the first and still enjoy.

I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

Crossfire is Book #2 in the Extreme Measures Series by award winning author Lynette Eason. It is a contemporary, mystery, suspense, Christian, romance fiction that is just riveting. Action begins on page one and captured my attention immediately.

Author Eason is a talented storyteller. She is masterful in the art of mystery and suspense. As I read I was certain I had something figured out only to have a twist prove me wrong. Her characters are realistic and believable. Friends are tried and true while bad guys are vicious villains. I was so engrossed in the characters and story that I did not want to stop reading this page turning book.

This is the story of special agent Julianna Jameson, a top-notch negotiator, and former Army Ranger sniper Clay Fox. She gets called in to negotiate a courtroom hostage situation. Clay’s sister, Reese, is one of the hostage.

There are so many life and spiritual lessons woven into this captivating story. Good verses evil, darkness verses light, hope, trust, faith, family, love, revenge, and redemption are all tackled in this story. It is a intense story that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The faith element of healing past mistakes and accepting God’s forgiveness was a breath of fresh air. The way the characters felt after receiving God’s forgiveness was beautiful. They illustrated that they could begin again without the weight of the world and past mistakes on their shoulders. It was so inspiring. I was encouraged by the way they asked God for help in the small and big details of their lives.

I highly recommend this amazing, intense book to all readers! It’s so intriguing that you will not want to put it down until the end. It gets a 5 star rating from me. A copy was provided by the publisher, but these are my honest words.

After hearing positive things about this one from my bestie I was really excited to dive in and it did not disappoint!
I loved that it started off with a hostage negotiation scene! Not only did it immediately hook me into the story but it reminded me of one of my favorite books (The Negotiator by Dee Henderson). Hostage negotiator is not a common career in books and that made it even more fascinating to read about!
Clay and Julianna were both really great characters and I liked them together as a couple. They both had some trauma in their past to make peace with but they were able to help each other.
The mystery and suspense angles were well done in this book, there was enough to keep me guessing throughout yet I was able to figure out some of the pieces-the perfect balance!
This was a great follow up to the last book and I am already looking forward to book 3!

*if anyone can explain to me why this book is called Crossfire I would really appreciate it because it made no sense as a title to me!

Crossfire (Extreme Measures #2) by Lynette Eason s a Christian suspense book that has all the things I love about suspense. Characters with integrity, intelligence with common sense, family ties, and great personalities. Characters that I loved. Then there is the POV of the “villain” in the story. While you know what she is thinking it is not easy to figure out exactly who she is. In other words, incredible suspense. Add to that there is nonstop action with a super twist I did not see coming. Lastly this is a faith filled story. Yes, some struggled with their faith but that make this story much more authentic. Themes of revenge verses God’s help in giving and accepting forgiveness is major. Don’t want to forget the sweet finish at the conclusion. Loved that.

Crossfire is truly a page turner from the beginning courtroom hostage taking until the very end. Just as a warning they may be some triggers in this story concerning hostages and school shootings. With so much that has happened lately one should be aware of it. All is handled with sensitivity and sensibility.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

3.5 stars.
An absorbing depiction of a hostage situation involving the negotiating process opens “Crossfire”, by Lynette Eason (Revell), and leaves you at the edge of the seat while you’re introduced to the leads, two strong, vibrant people dealing with inner demons.
I really liked the exciting beginning of the story and thought the author did a great job describing the dramatic and dangerous circumstances in which Julianna and Clay meet.
Both leads experienced trauma in their lives. The heroine, Julianna, became stronger and more resilient with adversity but is still plagued with some insecurities that make her more human.
Clay’s wounds are more recent and still unsolved and he’s still dealing with feelings of deep guilt. His “thoughtfulness and kind heart” are very appealing and him admitting to awkwardness with women he’s interested in is endearing.
I loved the earnestness between Clay and Julianna and how they admit the attraction so candidly. I would have liked a bit more of development of the romantic relationship, because in the second half of the story I felt it stagnated and became a bit boring.
I also liked the secondary characters and their ties and interactions with the leads, although sometimes it all seemed a bit cookie cutter and too easy.
I also enjoyed the interaction and affection between adults and young people.
As for the suspense part I enjoyed it in the beginning but felt it dragged a bit in the second half of the book and could have been abbreviated without loss of consistency.

Crossfire is another great edgy, suspenseful read by Lynette Eason. I was pulled in from the beginning until the end. This is the second of the Extreme Measures series with the stories of young women who started off life with a rocky start in juvie. Julianna was involved in a tragic event in high school and now is a hostage negotiator for the FBI. SRO high school officer Clay Fox and Julianna met when Clay's sister Reese is on a jury where the courtroom is taken over and Julianna is the negotiator. Afterward, this leads to a friendship between Clay, Julianna, Reese, and Jules' sister Dottie. But danger and suspense ramp up as someone else is out there, now messing with Jules. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat as the action and plot unfolds with surprises, twists, turns, and an unstable person avoiding capture. We meet great characters and a story sprinkled with friendship, faith, and a possible romance in the making. Clay, a former Army Ranger sniper, also has a past that is hindering his ability to move forward but with God's help, he is able to confront it. It can be read as a standalone. Those who enjoy suspense with a little romance and faith will like this one.
I received a complimentary copy from Revell Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are mine.

Crossfire is the second book in the Extreme Measures series. While you will definitely see some familiar characters making an appearance from book one, I do believe this could be read just fine as a standalone.

In the first book, we were introduced to a group of friends who met when they were younger through their troubled pasts. The experience bonded them, and they remain close. Each book in this series focusses on one of these women. This one focuses on Julianna, a hostage negotiator for the FBI.

Right from the start, this one was packed with action. Lynette does a great job of giving us just enough information throughout and throwing in surprises that take you for a loop. This one definitely had those twists and turns... right when it seemed like the book was coming to an end, something else would happen to keep me guessing. We were given the perspective of several characters, including the villain in the story, which certainly helped to keep things interesting too. There was one POV that we were given that took me a bit to figure out where they fit into the story, and as such I wasn't sure abut the inclusion. Once everything was all tied up, I found that this character really helped to drive home the idea of forgiveness.

This story did deal with school shootings, and I did find parts of that a little difficult to read... but it was a fantastic story nonetheless. I look forward to seeing what happens next in the series!

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

This book is a thrill ride from beginning to end. Juliana Jameson is an FBI negotiator with a past. That past comes back to haunt her. The stakes are high when her sister and herself become targets of a brilliant mastermind. Just when you think you have it figured out another twist arrives. This is a well written book. I would highly recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Revel for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

I'm so bummed because I swear I wrote a review for this that I really liked, yet it's not here! So I have to try and recreate my first impressions.

Well, the very first impression is that, for some reason, I love books with hostage negotiators. Ever since reading Dee Henderson's The Negotiator, I'm so interested in stories where the MC is a negotiator. I really don't know what it is about that job that fascinates me but there you go.

Also trivial, but I love Julianna's name! I have a friend with the same name and it's just beautiful. But I do have more solid reasons for enjoying this book too :)

I thought that Julianna's past, how it shaped her and formed her present, was really powerful. She is what she is today because of events, rather traumatic events, that she had to live through but she pressed into them and didn't let them defeat her. Or so she thought. As an anniversary comes closer, Julianna realizes that maybe she's giving the past more power over her than she originally thought.

There are some pretty deep realizations that come to Julianna, Clay, and Dottie as the story progresses and there were a few surprises along the way. One interesting thing is that another character's POV is told in first person, though Julianna's is told in third. I don't think I've ever read a story with different POV like that before. It was kind of jolting at first, but then I got used to it.

I wish there had been more of Julianna's friends in the story, but that is my only "complaint" with it. I look forward to the next woman's book!

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

This is Clay and Julianna’s story and you will definitely read this is one day. I could not put this down as it had so many twists and turns.

Julianna is a Hostage Negotiator and meets Clay when she is dealing with a Hostage situation where Clays sister is one of the Hostages. As both lean on each other from that point forward, it is soon obvious someone is still after Julianna and now her sister is in danger as well.

Buckle up for this one because it this book will have you guessing right up to the end!
