My thoughts; Crossfire is the 2nd book in this new series by Lynette Eason. The story is faced-paced and interesting and I couldn't put it down. I loved getting to know Julianna and Dottie and had to keep reading as the action picked up. Dottie is an amazing teen and I'd love to read more about her in the future. There is a hint of a romance but nothing really settled, it seemed more friendship. If you like suspense with a hint of romance you will love this book. It is a bit creepy at times and while I did guess part of the story, another part kept me guessing. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.

Page turning and totally engrossing book. Once you start you can't stop, The storyline and the trust that the characters place in Jesus is inspirational. It's such a reminder to me of God's loving care for us all.

Ah another Lynette Eason thriller. A great addition to my summer reading list. I was really looking forward to this novel and the continuation of the story. I love the element of the 4 friends that met in juvie and following how their lives ended up. It was a fun, fast read (my favourite) but I found the story a little predictable. I am looking forward to the next installment!

4.5⭐That's what I love about a good suspense story, you fall in love with the characters, get caught up in the action, and the next thing you know, you're in for a crazy ride.

Special agent Julianna, a top negotiator, path crossed with former army sniper Clay, when she was called in to negotiate a courtroom hostage situation involving Clay’s sister Reese, who was one of the hostages. Clay finds himself intrigued by the beautiful, FBI agent. Unfortunately, his former life as an army sniper has left him with some pretty heavy emotional baggage, making him hesitant to form emotional attachments.

The characters are well-developed - realistic, flawed human beings trying to do their best in a flawed world. A faith-inspired of healing past mistakes and accepting God’s forgiveness and true freedom.

The suspense plot had me intrigued. We get glimpses of who is behind it, but we don’t truly piece it together almost until the end. The final twist was unexpected. An intense story of revenge and redemption.

Crossfire by Lynette Eason starts out with a literal bang. Julianna Jamerson is a hostage negotiator and from page one, she’s negotiating with a madman threatening a courtroom full of people. Clay Fox’s sister is one of the trapped victims. But things take a terrifying turn when a killer uses hostage situations to threaten both Julianna and her sister, Dottie. Clay steps in to protect them both, but it’s obvious that someone from Julianna’s past wants to make her suffer.

This story is intense. But despite meeting during extreme circumstances, Julianna and Clay’s relationship is sweet. Clay helps Julianna unpack her past from a time when she was on the flip side of a hostage situation. This story has the right balance of action, romance and drama. This is definitely a must for suspense fans!

Called to a hostage situation is not unusual for negotiator FBI Special Agent Julianna Jameson, but this one is at the courthouse. She is unable to see the person with whom she is negotiating, but luckily one of the jurors has a phone and is able to text what is happening. Clay Fox, former sniper with the Army Rangers, works as a school resource officer at the local school. He left the service after a “friendly fire” incident occurred due to incorrect intel. Clay learns that his sister’s jury duty is now a hostage situation and heads to the courthouse. When the situation is resolved, a growing friendship between Clay and Julianna adds a nice touch of romance to this complex mystery. When Julianna was in high school, her ex-boyfriend killed another student and was taken out by law enforcement. Julianna is already stressed due to the upcoming anniversary of the incident and when she and Dottie are targeted, she has no idea why. Someone wants to make sure that Julianna pays with her life, but for what? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Always outstanding! Eason does her research and represents law enforcement in the perfect way. Four girls went to juvenile hall as teens but were fortunate enough to have the right mentor. Each book is the story for one of the girls, Crossfire is for Julianna. She’s a top notch hostage negotiator, on an assignment she meets Clay, a school resource officer. Turns out they have lots in common including sisters that might just be best friends. There are some serious issues discussed here, plenty of them relevant to today. I can appreciate how she brings up the topic of God and Christianity, not in your face but as a subtle reminder that things are out of our hands. All of her books are exciting, tasteful and quick reads. I received my copy through Netgalley and provided my review voluntary.

The story of Juliana, a hostage negotiator with the FBI, and school resource officer, Clay, starts strong and kept me turning pages from the beginning. The book is complex, with a variety of factors in play. I enjoyed these characters, with appearances by figures from the first book in the series. Great suspense and intensity, good romance, and a very entertaining read!

This is a fantastic read!
Suspense at its finest. You will not want to put this book down. I felt like I was there, heart racing, trying to find the unknown danger.
The characters are well developed. Past trauma haunts. What will successfully bring closure? When one situation gets resolved, here comes another.
Will vulnerability bring healing or more hurt?
I highly recommend this read!

** “I do believe that God is in control, but we’re not robots. We make choices. Sometimes those choices affect other people, in good ways and not-so-good ways. I just try to make better choices now.” **

Lynette Eason delivers an incredible, heart-pumping romantic thriller with “Crossfire,” the second novel in her Extreme Measures series.

When FBI Special Agent Julianna Jameson gets called in to negotiate a hostage situation at a courtroom, her life soon turns upside down. There she meets Clay Fox, a school resource officer whose sister is one of the courtroom hostages. As more and more deadly events occur surrounding Julianna and Clay, and their two sisters, they must race time to figure out who seems to be out for Julianna — and why.

Once again Eason creates an amazing action-packed story with twists and turns that will keep the reader guessing. Her characters are always very relatable, with very real flaws and issues they must overcome.

“Crossfire” also includes many great themes, like dealing with invisible enemies like anxiety; God has a plan (Jeremiah 29:11); all life is precious; the call to be kind and offer forgiveness (Ephesians 4:32); the power of words; dealing with blame; and the ability to offer grace (“Why is it we can give other people more grace than we’ll give ourselves?”).

Fans of authors like Patricia Bradley, Janice Cantore and Irene Hannon will love this novel, as well as fans of Ted Dekker’s psychological thrillers.

Five stars out of five.

In true Eason style we're given another action packed story.

The story begins with a hostage situation at the courthouse, where Clay's sister is a juror and FBI negotiator Julianna works to get them all out alive. They form a friendship, then Julianna and her sister become targets. With lives on the line, they work fast to uncover who's behind the attacks, but when they think it's solved, they realize there's something they missed.

Both characters have painful pasts and throughout the story we watch how confiding and supporting each other brings hope for healing, to grieve and to forgive.

This was a sit down and turn pages til the end kind of story, so find a comfy spot and some snacks. Recommend for the Christian suspense lovers!

Julianna is an FBI hostage negotiator and is proud of the fact that she has never lost a hostage. She is fearful of relationships and is responsible of taking care of her younger sister Dottie, an intelligent and precocious teen who frequently makes Julianna take a hard look at her life. When Julianna meets Clay, an SRO at the local high school, she is attracted but won’t allow herself to trust him because of an incident in her past when she trusted the wrong man. In this story, the threats against Julianna are the central focus and finding out who is behind the threats provides the suspense and the mystery. Julianna has a painful secret in her past that has led to her successful career as a hostage negotiator, but she is not willing to share that secret with others so that she can possibly overcome it. The pacing in this book is absolute perfection, going from one hostage negotiation scenario to another and with the villain seemingly always a step ahead of the FBI. There are some really tense moments that take place that had me on the edge of my seat and almost biting my nails as I hoped for a good outcome. The characters are well-developed and realistic microcosms of society, flawed human beings trying to do their best in a flawed world. Clay, the romantic interest in the story, has his own past that is keeping him from moving forward, a traumatic incident that he has to deal with. The way the characters and plot move together makes the story believable and thoroughly entertaining romantic suspense. Faith is woven into the story and is an integral part of the lives of the characters. The themes of forgiveness of self and others, learning to trust God and people, and forming relationships that last are timeless and presented in an honest way that is also thought-provoking at times. Fans of romantic suspense will devour this latest book by Eason and enjoy the time spent with hostage negotiation and with teens exploring all life has to offer.

Crossfire is the newest book by one of the queens of suspense, Lynette Eason. Crossfire is a fantastic suspense-filled novel with a bit of romance, a few plot twists, and wonderful, well-developed characters. the plot is engaging and the setting is realistic. This is book 2 of the series but can be read as a stand-alone. I would add that there are some scenes that occur in a school setting that could cause discomfort to some readers. I really enjoyed the way Lynette wove the character's faith into the plot. She made their faith or lack of faith, a natural part of their character.

So grab your beverage of choice and settle in to read Crossfire. Caution, don't start late at night unless you don't have to get up early. You won't want to set this book down until you finish it!

#NetGalley gave me a copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

Crossfire by Lynette Eason is action packed from the very start and doesn't let up until it is over. It was hard for me to put down because I wanted to see what was going to happen next. Julianna is a strong and determined hostage negotiator for the FBI and cares for her younger sister Dottie. Clay is a school resource officer at Dottie's school and a former Army Ranger. Both Julianna and Clay are reeling from past traumas in their lives when they meet and work to overcome them through the course of the novel.

I found the characters to be very interesting and the slow burn romance between the two leads to be more believable than some other books that I've read. I had no idea who the culprit was until they were revealed which was nice.

This was an excellent novel and I can't wait for the third in the series. I was given a copy of this book from Revell. All opinions are my own.

Rating 4.5

Lynette Eason never disappoints. When I open a book written by this author, I know that I will experience a thrilling ride. And that was what I got from the opening line. The hostage situations were suspenseful and how the negotiators handled the situations, was great to learn about.

“I do believe that God is in control, but we’re not robots. We make choices. Sometimes those choices affect other people, in good ways and not-so-good ways. I just try to make better choices now.”

On top of the great relationship development between the two main characters, the relationship between the siblings as well as the friendship between Reese and Dottie was sweet to be part of.

The culprit was merciless and their POV showed a twisted side, but that there was definitely more to the story.

God was good. Living in a fallen world meant there would be the bad times, but he was still good.

Highly recommended to fans of romantic suspense.

An action packed book that was difficult to put down. I quickly turned page after page. Julianna was a character with amazing strengths. She attempted to keep hidden her one major weakness. This weakness just might get her killed as well as her sister.

Clay met the FBI negotiator and couldn't stop thinking of her. He, too, had a weakness that stopped him from commitment.

A crime that needed to be solved. Julianna knew it was up to her to be the one to solve it.

I enjoyed this book as well as the first book in the series: Life Flight. Great story.

I received this book to review from Revell.
