August brings the second exciting installment in the Extreme Measures series, with 'Cross fire'. Not only do we interact with previous characters like Daria (who is getting her own book later this year!) but we get to meet Juliana who is a hostage negotiator and Clay.

I started this book and couldn't put it down. I loved the mystery as well as the twists and turns the story took along the way. As a result, it will most definitely be finding a home at my library.

I loved the characters (That includes the side ones), their stories and the themes that tied the book together. I recieved this in exchange for an honest review but I'm delighted to report, that like Lynette's other books, this was a must read for me.

Crossfire is book 2 in the Extreme Measures series by Lynette Eason. Even though it’s the second story in this series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone.

I really enjoyed Crossfire. It kept my interest the whole time. I felt like it was perfectly paced. There was enough action to make it interesting, but not so much that it was unbelievable. I spent most of the story trying to figure out who the bad guy was. I love when a story keeps me guessing until the very end! The romance took more of a backseat than I normally like, but since Julianna and Clay had just met, and I’m not a huge fan of insta love, it was more believable to me.

I’m really looking forward to book 3 in this series. There are also teaser chapters at the end of Crossfire that have me more than ready for Targeted, a novella collection, that contains Daria’s story!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own. The faith thread is light.

Thanks to Revell for the free book.
Eason sure does know how to hook a reader from the first page right through the end. This book was fast-paced and gripping. I was immediately invested in Julianna and her job as a hostage negotiator. The case was interesting and complex. I also liked Dottie and how having a much younger sister added a good balance here to the seriousness of the book. I also was a big fan of Clay. He was a man that had regrets and past mistakes to work through, yet he was a champion of the kids in the school where he worked. I also liked how Clay and Julianna came together to help and support each other through the stresses of this book. There was a plot line that I was completely confused about until the end because I didn't put the pieces together. Maybe it should've been more obvious, but it felt muddled to me. However, when it did pull together at the end, it was a really sweet moment. If you're a fan of crime fiction, I recommend this one. There are lots of graphic details and a school shooting plot line.

'Honestly, if he thought God would listen, he'd discard his pride and pray.'

Lynette Eason kicked off her Extreme Measures series in a powerful way and she continues with this second offering. She gives us a great plot, believable characters, and enough action to keep her readers captivated throughout. Then, as if that weren't enough, Eason throws in a 'no-one-saw-this coming' twist, total surprise here, then tops it with another one! Absolutely riveting! Completely blew me away. This book was just great. Well done!

I received a copy of this book through the Revell Reads program. The opinion here is totally my own.

Crossfire by Lynette Eason is one of her best books to date and that is saying a lot. The opening negotiation scene will have your heart pumping.

Julianna is a highly trained and capable FBI negotiator who is also trying to support her sister in her last year of high school. I thoroughly enjoyed getting a behind the scenes look at how Julianna worked the negations, and her positive female friendships.

Clay meets her at the first negotiation because his sister is one of the hostages. Clay is a former army sniper and currently the school resource officer where Julianna’s sister attends high school.

The two sisters were a perfect addition to the story.

Lynette handles some tough topics; school bullying, school shootings, friendly fire in the military, abusive relationships, PTSD and dealing with guilt and forgiveness.

Although this is the second book in the series it can be read as a stand alone and you do not feel that you missed anything. Penny from the first book is mentioned but the storylines do not tie together.

I highly recommend. Crossfire has compelling characters and a story that draws you in from the first scene. I couldn’t put the book down and finished in less than 24 hours.

Lynette Eason has once again done it with ease, dropped us right into an explosive situation.
It's fascinating to read about the different branches of law enforcement. and the main character law enforcement officers in this series are women as well which makes it so we get a women's perspective of the problems.
This one is a FBI special agent top-notch negotiator. I've never read one where a negotiator was the lead. My son is a LEO so these types of books fascinate me. There is so much to learn.
The book was pretty intense with so much going on, nonstop action.
In this one, it got personal the suspect wants to take what they believe is well deserved revenge for a past incident.
Former sniper with the 75th Ranger Regiment, Clay Fox can't get FBI negotiator Julianna off his mind but is there a chance a romance will happen with so much action happening?
When a hostage situation that hits too close for comfort ,these two are racing against the clock to try to make it right. Kept me reading late into the night. I had to see how it ended. Highly recommended!

This book has it all – adventure, mystery, action and a romance that sparks.
This story opens with a bang – Julianna Jameson is a hostage negotiator and she’s called in to help a situation. It’s intense – readers are dropped into the middle of the action and stay right there until the end. Clay is a school resource officer, who happens to be the brother of a woman being held hostage. As Clay and Julianna work together, readers are treated to a slow burn romance.
As always, readers can expect twists and turns that aren’t easily figured out. And there are just as many intense moments that will keep the lights on until the wee hours of the morning.
If you’re looking for an action-packed, suspenseful, summer read, look no further.
I’m looking forward to the next instalment of Lynette Eason’s Extreme Measures.
I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

Crossfire by Lynette Eason packs a heap of adventure, mystery, and suspense into one book. Ms. Eason excels at adventure suspense and this latest addition to the Extreme Measures series extends her talent. I thoroughly enjoyed this fast-paced and explosive storyline filled with excellent characters and unique situations. I enjoyed the relationships developed between the characters as well as the focus on the reconnecting of sibling relationships. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for action, adventure, romance, and a search for faith, courage, and forgiveness. I highly recommend this book and hope that you have the opportunity to read it.

Julianna Jameson has a shadowed past and a thriving career in the FBI as a hostage negotiator, but has even more responsibility on her shoulders as she watches out for her younger sister Dottie. Dottie is a high school senior and has her own struggles and issues that put her at odds with her older sister. Julianna prides herself on her ability to resolve conflicts peacefully, having never lost a hostage in her career.

Julianna's life changes drastically shortly after she negotiates a dangerous hostage situation in a courtroom. Clay Fox, a former military sniper turned high school resource officer, runs into Julianna during the courtroom hostage negotiation as his sister is one of the jury members held hostage. As Clay watches the situation unfold, he is impressed by how calmly and capably Julianna deals with the situation. Clay still struggles to get past a difficult incident in his military career, which caused him to leave the military life and even to question his ability to truly use his weapon if needed. Clay and Julianna end up spending more time together after the situation at the courthouse due to their younger sisters developing a friendship and Clay asking Julianna to speak at the school.

Soon Julianna is looking over her shoulders constantly as more and more suspicious things keep happening, leading her to believe that she is being targeted by some nefarious person. Clay wants to help and protect Julianna, but soon realizes that anyone close to her is in danger. Clay, his sister, Julianna, and Dottie are all targeted by this unknown and eerie villain. As Julianna and Clay investigate all of Julianna's previous cases to see why someone would be targeting her, Julianna gets the sinking feeling that the person behind the attacks is from her past. Julianna doesn't want to think about her past trauma from a school shooting, but soon realizes that someone from that horrible event is out for revenge.

Julianna and everyone she loves are in the sights of the villainous character seeking some twisted sort of revenge. Can Julianna keep her sister protected? Can Clay help Julianna discover who is the person behind the threats before more innocent lives are taken? Can Julianna let go of the hurt and scars from her past to move on? Will Clay be able to protect Julianna and others even if it requires him to use his military training again? Can Clay and Julianna's tentative relationship survive the threats and deadly attacks? Will the criminal be brought to justice before more lives are taken? Read the high adrenalin adventure in Crossfire to find out for yourself. Happy readings!

Crossfire is the second book in Lynette Eason’s Extreme Measures series. FBI Special Agent Julianna Jameson is a negotiator in hostage situations. Clay Fox is a School Resource Office at the high school where Julianna’s sister attends. Clay’s sister is on a jury where the accused, once convicted, takes the courtroom hostage. Clay is impressed with Julianna as she works to free everyone before someone is killed. There is a lot of suspense when Julianna’s own sister is taken hostage in what looks to be a copycat situation, making the job personal and much more difficult. The book kept me engrossed the entire time. I love the characters and the strength of the women in the book. It is a must read for all those who love suspense and romance thrown in together. I have never been disappointed with Lynette Eason’s books!

Thanks to Revell Publishing and Netgalley for an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Crossfire is the second book in the Extreme Measures, but also works as a standalone story.

As with other Lynette Eason books, Crossfire starts by dropping readers straight into the action. Julianna Jameson is an FBI Negotiator, called to a hostage situation in a bank. She manages to talk the hostages out with the help from Reese, who’s trapped inside but able to text her brother Clay. Former Army Ranger Clay Fox left the military after tragedy struck. He’s guarded his heart ever since, unable to forgive himself for taking an innocent life.

Clay and Julianna work together on a project but soon get sucked in to a fight to stop whoever is threatening Julianna and her teenage sister, Dottie. As the two work together and draw closer, both must struggle to put the past behind them. Julianna’s involvement with a stalker and school shooting races back into her present. Meanwhile Clay must move beyond being betrayed by a colleague.

The plot was certainly unpredictable, with a new twist about eighty percent of the way through that I did not see coming. Clay and Julianna were both very likable and had me rooting for them from the first chapter. I especially loved the themes of forgiving oneself and forgiving others and the blessings that comes from doing so. Unfortunately, we also see the consequences of not being able to forgive.

Highly recommended for readers of romantic suspense who enjoy a good dose of hope along with the action.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley, the opinion are my own.

Readers will get a glimpse into the life of a FBI hostage negotiator in this new installment of the Extreme Measures series. I loved the concept of highlighting law enforcement groups in fiction to show their value. Both Julianna and Clay have a painful past to overcome in this meaningful story. I love that the author added some twists and turns to keep the story suspenseful to the end. Faith played a very important part as each characters struggled with their own issues. Highly recommended!

Every time I pick up a Lynette Eason book, I am amazed at the uniqueness of each one. This book is no exception. The premise of a hostage negotiator being pulled into an almost impossible situation is intriguing, as is the heroine herself. The hero of the story is unusual in that he's a school resource officer which isn't typically featured in suspense novels involving law enforcement. Julianna and Clay are both loyal, dependable, and great at their jobs but also suffer from PTSD from their past. I enjoyed getting to know Dottie, Julianna's 18 yo sister, and Reese, Clay's younger sister. These secondary characters tied the plot together nicely and made all the suspense believable and real.

Getting the perpetrator's first person perspective was interesting, and the identity of the villain is definitely surprising. Filled with fast-paced action and twists and turns in the plot, the book will keep you on the edge of your seat. Faith thread in the story is solid and romance between Julianna and Clay is just the right amount.

Fans of romantic suspense will absolutely adore this story. I received the book from Baker Publishing Group via Interviews & Reviews and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.

Crossfire is another great addition to this series by Lynette Eason — one of my favorite Christian Suspense authors.
Julianna and Clay come together when his sister is taken hostage and Julianna is called to negotiate for the FBI. After the incident Julianna has a target on her back but who is stalking her? And why?
She and Clay work together to find answers while they both have things in their past that hinder their future. As the danger ramps up, will they be able to find forgiveness and stay alive in the meantime?
I love the building relationship between Julianna and Clay—the pull of attraction, the doubts, the hopes—as they learn to trust God and each other.
A truly exceptional story.

More! Lynette Eason, we need more!

I’ve been waiting for Crossfire, book 2 in the Extreme Measures series! Lynette Eason is great at capturing the reader from page one and pulling us along with great plot twists and page-turning adventures and conflict. Plus, a little romance.

Julianna Jameson meets us with a former Ranger sniper, Clay Fox who left the army after a tragic incident that he can't get over. Now he's working as a high school resource officer until he can figure out what to do with the rest of his life.

There’s a shadowy figure from Julianna’s past that is leaving a trail of bodies with clues that neither Julianna nor Clay can figure out. But they had better solve the mystery soon, or their loved ones could be the next victims.

I would love to learn more about the friends’ origin story, will that be coming in book 3?

Highly recommend for lovers of action, thriller, suspense, mystery, and clean and wholesome reads—plus a bit of romance. Thanks to Revell for the advanced eBook copy of #Crossfire through #netgalley for my honest review.

Once again, Lynette Eason has blown me out of the water. She took my heart through a roller coaster of emotions with Crossfire. Rapid paced with enough mystery to keep my mind spinning, this ride was one I desperately wanted to reach the end of…while at the same time, get back in line to read it all over again. Typically, I have some negative feedback of some sort, even if it’s minor. With Crossfire by Lynette Eason, I can’t think of anything. Not a single darn worn. It’s probably because I was so drawn into the story that I couldn’t consider anything but Clay and Julianna. And, truth be told, I didn’t want to.

Romance books have stereotypes. This one did, too. Two characters with no prior association, meeting for the first time in dire circumstances. Sparks of attraction flew, but they didn’t let the tiny flames consume them. Instead, Eason wove the romance flawlessly into the plotline. It doesn’t distract from the story; instead, it adds another element that makes Crossfire even better. There’s no dramatic profession of love from either side (is that a spoiler?), but they feel fate pulling them together. And Clay and Julianna are willing to explore it…in time. There’s no rush to the altar or an engagement, thank you Lynette Eason. Crossfire is a slow burn to a healthy, growing relationship.

I loved seeing old characters return (hi, Penny and Holt), along with a couple of their closest friends, who I am sure will eventually receive love stories of their own. Eason described things without overdoing (or underdoing) it. She gives readers glimpses into the minds of the book’s major players, including an unknown individual whose true significance Eason does not reveal until close to the novel’s end. I enjoyed Crossfire’s tension and suspense, but honestly? I think I appreciated the subplot surrounding this particular character the most. Above the excitement, romance, and everything else. I’ll let everyone else discover why!

Crossfire by Lynette Eason is a model for the romantic suspense genre. After all the Eason books I’ve read, I’m starting to believe I should just say she’s one of the best authors of the genre today. There hasn’t been a single Eason book I haven’t enjoyed. Crossfire is no exception. Back to the roller coaster analogy: Some have seatbelts. Others have lap bars. For this one, you’ll want the shoulder/chest contraptions, because this ride never stops. It’ll steal the breath from your lungs all the way to the finish.
