Clarissa is an author who is having a hard time penning her next book. She decides to go to a familiar cabin in hopes of getting inspiration and ends up discovering a young teen by the name of Trisha, who along with Jackie, Amber and Wanda just excaped from a sex trafficking ring. Clarissa and Trisha are determined to find the other girls and get every one home safely.

This was a heart pounding, emotional and exciting read. It did not take me long at all to finish once I started. I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end. This suspensful story kept my attention from beginning to end and I will be looking for more stories from this author.

My thanks to Chistell Pub, as well as to NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of Escaping Toward Freedom: Journey out of trauma back to love and safety

Imagine doing your very best to right a wrong, while being stalked and hunted.

There were parts of this book I definitely enjoyed. Clarissa's heart was in the right place and the girls were believable for the most part.

However, I found myself struggling with the amount of minute detail in Escaping Toward Freedom. I don't feel I need to know what someone is placing in, or removing, from their refrigerator. I don't need the details of how someone goes to the sink and gets a glass of water. I don't need the detail of how someone nudges their suitcase with their foot in order to get it in the house. I don't need to know that the orange juice was stirred with a long-handled wooden spoon. It felt jarring to me. But then I became more intrigued by the plot and for the most part, the minuscule details became easier to overlook.

Sadly, the last quarter of the book fell apart for me. Clarissa was supposed to be struggling financially, yet she was able to fly herself and the girls around??

Worst of all, Clarissa's friends (who had been in special forces, and who had vowed to protect Clarissa and the girls) had to go home because their wives wouldn't tolerate their spending one night being around single females. What? They can only protect married women?? I know it was to move the plot forward, but there had to be a better way!

Anyway, I loved the very last sentence of the book. I saw it coming but it was still nice.

This is the first book I have read by this author.

Escaping Toward Freedom tells the story of Clarissa a thirty-eight-year-old single woman living in a luxury two-story townhouse in Sandy Springs, GA, and currently experiencing writer's block.

Deciding she needed a break she headed towards northern Georgia wanting to experience again the rolling hills and the quiet she experienced previously which lead to her turning out a best seller. Staying in the same cabin was sure to be an inspiration for Clarissa.

Little does Clarissa know that her life is about to change, drastically when she finds four teens a product of human trafficking. Edge of your seat story that is captivating and holds your attention until the very end.
