This twisty turny thriller will keep you guessing right till the end. I read it in 2 sittings and was a bit sad but just noticed how many other books she’s penned. That’s Christmas sorted!

When I started reading this book I thought it was going to be an excellent read but unfortunately the pace slowed down too much for me after a few chapters. Found myself skimming through it. Just an ok read for me 2.5 ⭐️

Thank you Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for this great book.
Sabine is certainly now on my favourite suspense writer's list. And this would have made a great holiday read but I wasn't on holiday!. This book had a great main character and finished far too quickly for me.
Definitely recommend.

I very much enjoyed Sun Damage! I found the story intriguing and it kept me engaged all the way through. I loved following Ali and seeing how she was going to manage once she escaped from Sean's clutches to try and make things work on her own. I had my suspicions about what might have happened with Lulu but I was so invested in Ali that I didn't quite put it all together. I loved the complex family dynamic in the house - they way none of them truly knew each other despite seemingly close connections as this so often the case in reality. I was also intrigued by Rob and whether we were getting the whole truth from him. The ending was very satisfying. I loved this one and will be recommending everyone to put it on their summer reading stacks!

This was such a wonderful surprise of a book! It's got a similar level of intensity to other books I've read, such as 'The Resort' by @suewatsonbooks and 'The Perfect Holiday' by @tjemersonwrites, yet it's completely original in so many ways too.

There is absolutely no let up in the tension, from the engaging opening right until the twisty and exciting ending. This makes for a gripping and addictive read, which I gobbled up in under 24 hours. I actually read about 80% completely engrossed whilst sat in the hairdressers - I loved it!

The tension, the heat, the unease; it is all palpable throughout and at times it felt very much like the most gripping cat and mouse chase ever!

Sabine also builds a really complex and interesting character in Ali, and provides a satisfying twist!

Overall, a definite 5 star read!

Ooo this was fab! I really liked it. 'Conning' is one of my favourite genres and this didn't disappoint. It was clever until the end,

Unfortunately, I have been locked out of my netgalley account for a few months and was not able to see which books I had on my list or even know to check if they downloaded properly, in order to properly read and review. I do apologize and am doing a 3 for neutral. Will update once I’m able to obtain a copy and read!

This book had me hooked. With characters that you hate to love this has all the twists and turns of a thrilling rollercoaster with the squishy comfort of Stella characters. I cannot wait to read more from this author.

This was a bit of a slow burner for me, I usually love Sabine's work but did find myself putting this down more often than not.

Thoroughly brilliant read. This was a sizzling twisty thriller, set in the South of France.

It was unputdownable. Ali is a con artist, working with Sean, her controlling and cruel mentor. Having worked together on several scams, Ali is aware that she wants to break free, and events finally take over which convince her to make the leap and run away from his control.

I don’t want to go into the plot further as I wouldn’t want to spoil it but it is just brilliantly done, and would make a fab tv drama!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Thanks to NetGalley, Hodder & Stoughton and Sabine Durrant for the ARC of Sun Damage.

Whilst not what I expected at all from the synopsis, I really enjoyed this book. Ali and conman Sean make money through deceit. When they meet a girl at their resort who seems like the ideal target, Aii plays along; that is until Sean takes things too far.

Fearing for her life, Ali flees, only to be mistaken for a chef at a luxury resort. With a house full of strangers, can Ali keep her identity hidden no matter what?!

A great twist on the usual con / villa thriller - a solid four stars from me :)

"Nine guests arrive at a remote villa in the south of France.
They know each other well. Or think they do.
But at least one of them has plenty to hide - and nowhere to run.
Under the relentless sun, loyalties will be tested, secrets revealed, and tensions pushed to the point of no return."

The set-up for Sun Damage is clever, and the upper middle class comedy-of-manners once Ali arrives at the villa is satisfying, but it lacks some of the propulsive tension I have come to except from Sabine Durrant. A good holiday read, but ultimately I didn't enjoy it as much as her previous books.

A gripping read with detestable characters. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

Sabine Durrant is always an engaging writer and this novel began with a gripping and exciting set-up; who doesn't love to see a con-artist at work! The next section set in the holiday villa with Ali taking on Lulu's identity was not quite as interesting and stretched my credulity a bit. Quite satisfying ending though.

Sun Damage is a sultry crime mystery set in the South of France. I liked the setting and the premise of con artists plying their trade. The pace was a little slow but it is a competent holiday read. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

Sun Damage is a novel that crackles with suspense. Initially shocking, set in Sainte-Cécile-sur-Mer, South of France, Sabine Durrant serves up a thriller that I couldn't tear my eyes from, even though other activities competed for attention. The tale focuses on Ali, a young woman from a difficult background, who is with conman Sean, travelling around tourist spots, preying on strangers with money. With wonderfully complex characters, the author's writing is stylish and the plot is deliciously dark. A perfect read for the summer, I can't wait to see what comes from Sabine Durrant's pen going forward.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel from Hodder & Stoughton via NetGalley at my request and this review is my own unbiased opinion.
