Absolutely excellent - I loved Billy's first book and loved this one too - my husband has also read and he thinks it should have 6 stars!

I’d like to thank Hodder & Stoughton and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Survive To Fight’ written by Billy Billingham & Conor Woodman in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Ex-SAS Matt Mason is in Mozambique and contracted to protect elephants from poaches. He’s looking forward to meeting up with his daughter Jo who has graduated from Naval College and is currently working part time on a billionaire’s yacht. But when he hears the boat has been captured by Somali pirates he intends finding her and calls in favours from former contacts.

I’ve enjoyed reading ‘Survive To Fight’ which has plenty of action and adventure from the start. I haven’t read the first book in the Matt Mason series and although I’d like to in the future I haven’t felt at a disadvantage for not doing so. I wondered if it would appeal more to male readers but it’s just as exciting for females and easy to get completely involved in the story. It’s an exciting thriller that’s based in various locations around the world and I’m happy to recommend it.

Survive to Fight is a good, solid follow up to the impressive first in this series with an interesting storyline and a good plot.

Ivory smuggling is a lucrative business but so too are other things and Wang Li Lan of the Wang Trading Company is never one to miss out on an opportunity to expand. Unfortunately for her ex-special forces soldier Matt Mason, on a private security contract at the Niassa Game Reserve in Mozambique has other ideas.

I found Survive to Fight easy to get into and it moved along at a good pace, the plot highlighted real issues and the characters were well written making it an interesting read from start to finish.

Although the second in a series this could easily be read as a standalone novel

Initially I found this a little hard to follow as locations moved around the world but once a few connections were made the book flowed brilliantly. Plenty of action and deception with likeable characters who were not afraid to pull some punches as they solve a kidnapping and crush a smuggling ring. I really enjoyed this book, thank you to Netgalley for the advance reader copy.

Matt Mason is attempting to put the army behind him, building a life for himself training anti-poaching forces on a Kenyan game reserve.
He's looking forward to meeting up with his eldest child, Jo, who has graduated naval college and taken a summer job working on a billionaire's yacht in the Red Sea. But then he receives a call informing him that Jo's boat is missing, likely abducted by Somali pirates.
Mason must call in favours from old contacts as he follows Jo's trail. She isn't the abduction target, she won't be worth the pirates keeping for long. But she is still Matt Mason's daughter, and she knows she needs to survive to fight. Fantastic… All guns blazing from the very start… I was glued to each page….

A nail biting thriller from an author who clearly knows what he is writing about.

The second Matt Mason book is, if anything, even better than the first. Still smarting from his betrayal by the political wing of the government, Matt Mason decides to work on a game reserve protecting the elephants. However, when he finds an entire elephant family wiped out, he decides to follow the ivory to stop the trafficking. In the meantime a tycoon finds himself in danger, leading to Mason being threatened with the loss of everything he holds dear.

Warning, this is seriously good, and you won't want to put it down.
