Sky finds herself living on a tiny island off the coast of Cornwall, sent by her workplace to study strange weather patterns. Here she meets local man Walter who has his own ways of predicting the weather, and knows all the local folklore. Is there any truth in the local myths, and can Sky get to the bottom of the mystery?
As expected there are also romance elements to the book, which makes it a lighthearted summery read.
Alongside these storylines, there is an exploration of hidden and visible illness. To me, it didn't quite fit in with the rest of the book, and in places I felt like I was reading two different texts. That said, I felt it was sensitively handled and informative.

It was so lovely to be reunited with the town and townspeople of at Felix. I absolutely love Ali's books and she has been one of my favourite authors for such a long time.
This one however really did resonate with me on a personal level. As someone with an invisible chronic illness it is so easy for us to get overlooked. Because we don't look sick or look like we have any struggles and it's really hard to hold things together all the time. I have been where Sky is during this book. Where all you want is to be normal, to hide your symptoms away from the world (I'm still finding letting people in hard) I also know how it is to not want to give into your chronic illness, to long to be who you were before and not come to grips with everything. But I have also learnt that you have to come to grips with the fact that you are a completely different person now. That you have different needs out of life, the way that you have to navigate it has changed, you loose people who used to be important to you and you learn that the most important thing is coming to terms with who you are now.
It's such an emotional hard thing to come to terms with and Ali as always writes about these things in such a sensitive and understanding way and really does show all sides of the process of acceptance.
I also loved the other characters in the book and the adorable dogs.
This is such a great book and thank you for sharing your experiences through this book Ali.
I loved it.

A great story on accepting yourself. A thoroughly enjoyable book and I loved the cameos from some familiar faces!

Another fabulous book from Ali McNamara as always. Set in St Felix in Cornwall, it has a wonderful main character in Sky and another called Sonny. This is an excellent summer read.

We are back in St Felix in the beautiful Cornwall. This book we meet Sky who is hiding a secret from everyone and is there to complete work based on the weather.
Jamie a weather presenter is thrown into the mix and their friendship begins to form.
Imagine discovering that you've got more in common than you thought.
A beautiful book and a lovely escape to Cornwall with characters you fall in love with.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Another of Ali's books set in the magical town of St Felix (and the island of Aurora which is just off it). Fabulously magical summer read!

Another Ali McNamara book that I sped through! The weather is the focus in this one and it made for a very enjoyable read. I also enjoyed reading about a main character who had to use a wheelchair, it was an interesting integral part of the story.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an early copy in return for an honest review.

Another magical story by one of my favourite writers. Once again the setting is the wonderful St Felix, a beautiful but oh so slightly magical Cornish town. This time the focus is on the weather (and it’s much more interesting than it sounds!). Sky is sent to study unusual weather patterns in the area. She sees this as a way back after some serious health issues but her calm approach to life is disrupted by the larger than life Sonny/Jamie - a weather presenter with a huge fan base. There’s romance, mystery, drama, cameos from some much loved characters and some really strange weather! There’s also an interesting subtext around disability and the struggle to accept life changing issues. Perfect.

What a wonderful summer read, it has really succeeded in making me feel home sick for Cornwall. The author has nailed the spirit and feel for Cornwall and the magic it brings to those who visit. I envisioned st Michaels mount and Padstow and a few of my other favourite haunts.
Thank you for a lovely read, well written and a nice easy read which I hope will make thousands of others smile this year.

I received an ARC of, Cornish Clouds and Silver Linings by Ali McNamara. This is a lovely book, with lovely characters. I loved getting to know Sky, with her scientific mind, and invisible illness. St. Felix seems to be a wonderful town, with mysterious weather.

A visit to Aurora, an island just off the very familiar St Felix in Cornwall . It’s like visiting old friends going to St Felix and it’s familiar characters. There is still a touch of magic in the air when Sky a meteorologist takes a job on Aurora to study some unusual weather patterns. With her dog Fitz they get more than they bargained for when joining Talia a student researcher comes Sonny Samuels disgraced weather presenter and Sky has to learn to live with him. They are both hiding secrets can they trust each other and find out the mystery behind the strange weather.
Ali McNamara is a great advocate for highlighting hidden illness and through her experiences explains it very well and how difficult it can be to accept help.
A fascinating read which I loved I can so clearly picture St Felix and the island of Aurora

Another truly fabulous book by Ali McNamara - a very welcome addition to my Ali bookshelf! Humour, love, and cornwall - what more could you want?!

A fantastic story set again in St Felix. You got a real understanding of ME. Some great characters.. You learnt a lot about weather and you fell in love with the characters..Smuggling in Cornwall always feels magical along with Cornish pasties.. A lesson in learning to trust people and not trying to do it all yourself. Brilliant

I always enjoy this author’s books and this latest one is no exception.
Sky, a meteorologist, is travelling to St. Felix on the Cornish coast to check out unusual weather patterns. Unbeknown to her, she is about to be lumbered with smarmy tv weatherman Sonny Samuels. But it appears that there is more to Sonny than meets the eye. Can Sky put her prejudices against Sonny to the side as they try to discover just what is happening with the weather in St. Felix.
A magical story with great characters which was a delight to read.

Oh my goodness. I want to give this so many more than 5 stars! I couldn’t put it down and didn’t want it to end. I’m always excited to read Ali’s books and go back to St Felix. I love the magical mystery of St Felix and each book draws me in so that I just can’t stop reading. I never find the plots predictable and I just adore how characters from precious books are brought into each new story. I found it really special how Sky had ME which is quite clearly written through Ali’s own experience of the illness. I wish I could start it all over again and read it for the first time again!

This was my first book by this author and certainly won’t be my last this book was perfect escapism and loved the storyline and the Cornish setting. This book was so much more than just a romantic
Read as the author highlighted the importance of chronic illness in particular ME and as someone who suffers from
A chronic hidden illness it was nice to see it brought to light in a book in a positive and educational way and highlighting the issues those with a chronic illness face on a daily basis.
Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down and would love a sequel to explore
Where the characters lives are taken next.

Cornish Clouds and Silver Lining Skies is the latest magical read from Ali McNamara. Just like her other stories she draws on interesting subjects and mixes them up with myths and legends.
In this book, a trio of weather experts head down to the tidal island of Aurora, just off St Felix on the Cornish coast to investigate some bizarre weather readings. Of course, the team find far more than they bargain for.
Ali McNamara also brings an awareness of chronic illnesses in this book by sharing her own experiences of ME via the character of Sky. I could identify with much of this with my own life dealing with chronic coccydynia, and totally agree with the message of acceptance, pacing, and not comparing yourself with “normal” people. I hope that other readers will learn how chronic illnesses and disabilities can affect the sufferer both mentally and physically.
All in all, a nice little summer read that’s easy to get lost in.

Can not resist an Ali McNamara book, magical story, great characters, brilliantly written what's not to love.

I am so honored and privileged to have the opportunity to read/review this book. Full review to come here and on my blog. I love how it ties in the meteorology theme and I’m so excited to reads about Skys journey especially her relationship with Walter. A charming summer read.
Meteorologist Sky Matthews does not like surprises.
Sky monitors her life like she does the weather, carefully and with a scientific eye. So, when she misses out on her dream job abroad and finds herself with no choice but to take a position on a tidal island off the Cornish harbour town of St Felix instead, she feels completely at sea. Worse still, she has to work alongside TV weatherman Sonny Samuels, who barely knows his storms from his tsunamis.
It doesn't take long for Sky to become enchanted by the strange weather patterns over St Felix. Sonny is convinced they link to local folklore, but Sky knows her science too well to fall for that. Until she meets Walter, a local weather watcher with no qualifications beyond a lifetime of experience and Sky is forced to question everything she thought she knew about the weather, herself... and Sonny.

Oh, how lovely it is to be back in St Felix again. I love this setting so much, and the little bits of magic that happen there. Each time it’s a little different, but it’s always wonderful!
This story focuses on Sky, a meteorologist who is sent there to study the peculiar weather patterns that sometimes occur. I loved the island of Aurora, what a wonderful (though slightly inconvenient) place to live!
It was great to see a main character who has my disability. It almost never comes up in happy, fictional books, and I’ve never read one where the main character had it before. I felt like it was a good and realistic portrayal of someone who has ME moderate/mildly (like many illnesses it varies a lot) and is not really comfortable with it, and trying to hide it from those around them.
I also loved that Sky is a meteorologist, weather physics was one of my favourite modules at university. It was so much fun to read a book that’s centred around a favourite topic.
I thought Jamie was a great character too, though I guessed he had dyslexia from pretty early on. The two main characters both hiding a disability in this way made a wonderful symmetry. I very much enjoyed their love story, and the way they struggled to find a balance between Jamie supporting Sky, but not taking decisions out of her hands. It’s a difficult balance to find, but I feel like there’s definitely hope that their relationship might last.
Other than the romance(s), this is rather an exciting plot, there’s even a secret tunnel! I can’t really say more without spoilers, but it was a lot of fun.
Overall, this was another brilliant, romantic, and magical story from a favourite author. I loved it.
TW: Chronic illness (ME).
I was given a free copy of this book, my opinions are my own.
