Nightwork by Nora Roberts
I give this book 4 stars

Harry lives a quiet, careful, rootless life - he can't afford to attract attention or get attached - until he meets Miranda. But just when Harry thinks he has a chance at happiness his old life comes back to haunt him. No matter what name he uses or where he goes, Harry cannot escape. If he is ever going to feel safe Harry must face down his enemy once and for all.

Journey along through life with Harry Booth a thief with a code and morals.lt took me a while to get into this one but lm glad l persevered.A well written story involving crime, your past catching up with you, love and family.Throw in a few heists,New Orleans, food, mystery and suspense and what’s not to enjoy! .The authors attention to detail and well crafted characters make this story so readable and l particularly loved the parts with Harry’s Aunt Mags.
With thanks to Netgalley, Nora Roberts and Little, Brown Book Group UK, Piatkus for my chance to read and review this book

Harry from the age of 9 tries to look after his mum, who is fighting cancer while still trying to run her cleaning company with her sister Mags, but the bills start to pile up, Harry has been taught to pick pockets, but needs more to save the house and not have them both in dept, so he becomes a thief and he's very good at it. So Harry continues his Nightwork to pay the bills after his mum finds out she has cancer again.

The story follows Harry and how well he does his nightwork after his mum dies. Harry decides to travel across the USA and try his hand at many things but when his Aunt Mags is threatened Harry realises he can't settle in one place and can never have a true relationship, but history catches up with him and he can't do anything about it!

Great story completely different to any other Nora Roberts I have read before, would recommend!

I loved Nightwork, the story of Harry and his life was brilliantly told and I was instantly drawn in, the characters are well written and you can’t help but love them , even the villain is deviously described and I even found myself yelling at the story more than once lol. I can’t say any more with out giving away the story away but definitely give it a read.

Another great book by Nora Roberts. I look forward every year to her standalone thrillers and I loved this one just as much as her others.

Even though this book is about a guy, Harry, who is a career thief I really liked him! He started off his 'career' through necessity (he was young, his mother had cancer and couldn't work) to keep food on the table and a roof over their heads, he was good at it, and continued throughout his adult life. He wasn't nasty about it, he didn't hurt anyone and he only took certain items from very rich people. But it was a lonely life as he had to be careful who he trusted.

But he unfortunately got caught up with a nasty man who didn't care who was hurt as long as he got what he wanted, and he wanted Harry as he was the best and could get him what he wanted. Harry evaded him for a while but he caught up with him eventually, and things came to a head.

I really enjoyed the whole feel of this book, quite laid back, yet with that slight thriller vibe running throughout it. I especially loved Harry's aunt, and the lost love that reappears in his life, Miranda, but all the characters were very believable.

This book just draws you in from the very first page and doesn't stop throughout the book, just a real page-turner for me.

Love all her books but why is this so similar to Honest Illusions? I felt like I was re-reading it again.

But, it's Nora, and her books are always worth a read!

Nora Roberts is my favourite author so i was extremely excited to read this early edition, thank you netgallery for the chance and i loved it. The story captured the imagination from the beginning it told of the journey of a young guy doing what he needed to do to keep the roof over his head and the story of his love for one person and how he lost and then found that person. Loved it

Harry Booth gets a tough introduction to life when at 9 his mother is diagnosed with cancer. As the bills pile up and she gets sicker he discover he has a talent for thieving. This sensible young man has a code though and follows it to a fault. He excels in his craft and as time moves forward someone dangerous takes notice and changes his life forever setting him on a path that takes away one more person he loves. To protect them he disappears but vows to himself that one day he will make him pay. Its an incredible tale that hooked me and i could not put it down. A remarkable young man with so many talents, the people that love him are unique and just as remarkable and the woman that finally claims his heart makes it all worth it. I could not recommend this story enough!

I can never resist a Nora Roberts novel and this one is no different, which is a good and a bad thing. I love them for the familiar comfort of a dramatic life unfolding that I know will turn out good in the end. That does, however, mean that they are all quite samey. This one felt very similar to Honest Illusions, one of her earlier books. I also felt that the ending was quite rushed which was a shame. I'll still read all her books though.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for many years, i love her writing and character description, getting drawn into the characters and their lives.
I very much enjoyed this story as it was mostly about Harry and his life, his relationships with his family and how he got into the business he was in.
It is a love story, but this one is more a life story.
So sit back and enjoy.

If not read Nora Roberts this is a stand alone book and good read to try.

I read an arc from Netgallery.
