Emily writes a wedding column for the local newspaper and is looking forward to writing about her own wedding when they eventually set a date.
When her old school friend, Calvin returns to the village after losing his wife, some of her old feelings start to surface again. She manages to keep them at bay until his son, Isaac asks her to secretly help him find his dad a new girlfriend.

The paper gets wind of this secret mission and decides that Emily should make a feature article for the next edition so Calvin learns of the quest for finding love. He is reluctant to start with but agrees to try just for the sake of his son.

A romantic story of loss, unrequited love and finding new love.

I love the relationship between Calvin and Isaac, its so sweet despite going through what they have together.

There is definitely a feeling of something being off with Tim. Emily is too lovely to be stuck in a relationship but can she see it soon enough.

I love the drama in this book. There a constant will they, won't they throughout the book and I was looking forward to find out the outcome on all the scenarios.

The characters are well written, there are some you dislike and some that are totally loveable and you want the best outcome for them.

I absolutely adore the relationship between Em and her mum and dad, especially her dad.

This was such a nice idea for a story. Emily and Cal were once best friends but drifted apart when they went to university. Cal got married but in this story, his wife has died and his son worries that he's lonely. He gets the idea to make a YouTube video to help his Dad find love again.

I really loved the chemistry between Emily and Calvin but I wanted more of it. The ending felt a little bit rushed for me and it all happened a bit too quickly. I think I needed Emily and Cal to be thrown into a few more situations where we could feel the tension between them.

However, I did really enjoy them finding each other again and for them both to obviously struggle with their feelings. There's a great history between the two and I really enjoyed discovering this bit.

One thing I don't really get is the title of the book. I think it could have had a much better title and something better fitting for the story.

I really enjoyed this feel-good romance which I’d saved to read between a few heavier books with darker subjects. It acted like a light, refreshing and delicious sorbet between courses. I loved the cozy little town of Hebblestone and Emily who’s an expert in weddings, but never seems to find love. Working on the wedding column on her local paper is lovely, because you’re sharing in other people’s happiness but how lonely must it feel to go home to an empty house afterwards. When old friend Calvin returns to the village she looks forward to catching up, but he and his son Isaac have gone through a lot. Just two years ago, Calvin’s wife died. He’s now looking forward to both of them being able to heal, with nothing more planned than a quiet life. Isaac has other ideas. He’s seen how lonely his Dad is and knowing he’ll never take the step himself, Isaac decides he’s going to find him that special someone. Using his blog, Isaac uploads a video about his Dad and convinces Emily to give him some publicity. As the video goes viral, Calvin is inundated with replies to sift through, but what if the letters aren’t the answer? Could there be a soulmate much closer to home? Although predictable, this book was pure escapism. I loved the Yorkshire setting and the romance. It was an easy afternoon read and a really uplifting story.

Emily writes about local weddings whilst waiting for her own to be booked!
When she covers a little boys plea to find his dad a partner her life takes a turn.

I loved this story of fated lovers for whom the time had never been right..........of things not said, chances missed but love enduring. The characters were well written and relatable - this was a real feel good read that left me with a warm, fuzzy feeling!

I loved this book, really loved it. I enjoyed all the main characters, especially Isaac, and I like the summarize epilogue. I enjoyed the throwback to Emily’s youth and the relationship she has with her family. In fact the only thing I didn’t like was the title as it didn’t seem to link to the story. Made absolutely no difference to my enjoyment the actual novel though.
A great Summer read , feel good and sentimental with a romantic end

A great easy read, with a few amusing diversions. It tells the story of a widower leaving London with his son in the hope of achieving peace, but then wondering if it was the right thing until his son takes things into his own hands to find a girlfriends for him. This leads to the weddings columnist from the local newspaper running with the story and achieving an amazing response with many unintended consequences. The end may be predictable but it is a an easy read and great escapism.

What can I say about this book except joy, joy and more joy!

People can get a bit weird about reading romance books and I have to admit I used to be one of them. I think it was because in the 80’s it all seemed a bit twee and heaving bosoms, plus I wasn’t a grown up, I hadn’t experienced life and the knocks it brings. Now, I just love a contemporary romance. Yes, there is love but it is woven into a great story, often with difficult themes, but mixed with warmth and laughter, it’s a recipe for a great read!

This book has to be one of my favourites, I just guzzled this one down in a day! The setting in Yorkshire is fabulous, I could really picture it, the characters are wonderfully heartwarming, there are so many laugh out loud moments and I spent a large proportion of my reading time with a huge smile on my face! There are nods to Notting Hill (one of my fave romcoms), all the recipe elements are there to make a wonderfully tasty read!

I struggled with this book, why this title ? The spacing between words and dialogue made it difficult to read, I liked the storyline second chance idea but found myself speed reading in places, it’s an okay read.

This is quite a confusing title as it seems to have little relevance to the story. This is really a story about Emily, an aspiring journalist, who has been waiting for a promotion for some time and Cal, who, having been recently bereaved decides to return to his home town of Hebblestone in Yorkshire, where Emily still lives. Emily works for the local paper covering weddings and other such events. She is engaged to Tim but in a relationship that is going nowhere. Emily and Cal were childhood sweethearts who lost touch because of a misunderstanding. Cal now has a son Isaac who is central to the plot of this story as he really wants his dad to find someone new. Isaac decides to create a video to attract someone to meet his dad. The video quickly goes viral and Emily, in her role as reporter for the local paper is asked to get involved. The complication is that Isaac having met Emily has already enlisted her help with promoting the video The result is inevitable and so this is a very enjoyable, if somewhat predictable book. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me an ARC of this book.

👫BFF reunion brings complications: good, sweet romance🤗

This novel had a good plot and some great, lovable characters, especially widower Calvin and his son Isaac. Emily, Calvin's best friend from childhood, is dissatisfied with her life but it's not until Calvin and Isaac return to their small Yorkshire hometown from London that she starts focusing on what needs to change.

While I liked their story and Isaac's matchmaking attempts, the story felt long and repetitive at times, especially the parts focusing on Emily's issues with Tim.

Thanks to HQ Digital and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

THE FOREVER HOUSE by RACHEL DOVE.

This book is a story of second chance love, with a modern twist.

Emily still lives in her hometown of Hebblestone. Her job and relationship are going nowhere fast.
Then one day, she bumps in to Calvin, her childhood friend and secret love.
Calvin is now a widower with a teenage son and they have just moved back to the area.
Isaac, Calvin’s son, realises his dad is lonely and sets out on a mission to help.

This book is a charming and gentle read.
It’s maybe a little predictable, but who cares? It was an utterly gorgeous journey with these likeable character in a delightful setting.
What a pleasant way to spend a few hours of your life.

I absolutely adored this book. I’m so ashamed that it took me this long to pick up onr of her books.

The story itself is just gorgeous. It’s about old flames, new beginnings, family relationships and all of these traditional themes are explored through a really modern twist: the use of modern media to try and help someone find love.

I loved the setting and thought it was absolutely gorgeous, giving the book an escapist feel but also providing that strong, community warmth and connection we all associate with the best of British.

I loved the character of Isaac. I felt like Rachel was able to get quite cleverly into the mind and motivations of a modern teenage boy, and I liked that he had such an important role. Teens often get a bad rep everywhere, so it was great to see them portrayed in a way that boasts positivity and selflessness.

Overall, a heart-warming and comforting read about love, loyalty and what it means to build, and maintain, a forever home. Perfect for fans of Heidi Swain, Cressida McLaughlin and Jessica Redland.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC, this review is my personal unbiased opinion.

A suitable read for a lazy afternoon.

Still living in her home town of Hebblestone, Emily Hendrickson had dreamt of becoming a writer. Instead, she's working for the local newspaper covering weddings and committee meetings, vainly hoping for promotion into the features department. Unexpectedly she comes face to face with her childhood friend and secret love Calvin Albright who's now widowed and, with his son Isaac, has recently returned to Hebblestone. Realising that his father is unhappy and lonely, Isaac intends to find him a suitable girlfriend and creates a video for his blog, even persuading Emily for help in his scheme.

When the newspaper hears about Isaac’s video the editor gives Emily the story. Much against her will Emily now has to promote the video about Isaac’s search for a date for his father.

Losing points. The title, The Forever House, and the country cottage on the cover had absolutely no connection with the content of the book. and twelve year old Isaac's language was at times scarily weird and far above his actual age group.

Light-hearted, a bit predictable, a quick and easy read.

The Forever House is actually nothing to do with a house, which was a bit confusing, but it is a gentle, easy read about two childhood best friends who reunite back in their former hometown in Yorkshire.

It is the ideal rainy day or by-the-pool holiday read, predictable but enjoyable nonetheless, with plenty of humour and the requisite happy ending.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy in return for an honest review.
