I have loved Alex Brown's books for years. Formerly written as Alexandra Brown her Carrington's series on a department store in a small town was one of my favourites I read as a young adult. I really enjoyed a trip to Capri in her latest novel. I loved the elements of Hollywood and historical fiction from this story. Ive since realised it will be part of a series and I very much look forward to reading the books next in line.

This is book three in the series. The story was told over a dual timeline. I preferred the sections that were in the present. There are a great cast of characters and the setting was described beautifully

This book is the perfect holiday read at an time of the year. If you need some warm sunshine, glamour and mystery then this book will tick all those boxes.

It is 1953 and a young girl from a small English village finds herself in Capri. The glamour of stardom and Hollywood has come with her to Capri. But not everything is as it seems and what is meant to be a break and chance to recharge, it turns into something else. Alex Brown transports you to an island where the warmth of the sun, blue skies and seas, the smell of the lemons growing, the taste of the food all come alive from the page.

Back in that English village, in the present day is Maddie. Rather lost at the moment after losing her job and her relationship. With the strong desire to do something for herself and pursue her own dreams, Maddie discovers photos of a glamourous woman and a postcard from Capri in her grandmothers belongings. Sadly her grandmother memory is failing and it seems that Maddie is the one to piece all the clues together.

By taking a trip to Capri.

With any dual timeline, there are cross overs and links between the past and the present, but there is also the future which is starting to pan out for Maddie when she meets Gio. Will she be captured by the island of Capri as well?

A lovely tale of friendships, secrets and sunshine. Will cheer even the greyest of days.

I loved this book so much.

From the descriptions of Capri, to finding out the big secret, to the depth of writing that at points had me on the verge of tears, this was brilliant.

It follows back in the 1950s the story of Kelly Sinclair in the summer before she is likely to become a Hollywood star, having a summer in Capri, and living it up with her secret leading actor boyfriend.

And Maddie who in the present day, has been asked by her gran, who is starting to have memory issues, to see if she can find Audrey The only snag is no one in the family has ever heard of Audrey but the only lead she has to go on is Capri.

I loved both stories equally, and especially loved being transported to sunny Capri, which is as beautiful and captivating as I remember it to be.

But there is more to it than just the search, and Maddie really does grow and develop while she is in Capri, and so do the bonds she has with the rest of her family.

It's an enchanting story that I couldn't get enough of.

Thank you to HarperCollins and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This was a truly intriguing love story. I was guessing all the time and predicitng what has happened and I've never been right! Alex Brown has truly took me on a great journey, full of surprises and twists and many thanks for that!

It is another book in the Postcard series, although each pne can be read as a stand - alone. The only thing they have in common is the little town of Tindledale and characters discovering a postcard, which is a beginning of a brilliant and interesting journey to discovery. This time we are taken to Capri and to the Golden Age of Hollywood. The dualtime storyline works really well, taking us to the past in the 1950s and back to the present.

It was a gorgeous, vivid and evocative love story, rich in descriptions (sometimes too much of those for me, to be honest), a story about self - discovery, about heart - break and uncoditional love. I think I'd love more sections about the past and Kelly's life then. Nevertheless, there was a great cast of characters, intriguing storyline, it was not predictable, so what's more to wish?

Such an evocative read, beautiful sights and smells within the narrative to draw you into the story. Lovely read with heartwarming and romantic moments. The dual timeline story telling was easy to follow and the individual tales entwined and wove into each other beautifully. Definitely recommended to post yourself in for a few hours.

Thank you Netgalley

I absolutely love these stand alone set of books, which tell two stories at the same time - one from years ago, and the present day
This was no exception, it had Mr gripped from the very beginning with tales of film stars from years gone by, loss and finding happiness again.
A captivating read from start to finish, I couldn't put it down.

This book vividly evokes the sights, scents and style of Capri through its rich descriptions. It really took me back to my own time on the island. The dual time line style of writing allows use to get to gradually know Rose / Kelly and her granddaughter. There is a common theme between them, of trying to find balance and be true to themselves, after having perhaps gone a little off course. The mystery of who Audrey is and what happened to Rose / Kelly back in the 50’s is absolutely gripping and I found myself quickly caught up in the story. A really wonderful Summer read!

A lovely dual timeline family drama set mainly in Capri. The author brings the island setting to vibrant life with sensory imagery and lyrical writing. The plot is simple, but the characters endear themselves and immerse the reader in their lives. You want to know what happens, and the ending is poignant and optimistic.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher.

This is a typical but tantalising beach read- especially if you love Italy or are visiting it soon!
The double timeline now so evident in many novels took a little time to evolve and was obviously too easy in plot terms - ie lucky breaks, no money worries and unearthing old letters/here a postcard which links to the past.
But the premise of a past glamorous Hollywood actress in your family and possibly a love and a baby kept the suspense going.
Scenes in Capri were beautifully evoked as were the cut and thrust of the movie world of the 1950s - where the outside glamour often covered a lot of heartache - especially for female stars.

I've been to Capri so it was interesting and glorious to remind myself of its stunning scenery. A big beach read success if you like that sort of a read.

Having read and enjoyed a few of Alex's books, including her first two 'Postcard from' series, I hoped this would be as good. It is even better. Wonderful setting, great characters and an excellent story line.

Third in the series and the best yet! A thumping good read, feels like living history so well researched, beautifully written and packed with interesting detail, fascinating… I found it difficult to put the book down. Instantly and completely immersed me in a beautiful romance, heartbreak and the passion. A gem of a novel, intimate yet sweeping, modern yet timeless. Bits of this book lingered in my head the way ghosts of Tetris pieces continue to fall in your mind's eye after playing.

A perfect holiday read. A story of discovery triggered by the words of a grandma. Beautiful descriptions of Capri evoke the warmth and smells of summer. A gentle romance accompanies the mystery, so you have a perfect combination.

I loved this book and the story of how Rose just a normal girl from Yorkshire got to live her dream of becoming an actress in the fifties, when the only contact from home was a letter or a telegram. After changing her name to Kelly Sinclair, living in LA then on to Capri, mixing with the elite and finding love with her dashing dark haired co star. Kelly is happily in love and has made a new very much needed friend. However after receiving some devastating news about her sister, Kelly needs to return home but her manager has other ideas. Kelly then has her heart broken and cannot continue to act so returns home. Now in her eighties and getting frail and prone to falls she has moved into an assisted living home leaving her granddaughter Maggie to stay in her old home. One day when Maggie visits, Rose becomes distressed and asks her to find Audrey?? Who is she?? As no one has ever heard that name before??
At home Maggie remembers a case where her grandmother kept her papers, photos, etc. Finding letters from her friend in Capri she feels she needs to visit but money is tight as she is between jobs. Then she is offered a job which happens to be in Italy so gives her the opportunity to visit Capri for a week. Little does she realise how much information she will find, what hidden secrets she will unfold and will her grandmother live long enough to find “Audrey’ .
