This was gripping from the beginning. There is a lot of mystery and tension in this book. This book has many twists. The ending was open which irritates me.

I must firstly apologise for the amount of time it has taken me to provide me review of this book, my health was rather bad for quite some time, something that had me in hospital on numerous occasions and simply didnt leave me with the time I once had to do what I love most.

Unfortunately that does mean I have missed the archive date for many of these books, so It would feel unjust throwing any review together without being able to pay attention to each novel properly.

However, I am now back to reading as before and look forward to sharing my honest reviews as always going forward. I thank you f0r the patience and understanding throughout x

"The Lies I Tell" is about two women out for revenge ... or is it justice?

Meg is a con artist who takes on a different name and occupation in each city. But she does have a "Girl Code" that she only targets men who have taken something from women, something that they did not deserve to have!!

Kat Roberts is a journalist who has been hunting Meg for ten years, she has her in her sights and she will not let her escape this time. Meg's life has been upended and Kat is determined to expose her.

Has Meg met her match in Kat?

I loved the cat and mouse game, the saying "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" certainly applies with this story!!!

A must read that definitely merits 5 stars!!

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for an honest review.

There is something in Julie Clark's novels that drows my attention and holds it until the very last page. Flew through the book so fast! Look forward to reading the next novel by the author

I would like to thank the NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the e-copy.

This was an entertaining read, but I'll be honest, the jumping around between POV's are a little confusing at times. It was however gripping, and I will read more in future.

I really enjoyed this book. I went in not knowing what to expect with the con woman story as it’s not something I’ve read much before. I enjoyed the way Kats hatred for Meg changed to intrigue and infatuation and seeing how that played out.

I loved Megs character. Was hooked from the start. Fast paced read (read in 2 sittings). A great book following The Flight which I also loved. Julie clark is definitely an auto buy author for me.

Wowsers! What a book!

Meg might be a con artist, a grifter but her intentions are different to the average one, and her cons are so well thought out. I absolutely loved how clever she was, how she was always many steps ahead of everyone, including the reader, and we had chapters written from her perspective.

I loved her backstory, and the details of some of her early cons and the reason she is back in town is just understandable.

We also have chapters from Kat, a journalist who for years has been trying to uncover the truth about Meg and all of her aliases. And when she finally thinks she can get close to Meg she is determined to make the most of the opportunity.

I was hooked from the first few pages until the end, just slightly regretful that I hadn't been in a position to read it in one sitting, but I was trying to grab any moment to read just a bit more. I just wasn't sure what Meg's end game was, and I had no clue how to guess how Kat's story would play out.

I am though delighted with both of the conclusions and I really enjoyed Meg's self awareness of what she was doing, and all the tips she gave us on how to pull off a good con. It's fascinating and brilliant and I just loved it.

Thank you to Hodder & Stoughton and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily

I was keen to read this having really enjoyed "The Flight" and it didn't disappoint.
It was an enjoyable, quick read that I couldn't put down.
I enjoyed the alternating chapters written by Kat & Meg and found although my feelings changed throughout the story, I was rooting for Meg throughout.
My thanks to Netgalley and the Publisher for my eARC in return for my honest review.

An interesting and fast paced story of a female con artist. Written from the perspective of Meg, a grifter, seeking revenge on the man who cheated her out of her childhood home and Kat, a writer planning to expose Meg for her misdeeds. A great read.

Loved this; I didn't want it to end! Loved the main characters, both Kat and Meg were brilliant and the way the story ended too was absolutely perfect, I guess the only thing I didn't LOVE is the title/cover; it doesn't seem like a perfect fit, sounds and looks very 'samey' (I mean, seriously, how many books with the word 'lie' have been published in the last 2 years alone!?. I think it could have been a lot better; more memorable? Other than that though, a solid 5/5 for a really entertaining read.

A clever cat-and-mouse thriller. Investigative reporter Kat is on the trail of con artist Meg, who travels the country perfecting her craft. A cracking thrill-ride.

This was a fast paced story of revenge but I'm not sure that I would necessarily call it a thriller, as it is technically described and marketed as.
I was a big fan of the dual timelines and how layered the story and characters felt.
I also ready it quickly, feeling that urge to keep reading to see how everything would turn out.
It was also nice that your feelings about the two women changed as it went on and you found out more.
I will definitely be keeping an eye out for what Julie Clark does next and going back and reading her first book when I get a chance.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Mind blowingly twisty with intriguing and compelling characters The Lies I Tell is a brilliant book to get your teeth into!
I'm still yet to read The Flight which is Julie's debut novel but after finishing this I'm pushing it up my TBR.
I thought this was a very clever and mysterious thriller and I was hooked right from the start.
The formatting on my kindle did make things a litle bit confusing but after the first few chapters I got everything straight in my head.
Meg is one of those unusual characters who you should really dislike but actually by the end you are saying Go Meg to yourself. I loved her collaboration with Kat who I was rooting for all the way.
This was brilliantly written and I flew through it in a couple of sittings,
Defenitely recommend.

I got as far as 14% with this but then realised I didn't really have a clue what was going on, or really care. Sorry, this one is not for me and is going in the dnf pile for now. I may come back to it at a later date though, as I really like the premise and it does have lots of 5 star reviews.

A riveting read which had me hooked into both Meg and Kat's stories. A page turner. Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for letting me review this book.

The Lies I Tell is brilliant. And so clever. Meg has many aliases, but she has returned to LA using her real name to right a wrong in the most epic way. She's an expert in patience. In waiting, and watching her marks. But in LA, she is also the watched.

As we learn more of Meg's back story, we are soon rooting for her. She is simply putting right the many wrongs she's become aware of. And as journalist Kat becomes more involved, she too begins to change her mind.

Deliciously twisted, and deeply satisfying, I really really loved Meg's character and the whole story just worked for me.
