Overall a good read. There was bits I really loved but it was a bit slow at times and nothing much seemed to happen at times.

Steve is planning a surprise wedding and proposal for Kate and enlists her best friends Maddie and Sophie and his brother Josh to help.

I loved the relationship and genuine chemistry between Josh and Sophie. I also really liked the multiple perspectives.

I felt some bits didn’t get enough time or conflicts were resolved too easily and there were parts that couldve done with more depth.

Overall it was a nice story finished in sunny Spain.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

Steve is planning to propose to Kate whilst they are in Spain on holiday in June, which isn’t that far off, not only propose, he’s planning to get married too. But, he and her friends are in the UK., meaning everything will have to be planned from there.

They need to know what Kate’s dream wedding would be, without giving anything away.

So Sophie, tells Kate that she and boyfriend Glenn are engaged, in order to find out details from Kate. But her boyfriend isn’t happy about this and her other friend Maddie, doesn’t think it’s going to work, that Kate won’t be happy that they’ve done this, Steve’s brother Josh thinks the same.

Will they be able to plan everything without Kate finding out? Does Kate want to get married?

I loved the book, perfect for beach reading.

I recommend this book.

Time to buy a hat!
However, bride-to-be Kate doesn't know she's getting married. Her boyfriend, Steve, plans to surprise her with a proposal during their summer holiday in Spain. But he's leaving it there - she always tells him he is never spontaneous, so he's decided to plan a wedding too.
Eek!
Surely he can't do it alone? Of course not. He ropes in his brother and Kate's two best friends (who end up doing the bulk of the organising really) and swears them to secrecy. Trouble is, he wants Kate to have the wedding of her dreams so her input is vital. They simply need a creative way of planning Kate's wedding with Kate but without her realising it. Simples! Or not.
Cue Sophie (best friend 1) pretendig she'd going to be getting married and so wants Kate and Maddie (best friend 2) to be her bridesmaids. Sophie asks Kate for her opinion on dresses, cakes, colour schemes and in so doing she gets a clear picture of what Kate would like by telling her she really doesn't want her 'dream' dress but would prefer something more elegant, something Kate would choose. It's a plan with lots of potential to go wrong, and that doesn't even take into consideration what Sophie's boyfriend, Glenn, thinks of the whole thing.
Still Sophie thinks what Steve is doing is romantic, even though his brother Josh and Maddie have a feeling Kate is going to be furious that Steve has done all this without her involvement let alone her agreement to marry him.

It's the perfect scenario for a disaster and there are further calamities that threaten to scupper the holiday-engagement-wedding, all of which make for a fun read, with a fabulous Spanish setting and the will-they/won't they tension right up until the end.

Wedding aside, there are some wonderful subplots surrounding Sophie's future with Glenn and her job, Maddie reuniting with her Spanish family, and a realisation for Josh that a past love was never meant to be.
The writing is fun, breezy, realistic though a tad repetitive on the "going grey with all this planning" imagery. Nonetheless, a great summer read.

Two friends are roped in to arrange a surprise wedding for their friend assisted by the very attractive best man. Of course things don’t exactly go to plan and there are a few twists and turns before we discover if the happy couple make it down the aisle. A perfect feel good summer read.

So the question is - "Is a surprise wedding, organised by your boyfriend and best friends before you have even been proposed to, romantic or not?" - or perhaps the better question is, will it all end in disaster?

Add in the fact that Steve is wanting this wedding and proposal to happen to Kate while they are on holiday in June, only a few months away, in Spain, and they are all based in the UK, makes it even trickier.

Add in the subterfuge of trying to get to know all of Kate's dream wedding details without her realising, And you have the recipe for what is a very entertaining book.

Then there is Sophie pretending to Kate that she is engaged to her boyfriend Glenn, in order to try to gain some of these key details, but Glenn being rather spooked by it, and Maddie who is anti marriage and doesn't think this is anything other than a recipe for disaster. A view shared by Josh the best man.

It's an absolutely fabulously summery read, perfect beach reading, as you see just whether or not they can pull off the whole wedding, whether anyone will let anything slip, and whether or not Kate even wants to get married! It is so amusing and enjoyable, that I loved every second of it!

Thank you to Headline Accent and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

An easy read. One for reading whilst relaxing by the pool on holiday (or stuck at the airport, which is where I read most of it).

Thanks for the advance copy i really enjoyed this book. The book started with the run up to a surprise wedding , included the wedding, a spanish holiday and a new romance. It was easy to read and follow the story but interesting enough to keep you entertained. It is the first book by this author i have read but wont be the last.

A gorgeous, sun-soaked romance set in Southern Spain. Sheer escapism, beautifully written, I will look for more of this author’s work.
My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance copy of this title. I highly recommend it.

I received an ARC of The Spanish Wedding Disaster, by Karen King. I could not get into this book. I did not like all the secrecy. I did not care about the characters at all.

Loved it! Such a fab, original premise. I couldn't wait to find out if Kate was going to enjoy her secret wedding. I literally couldn't read the story fast enough!

Sophie is a particularly likeable character and I was certainly pulling for her to stop settling for and OK relationship and properly fall in love. Maddie made a great quirky character (will we get her story in another book?) and I thought Steve got away with A LOT in soliciting the help of others to bring the secret wedding off.

A must for fans of commercial romantic fiction who enjoy a varied cast of characters and an unusual premise.

Sophie and Maddie are best friends to Kate. Sophie is a romantic and Maddie will just isn't. when they are called to help Kate's partner plan the ultimate surprise wedding, Sophie and Maddie are thrown into the world of organising venues, planning the ceremony, flowers, food, attendants, music ect ect. But as they all get set off to Spain for Kate's surprise wedding, had anyone even thought if Kate even really wants to get married?

Another wonderfully feel good romantic book written by best selling author Karen king. Loved it.

This book just wasn’t for me. The premise sounded really interesting and fun but the story had too much going on. The chapters are very short and the pov changes with each chapter. That made it hard for me to connect to any of the characters. All of them felt one dimensional and not at all developed beyond their one particular trait. The writing didn’t work for me either, the tone changed way too often. The plot felt jumbled and ironically, a disaster.
All that being said, I do think that this was a case of its not you, its me. I hope this can find the right audience, I’m sad to say it wasn’t me.

I had some doubts when I first started this book but I'm pleased to admit that by the end I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The idea of planning a secret proposal and wedding for my best friend fills me with instant dread. I think the actual arranging of the wedding was far more realistic than I had been expecting. I appreciate the attention to detail the author clearly paid.

The detail through was immaculate and I'm extremely jealous that I wasn't a guest at this wedding!

It's a sweet, funny, light-hearted romance. The drama wasn't very dramatic, no problem was too big to solve. A happy gentle read.
