I hadn't heard of Amanda Prowse before I read this book, her memoir, but now know she is a bestselling an prolific author. I am in the minority among so many wonderful reviews but I didn't get as captivated by this book as others did - maybe it wasn't the right time for me. The author certainly shared many painful experiences that made her the person she is today and I always appreciate such honesty in memoirs. I may revisit this one again in the future to see if it resonates more then.

Hard to put down. Amanda Prowse captivates us with everything she writes. It is like we are sat in the corner of each scene just experiencing it as the story unfolds. Even more so with her own story

I love memoirs and this was no different! I tend to prefer audiobooks for memoirs (and may even get this on audible at some point) but regardless this was a great read, and I’m definitely reading Amanda’s fiction books in the future!

This memoir resonated deeply with me. The honesty and openness within its pages were truly refreshing. Among the best memoirs I've come across recently, this one stands out. Reading it felt akin to an extended weekend getaway with friends, a chance to intimately understand Prowse. I found inspiration in its pages and would definitely rate it a 4-star must-read.

I went into this blind and didn’t realize Amanda Prowse is a fiction novelist herself. This is her memoir and there were moments when I thought that’s totally relatable to me, both happy and sad.
Overall though, I found myself disconnected from her story and I would have loved more info into her writing process.

I’m very picky with my memoirs .. glad I requested this . Never read anything anything by the author previously but now I will be keeping a eye out. Beautifully written and covered important topics

4/5

Thanks for the ARC

I feel priveledged at having read this book. I am very familiar of Prowse's other works but I think that this one is the best. It is extra meaningful as it was the author opening herself up, inviting us in to her own personal life. I feel that she was honest throughout and some of her issues were similar to mine. This was a fantastic book and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Amanda Prowse is one of my favourite authors. She writes about subjects that are not often written about with such honesty and freshness and they are a joy to read whatever the subject matter
Amanda's own story has taken it to another level. Her honesty in this book was breathtaking and inspiring and for anyone who has felt conscious about their appearance, their path in life or any other area in your life that you are not happy with then please read the words of this very wise woman
Amanda is one of us. Her life has had many challenges that she has faced head-on and she has shared her remarkable story to help others
This book needs to be on everyone's reading list

Interesting memoir written by an author we all knw and love. Her honesty was compelling and her story was very good. Many thanks to publisher and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

I have never read a book from Amanda Prowse but was interested in Women Like Us. This a true look at Amanda's life from birth to menopause. She drew me in and had me examining my life and believing that changes can be made gently. I had to google Amanda to see pictures of her as I feel like she shared so much that I want to see what she looks like. I will have to pick up Poppy Day and start reading..

This book is like a treat I never asked for. The beginning of the book resonates so much with me. Being bullied as a child for being overweight and called baby elephant by schoolmates led to my struggles with my appearance most of my life. It felt like I had a friend who was telling me her story and it felt good to share the pain. Thank you Amanda for this gem and for being unapologetically you

Oh what a phenominal book!
There is so much in Mandys life that I can relate to. The unhealthy issue with food, the emotional eating, the importance of family, the loss of children and the moving around and being a military wife. Her story is moving, yet inspiring and I am so honoured to have read and be able to learn more about her journey. This isn't your steroptypical autobiography, its a glimps into the heats and soul of a woman who has been touched by tradgedy and love on so many levels. Ones that we can relate to and a story that teaches us to embrace what we love, hold onto those close to us, make every day count and keep going no matter what. A brave woman sharing her incredible journey in a humourous and entertaining way.

Beautifully written, this memoir from Amanda Prowse was an enjoyable read. She invites us into her life, baring her secrets and thoughts. The memoir was candid and riveting.
Unfortunately, memoirs are not my favourite genre of books so overall this was not for me.

Just wow. I've been blown away by Amanda's fictional writing before and this candidly brave memoir is just as good if not better. Better because of the honesty in the self-deprecating humor, the lessons learned, and the changes she made to become the woman she is today. It's relatable and women like us will recognize parts of ourselves in her words. Better because we can now see the woman and the writer and can feel a connection through shared life experiences. This is Amanda Prowse, vulnerable yet strong and inspiring women like us everywhere.

When one of your favorite authors publishes her memoir, you're inclined to be interested. When that favorite author is Amanda Prowse, you know you must read it. That was the case for me. I love her books, and having followed her on social media and seen her in interviews, I felt sure her memoir would read like her fiction - raw and real and relatable - and I wasn't wrong. She's written a wonderful account of her life to date, with the highs and lows and everything in between. She's shared embarrassment and success. And it all feels like sitting with a friend with a glass of wine and trading life stories (without the whole "trading" part, of course). Her writing, as always, is wonderfully accessible without being simplistic. She's learned some lessons through her life to date, and she generously shares the lessons and the experiences that taught them.
Besides being a fan of her writing, I'm also a big fan of her audiobooks, most of which she narrates herself. So I read some of this with my eyes, but mostly enjoyed it with my ears and as always, her narration was exceptional.
Thanks to Netgalley and Amazon Publishing UK for providing a copy for an unbiased review.

Excellent!!! This author is so honest and LIKEABLE. She has been through hell, for which I feel so bad. But she makes us not feel alone and like we can be honest and real about our ugliest times too. She is so relatable and someone I'd like to have as a friend! Great writing, great book.

This memoir is so powerful and one I would encourage everyone to read. I haven't read a lot of Amanda's novels but this memoir is one that I was really keen to read after reading the blurb. There is so much in this book that I, and I would think a lot of women, can identify with - weight issues, surgeries, miscarriage being some. It was Amanda's battle with food and her weight that really got me through as I have struggled with the same through all of my adult life. I finally got to grips with my issues a couple of years ago and have never looked back but I find it so helpful to read other people's battles with the same. It helps me understand my own issues and to know I'm not alone. Amanda is so open and honest in this book, it felt like I was hearing from a friend. I loved this memoir and have now bought my own copy - it is a book I will definitely re-read in the future and I will continue to recommend it.

I was very hopeful when i requested this book from Netgalley. This story just wasn't for me. It had nothing to do with the author or the book. I will still recommend to anyone that reads in this genre.

I feel like this memoir (mostly) could have been written about me. Constantly worrying about weight is something I found heartbreakingly relatable. I found it touching to be able to share this journey with Amanda and her family. It really is a heart wrenching look into the world of eating disorders, pain, and everything else in between. Must read for anyone who is a fan of memoirs. Amanda’s words will resonate for a long time after you read the last page.
