I am so mad at myself for not reading this sooner despite it being sat on my tbr for years. Stunning from start to finish. I love the dynamic between the sisters. I love the world. I am obsessed.

This book was the perfect blend of all my favourite YA fantasy tropes and ideas! The comp titles did not mislead —it felt just as beautiful and adventurous as promised. And I LOVED being a part of the Street Team; what an experience!!

Has everything I wanted in a book, read super quick because I wanted to know what happened but equally didn’t want it to end. Loved the characters and book as a whole, can’t wait for book two.

A really fantastic novel with a well realised world. I adored Wren and Rose and flew through the story. Entertaining and swoony, I loved this and can't wait for the next book.

WHAT A BOOK! I am HONESTLY OBSESSED! Katherine & Catherine has made a pure beautiful novel which is so joyful to read. I adored both twins equally, both sides of the story really give me so much fun and every character is just beautiful in there own way. I Cant wait for the second instalment.

As a fantasy and romance lover, I was immediately intrigued by this book. Twin sisters separated at birth? Both groomed in different ways for the same end goal? Role reversal? Falling for someone from the life of your twin? Sing. Me. Up.

The story did not disappoint - in fact, it went above and beyond my expectation for a YA novel, and kept me hooked the whole way through. The alternating points of view between the sisters keep the narrative dynamic, and though I had a clear favourite (Wren, obviously), I enjoyed following along with both of them. The love interests are quite swoony too - always a plus in a story!

There are some excellent twists along the way, and after that ending, I cannot wait for the next instalment to come out!

This is a great YA fantasy romance read with two strong female main characters. I loved both Wren and Rose, so different from each other and each have their own strengths and weaknesses. It was light and fun with lots of great tropes included and I can see how people will love this one.

I think lots of clues have been dropped for other plot points that will come up in book two and I look forward to seeing if the ones I made note of come to fruition

Let me tell you, this book surpassed my expectations! I couldn’t and didn’t want to put it down. It was that good. I adore high fantasy books with princesses and I adore witchy books, so this book brought them together, which was perfection!

Wren and Rose are identical twins who were separated at birth. Rose was raised as a princess and Wren was raised as a witch. Only Wren knew she had a sister and planned with the witches to one day infiltrate the kingdom and switch places with Rose to take her place as Queen. The Kingsbreath runs the kingdom in place of Rose and her coronation is fast approaching. Before she knows it Rose has been kidnapped by one of the witches and Wren has taken her place.

‘Very well, Shen Lo. But if I fall to my death, I promise you my spirit won’t linger in that forest. It will haunt you until the end of your days, and then when you die, I will berate you until the end of time itself.’

Twin Crowns is told from both Rose and Wren’s perspective, and to my joy they both have love interests! Rose is kidnapped by a warrior witch and there is immediate tension between the two. Rose immediately tries to escape but has no idea where she is and is not equipped for the terrain they’re travelling on. By living at the palace, she is very sheltered to life outside of it. Some readers might not like Rose because she may act entitled at times, but I loved her. I was rooting for the romance and felt a lot of sympathy for her as she found out about having a twin and her whole life was turned upside down in an instant.

‘Don’t worry about your safety today, I have eight different weapons on my person as we speak.’

Once Wren successfully infiltrates the palace, she has to act as Rose, which includes going on the occasional date with the prince courting Rose. The only thing is, according to Wrren he is incredibly boring, and she finds herself much more interested in his guard. I read a review earlier saying Wren has the majority of the plot, whilst Rose has the romance, and to some extent I think this is true. The main plot of taking down the Kingsbreath comes from Wren’s pov, but I think Rose has to deal with a lot of new experiences and is trusted into a completely new environment where everyone wishes she was Wren.

I can’t express how much I loved this book and cannot wait for the sequel. I couldn’t recommend this book anymore, so please do yourself a favour and read it!

I really enjoyed this book, especially the parts about Rose. I just loved seeing these two sisters that seem like they're entire worlds apart come together and it all felt like reading one of the romantic adventures i used to binge read when i was younger. Highly recommend it!

NEW BOOK BOYFRIEND WARNING!!!

Tor... oh my! Get ready to for swoon worthy romances with lots of back and forth, banter and tension filled relationships. The best thing about this duel POV book is that you get a two for one on your romance storylines and both build beautifully.
There are so many characters in this book that have such an impact on the plot. None are filler characters, all are richly developed and each have such unique personality, adding so much to the story. Celeste is one of my favourites, as Roses best friend she bring some much needed sass and comedic moments to break tension, and Shen Lo's comic timing and familiar friendship with Wren makes him completely lovable.
The contrast between Wren and Rose and how they subtly develop throughout the book is masterfully done and you find yourself rooting for each twin in turn.

The lore of magic works well within the world, I found the magic system easy to follow. It had history and reason, it felt well researched and thought out. I enjoyed learning about the different magic the witches possessed and the history behind how they came to be.

Beautiful world building is used to create Eana. You can feel the Irish inspiration to the majority of the world but there are contrasting areas with desert and a brutal costal line. Both are beautifully described and the creativity around the creatures and events in these lands lends to an exciting plot. Because of the vast differences int he world it feels full and the span of the world is well traveled by the characters. (If you like a traveling trope this could fall into that catagory for you)

This book is written in both twins POV, alternating chapters which I always love as you get to see so much more of the world and meet so many more characters. In this case, as I mentioned above, it gives you the time to really get to know and understand the characters as well as the magic in this world. The plot is a good pace throughout but the end is on fire! Non stop, heartbreaking and leaves you yearning for more, all thanks to the great build up in the writing.
I simply can not wait for book two, this one is going to stick with me for some time, a truly wonderful addition to Young Adult Fantasy Rom-com.

A big thank you to Farshore/Electric Monkey and Netgalley for allowing me a copy of Twin Crowns to review.

Thank you to NetGalley and to Balzer + Bray for this advanced readers copy. All opinions are my own.

I'm rating this three out of five stars for the good chunk that I did read. I am having to DNF at 80% though.

I really enjoyed the beginning and the setup but unfortunately the story lost my interest. The fantasy elements were dragging and the plot was starting to make less and less sense as the story progressed. I wished the story had focused more on the sister relationship and less on the romantic relationships that were less to be desired. This felt like a romance novel with fantasy as a sub plot not the other way around. The romances were too mature and I felt like I was reading an adult book.

If you like adult romance with fantasy added this is for you. But not for me.

Excellent world building and two strong female protagonists, a fantasy coming of age story with some romance thrown in too. Loved all of the icy animals and would be hard pressed to choose a favourite character from between the twins. Can’t wait for the next one!

Mediocre feelings

Twin Crowns was one of my most highly anticipated reads for this year and I'm sad that I don't have strong feelings one way or another. It was okay, I didn't love and I didn't hate.

These sisters, twins were from completely different sides of the track. One was privileged, one was from more humble means. Rose annoyed me and Wren was much more likeable. I preferred Wren's story arc, her love interest and what was going on in her side of the book.

It's an interesting story overall, if a little long. I will definitely give the second book a go.

Thank you to the publisher through netgalley for the e-ARC.

My students are going to adore this!! The two points of view work so wel together, which allows the reader to fully invest in our protagonists and their struggles and achievements.

First off, I have to give a huge thank you to the authors Katherine Webber and Catherine Doyle for allowing me to read an E-ARC of this book. I really can't thank them enough and I enjoyed this book immensely.

Twin Crowns was easily a 5 star read for me and it grabbed me from the beginning, which not many books are able to do these days. Its a rom-com fantasy with twins and it entertained me from start to finish. And while it is definitely a fantasy novel, I would say it's a very accessible fantasy and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone who was just trying to dip their toe into fantasy.

Twin Crowns follows twins Rose and Wren who were separated at birth, one raised as a princess and one raised as a witch. Wren spent her whole life preparing to kidnap her sister and take her role as the crowned princess. Of course hijinks ensue and the book is honestly just a lot of fun. And of course we can't forget Elske the wolf who stole the show.

There's also two separate romances in the book and our love interests Shen Lo and Tor were quite swoon worthy. Personally Shen Lo is my favorite but both relationships were so great to watch unfold and without being too spoilery there may even be a dash of enemies to lovers.

I also have to say that the two sisters have such distinct voices and i really enjoyed both of their stories. If I had to choose a favorite I might say Wren but honestly I'm not even sure because I love them both. They both grow and learn throughout the story, though I will say Rose definitely has a larger growth arc. It was great to see her grow from a "spoiled princess" into a capable woman with strength who you knew would be a great ruler.

I could go on about this book forever because I loved it so much but I don't want to spoil everything. So I will just say this, if you enjoy rom-coms like The Princess Bride, sisters separated at birth trope, enemies to lovers, royalty, magic, court intrigue and fantasy then this book is for you. And even though there were high stakes in the book I somehow found myself smiling most of the way through it because I was enjoying myself so much. So do yourself a favor and go read this!

This is probably about a 3.5 but I've rounded up. This was an interesting novel and the two viewpoints were refreshingly succint and it was very clear that both sisters had very different personalities and motivations which was great. They also had very distinct storylines.

The world-building is diverse and there are a lot of different aspects to it. Sometimes, however, whenever history was being explained to one of the characters it felt a lot like an info dump and took me out of the story, particularly towards the end when everything was happening very fast and there was just a break to describe something that happened hundreds of years ago with previous queens. It just felt a little clunky.

Character wise I loved one twin and ... tolerated the other. I really struggled with Rose's chapters and found her entire personality to be a bit much... By the end I had warmed to her a little but still found her chapters harder to get through (which is annoying because for a large chunk of the book, hers were the more exciting ones with the the more interesting side characters). Wren's storyline was pretty obvious but still interesting and I liked her as a character a little more. In terms of love interests, I adored both Shen Lo and Tor but didn't really feel much of a connection in either of the actual romances. They weren't bad, I just wasn't buying it. Also, I want more Celeste.

This took me a really long time to get through, and I have no real reason as to why. I enjoyed it but didn't love it.

Thank you to the authors for a gifted copy, all opinions are my own.

Read for:
👑 Twins separated at birth
👑 Hidden royalty
👑 Slow burn romance/opposites attract
👑 So much banter
👑 Witches and magic
👑 Elske, the best animal companion!

This book is ✨fun✨! You can just tell that the authors had a great time writing it, because it comes through so strongly on the page. Take Stephanie Garber’s beautiful lyrical writing, splash in some of Throne of Glass book 1, and add a little Princess Bride with Katie and Cat’s humor and you’ll have Twin Crowns. It’s swoony, adventurous, and I’m so excited for the next book in this duology!

Firstly I’d like to thank the publisher and Netgalley for the e-arc 😍❤️

This book was absolutely magical to read I loved everything about it, the premise the characters, the backstory of them all and the magical lands that I’ve been invented but, for me, the part that was most intriguing was the masterful way that the authors allowed us to almost think that we knew the story 😏😏 It might only be me but while I was reading the book it was so familiar (in the most amazing way), it felt comforting, like it was a fairytale that I already knew and Rose and Wren fable that I’d been told as a child, only that I was on a new journey with them and Shen and Tor were coming along for the ride ❤️❤️

I absolutely the opposite POV, gives an insight into both sides of what happened after the first couple of chapters and it allows us equal time to connect to both Rose and Wren. It shows both their adventure but also what the others life was like before the book.

It also features some of my favourite tropes - Forced Proximity, Enemies to Lovers and over throwing a crown 😍😍 What more could you want? If you love witches, brilliant romance, The Man in the Iron Mask, Dune and Frozen then I have a feeling you’ll like this book!! (I love how confusing my comparisons are 😂😏) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Of course!!

Twin Crowns included every thing that I love when it comes to a fantasy book; the world-building, the plot, the storyline, etc.

I love the world-building so much. It feels like I'm watching a Disney movie (you know what I mean, right?). It just likes the mixing of Frozen, Tangled and Brave blend into one book (just imagine it!). And to be honest, it's been a while since the last time I read any YA fantasy book that gave me this Disney-kind vibes!

I am in love with this book already. The way the authors described everything keep making me amazed every time I read it, make me want for more.

Moreover, this book included every tropes I love: "I was supposed to hunt your kind" and "I should not fall in love with my handsome kidnapper" kind of enemies to lovers, Forbidden romance, Slowburn and forced proximity romance, witches and of course, handsome evil brutal king. Therefore, if you love the tropes too, I beg you to pre-order your copy of this book!

Hands down, everyone! Twin Crowns is my new favourite read of the year, and here you go into "my top favourite fantasy books ever" list! I can't wait for my Waterstones edition copy to arrive, so I can re-read it again (wanna join me, dear?).
