I needed a short great book and this was it!

I am not a big fan of novella's but this one I fell in love with both Spencer and Kimberleigh. The enemies to lovers trope is always a big win for me and I enjoyed how they has great chemistry. I have to say that the panic attack situation was a true reflection for me at least about what happens when I have one. A fun read, perfect for a day at the beach.

Thank you so much to Susannah Nix for an ARC of Star Bright! This novella was so much fun to read and felt incredibly original. I loved the fast pace of the book which makes this book perfect to bring to the beach or pool when the weather starts to get warmer.

I also enjoyed the growth of the main characters in the book. While brief, this story tackles some serious topics, like anxiety and privacy. I appreciated how delicately this topics were handled and the growth of the main Hero. I also enjoyed that the main character owned up to his mistakes, and did not try to misplace blame in certain situations!

Read this book if you like…
* Celebrity romance
* Enemies to lovers
* Meet-ugly
* Secret relationship

This was a cute novella that I really liked. I read it in one sitting. I enjoy a good enemies to lovers trope and this was perfect. The MCs, a tabloid reporter and a famous actress, were believable and I like how well their anxiety issues are addressed. This would have been fun as a full length too, 5 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is a novella so I knew it would be short. I liked the characters and their banter with each other. The romance felt a little rushed and the enemies part didn't last past 1 conversation. I would have liked more build up and tension, and less time on the actual relationship. Also it does have a hated trope - miscommunication. In all I enjoyed the writing style and the plot overall but it was just to insta-love and rushed for my taste.

This book was a cute enemy to lovers novella that I found easy to read in one sitting. I loved the chemistry between the characters and that Nix highlighted that people in the spotlight go through struggles just like regular people. Literally my only wish is that it had been longer because I could have kept ready this story days because I didn’t want to be done with the characters. Definitely a 5 star read! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an arc copy of this book.

This was the first book I've read by Susannah Nix so going into it I honestly didn't know what to expect. I was definitely presently surprised how enjoyable this story was. I love a good enemies to lovers story. With Kimberleigh the actress and Spencer the reporter. Their chemistry was undeniable and all the more fun when it's kept in secret.

This is definitely a book I could have devoured in one sitting. I'm glad this is the first in its series and I can't wait to read book two.

Thank you Netgallery for the eARC of Star Bright in exchange for a honest review.

This was a cute novella.

Read this book as an arc and it was good! Couldn’t put it down, enjoyed the plot points, but I feel like there was some missed opportunities. The timeline didn’t bother me except for how quick it turned from enemies to lovers and then also how we only get one spicy scene and lead on the rest of the book. Biggest issue with the missing spice was that the set up for it was there but then the chapter would end and then we move on with the plot. If this was my first introduction to rom coms, I think it wouldn’t bother me. Overall, a great first read for anyone who is unsure about any spice in books!

First of all I want to thank the publisher, Haver Street Press, the author and NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC book.

Kimberleigh is a strong girl who has long learned to hide her emotions. She is determined to get her career off the ground, to always look perfect and never make mistakes. This is the downside of being a star.
Journalists know how to be cruel in order to make money on a story to offer to fans.

Once Spencer enters her life, things will change.
Will you, who had never trusted anyone, be able to open your heart to the journalist?

"She'd liked having him close in her moment of need. Too much, probably."

I had never read a book by this author but I must say that I liked the book. The story is not very innovative but still it entertained me for a few hours.

It is an enemies-to-lovers, so if you like this trope (which by the way is one of my favorites) I recommend it.
Another plus is the very smooth writing style.

Just finished Star bright and wow, it was such a cute short novella that I couldn't put it down. I read this in one sitting and needed more. I absolutely loved Kimberliegh and Spencer, I was expecting a little more enemies-to-lovers tension but I'm not mad that it quickly turned into a second chance trope (I do love some good groveling). I really did like the way anxiety and panic attacks were portrayed in this book (found it very relatable) Overall the book was 3stars for me. Definitely recommend but beware you might have to sit somewhere comfy cause you will not want to get up.
Susannah, I will so be reading more of your books:)

I received this as an ARC to review from the publisher and NetGalley in return for my true honest thoughts after reading this book.

This was such a cute short read! I loved that the characters connected in a way that isn’t common in other romances and shed some light on some very relevant feelings/situations that people go through everyday.

Although I would have loved to see more of the “enemies” in the enemies to lovers aspect, I’m excited to check out the rest of the series!

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for an eARC of this book.

TRIGGER WARNING: mention of past trauma and alcoholism and panic attacks
“For everyone who’s tired of trying to be strong all the time”
“Sure … Who wouldn’t want to be part of a magical formula of romance and comedy joined together in a cinematic perfect storm of happiness?”
This book was really good !!!
I got into it first reading it because I wanted to read a romance book with a little bit of fluffy scenes and maybe some spice but ,by the end, I got into reading a book that was actually entertaining and funny!!!
A romance story between an actress and a journalist, with some secrets from the past and a hard time trusting and relying on each other … this book also dealt with what it means to show the best, every time to everyone, and then hide your real feelings and your real distress and needs under an armour of fake happiness!!!
Kimberleigh was such a relatable and real character … I felt just like her most of the times!!!! And Spencer …
Honestly Spencer was just something else !! I didn’t expect him to be like that!!! And what’s even better is that I thought the story’d developed a little bit longer on the enemies to lovers trope but, at the end of it, I really liked that he was the first one to fall and that he loved, respected and supported her until the very end!!!
If you’re into a fluffy, entertaining, short story of a romance that starts with enemies to lovers and then develops with something different, then this is the book for you!!!
Check this one out and the other books in the series!!!
“Dream of me” … “ I never dream of anything else”
“Love always matters”

Summary: Kimberleigh is an A List actress who hides a lot of her true self from the public. Imagine her surprise when Spencer Delvin, renowned journalist, comes along and pulls them all out of her. But not for the publicity.

I fell for these characters so fast. Kimberleigh was funny and witty from the get go and Spencer was so kind and understanding and sweet (and also funny) that I was rooting for this pair from their first meeting.
My only qualm is that this book wasn’t long enough! Some parts felt like they moved a tad bit too fast; I wanted to see more of their relationship in certain instances.
However, the way it all panned out, the swoons I felt, the ending? Amazing. Incredible. I want more of these two specifically!

Thank you Netgalley and publishers for allowing me the chance to read and review.

“She's an A-list Hollywood starlet. He's a gossip reporter. Sleeping with the enemy has never been sweeter.”

When we first meet Kimberleigh, she hates gossip report, Spencer, after a bad interview experience. So, I was definitely expecting a little bit more of a slow burn, but it really wasn’t. They moved past that very fast.

I was SOLD on these two by chapter 2. The whole story was fast paced, it was a quick read.

The major conflict was… annoying. I know, a major part of her character was trust issues, but it was just a little frustrating.

I really did like Spencer and Kimberleigh both, although I loved Spencer. As much as I love reading about bad boys, sweet and soft boys are under appreciated, and that’s definitely what he was. So sweet.

I’ll definitely be picking up the other books in the Starstruck series, but I’m rating Star Bright 4 stars.

Star Bright - Susannah Nix.
Romance

Review:
Star bright is a romance set in Hollywood. The main characters/love interests are an actress and an entertainment reporter. The story begins as a enemies to lovers. I did find the “enemies” part pretty unconvincing, and was glad when they encountered different issues. I found the final half much more engaging than the first and, overall really enjoyed it! I cried multiple times (that’s a good thing) because I really felt connected to the characters. I found them oddly relatable - not the rich actress part, but the issues they encountered!

I read this in between two heavier reads as a “palette cleanser” and was absolutely perfect. It was just what I wanted and I actually ended up reading it in one sitting!

Not particularly diverse, racially, but there wasn’t a lot of descriptions of characters’ appearances, except the two MC. There was not any LGBTQIA+ representation.

Rating: 4/5
Spice level: 3.5/5

Trigger warnings - vague discussion of alcoholism

I received an advanced reader copy of this book via NetGalley but was under no obligation to provide a review.

*Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this book for review, all opinions are my own*

I liked this book more than I thought I would, which made me very happy.
This is not a book for everyone, if you like slow burn this book is not for you, now if you want a romance that goes straight to the point, that follows the characters only in the important moments that don't go on and on in the descriptions and doesn't stay going around in circles in the story, but at the same time you can see the development of the couple and fall in love with them at the same time they fall in love with each other.
I loved how the author wrote, the structure she used made the book a quick and enjoyable read. We have several very well worked clichés and a very well done romance.
I highly recommend it!

Though I know that I'm not a big fan of celebrity/Hollywood romance, I surprisingly loved this one! I've read a couple of Nix's books before and I loved the writing style, including the one in this book.

It has enemies to lovers trope (which is... my top favorite) between an A list Hollywood actress with her nemesis reporter that turns into second chance romance. Since this is a novella, the pace of the book felt really fast, even the relationship was insta-love. The characters turned from enemies to friends to lovers very quickly, I wished we could see more of them as enemies and didn't suddenly forgive each other after 20% of the book, and find themselves in her bed after.

I loved how the author portrayed the reality of having a relationship in the Hollywood industry and how she described panic attacks in a realistic way. The mental health issue representation is definitely a plus point.

This book felt like a second half of normal length romance books where they finally start liking each other and deciding on what their relationship should be. I can see that it has so much potential as a normal length romance book, but even as a novella, it already is great enough.

Overall, it was a very fun lighthearted short read. Will definitely read the rest of the series!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.

𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝑵𝒆𝒕𝑮𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒖𝒃𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆-𝒂𝒓𝒄.

This novella is definitely a well done one. I enjoyed the start of the starting point of the story that did not just stop there but went on on the last page.

Showbiz story, isn’t really something that I enjoyed but this one made me want to read more about it.

Another thing I enjoyed about this book is how it displayed the struggles of being a big personality of someone in this industry and combining realistic characters that you’ll just ended up liking.

Aside from that, I also did enjoy the development of the so called hated-to-love relationship between Kimberleigh and Spencer, although it displayed in an instant love, the chemistry and the pull is really there.

I truthfully enjoyed their interaction, their understanding and intimacy throughout the story, as well as the friendship they had with other characters.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Nothing too angsty, just the right amount of everything.
