Absolutely amazing thriller, wasn't expecting the end, highly recommended. Couldn't put it down, will get more by this amazing author.

I love Sarah Pinborough, and this book was fantastic. it wasn't the best ever but it was the most fun I've had reading a thriller. It took a wee while to get into but in the end I'm glad I didn't give up. I basically finished the whole book in 24 hours. There were twists, points that made you question everything you know about the characters, just plain CONFUSION, and an ending I did not expect. Overall if you like her previous books and enjoy a thriller then I would absolutely pick this up. Thank you to netgallery and the publisher for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review!

I read a kindle copy alongside this audiobook with my lovelies over at #thebitcrackbookclub that’s hosted by @booky_weirdo - I was not disappointed!

We all know that I’m not an auto-buy thriller gal! But, I’m REALLY enjoying dipping my toes into this genre more! This read/listen had me REALING! Gaslighting has never been more shockingly crafted into such savage suspense! I was so caught up in the storyline… Intense…? I feel I need a stronger word! 😅

This book really resonated with me and I was so so engrossed! I loved the audiobook, I think it just enveloped me into the grasps of Pinborough’s writing even more! It was narrated well and flowed easily!

As per usual, I didn’t get the twist and was utterly thrilled by the end of the book! I’d recommend picking this up if you haven’t yet! 👏🏻

Clever and disturbing in equal measures. Fascinating insight in to family issues. Kept me enthralled until the very end!

I listened to this book during my drives home from work while the tube and train strikes were on. What is normally a 55 minute drive (with no traffic) was taking me between 2 1/2 to 3 hours. I could very much relate to our protagonist’s descriptions of insomnia and delirium, because I was having daily delusions of my own as I lost my mind in standstill traffic. The book was a well written twisty turny tale where we’re not quite sure who to believe until ~the big reveal~. A tried and tested trope with a few weird aspects, but on the whole, an enjoyable read.

I simply love the way Sarah Pinborough writes!
Her books are always creepy, weird, but very easy to follow, as everything is laid out so clearly.

The concept of this book was very simple, and I got hooked on it in no time. A woman turning 40, thinking that she's going crazy just like her mother did. A very unsupportive family, a son that starts to be scared of his mother, memory loss, virtually inexistent sleeping, secrets that start to come to the surface... This book had everything I love.

I listened to the audiobook and I think some passages were made even creepier by the narrator. I think she did an excellent job interpreting a woman who is on the brink of an emotional breakdown, and would definitely recommend this version of the book.

Also, I became slightly obsessed with the song they keep referring to... look a candle, a book, and a bell, I put them behind me... it is now saved in my playlist.

Thank you Netgallery and HarperCollins UK for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Sarah Pinborough does not disappoint! After having high expectations from reading 'Behind her eyes' I knew, that this book would rock my entire existence for days... and I was right.
We are taken on a roller coaster ride where Emma has to face her past regarding her mother, whilst believing that she herself was going mad. Throughout the book, I kept thinking that Emma's sister, Phoebe and husband, Robert were plotting against Emma in order to file for a divorce, have a huge money settlement and sole custody of the kids. How wrong I was!
Until the very last chapter, I did not see the plot unravelling the way it did! Absolutely amazing book!

I enjoyed this to a extent but I did find it a little representative and slightly boring in places.

I think the characters just came a across a little dull to me and could of done with a bit more personality.

overall not a bad book I'm sure other would love it

This is my first book from this author so I wasn't sure what to expect.

Unfortunately the narrator spoilt it for me as I found the voice quite mundane which unfortunately made the book hard to get into.

Another fantastic psychological thriller from the author of Behind Her Eyes! This one had me hooked. The audiobook is so very well narrated and the tension and atmosphere created is perfect!

Emma is a wife, mother and successful lawyer . But she has always worried about turning 40 , as that is when her mother lost her mind and was admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

In the run up to her own 40th birthday , Emma starts having insomnia. She starts doing odd things, things her mother did too... is she losing her mind?
Is it the insomnia?
Or is someone messing with her? I was suspecting everyone at one point!

An eerie thriller that was definitely enhanced by the brilliant narration!

"Look, Look, a candle a book and a bell"

Sarah Pinborough is one of those authors you don't even need to read the blurb to know you'll like it - love her style of writing and she always delivers. This one is no different - the sense of creeping dread builds perfectly as you plough through it. A masterclass in building tension!

I do like listening to a audio book. Especially one that is gripping. Like this one. It is well read, a well written book, with plenty of twist and turns and will keep you gripped and guessing all the way through.

4 stars.
The concept was great - as a 40 year old woman some aspects of Emma’s story rang true for me. While implausible, the ending was nicely wrapped up.
I felt it was somewhat overlong and there was a lot of repetition.
A good sun lounger read.

Great read; the ending was really unexpected and usually that type of twist wouldn't be for me, but it fit really well with the story. The character development, plot and setting was faultless. I will definitely read more from the author. An unexpected gem of a book.

Enjoyed listening to this book and once I pressed play found I was completely dragged into the world of Emma and her busy life. Some repitition, but I think this was to make it clear what she was having to go through.
Well worth a listen..
Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.

What can you do when there is a timer on your sanity? There is just 12 days until Emma Averell’s 40th birthday. 40 is a momentous birthday for most people but for Emma it marks the birthday that turned her own mother into a monster…..would it be the same for her? A successful lawyer with a loving stay at home husband and a beautiful family Emma worriedly counts down the days. Suffering from lack of sleep, gaps in memory and finding herself doing the things her own mother did before she ended up in psychiatric unit she starts to fall apart. Accused of murder and losing her mind Emma’s story pulls you right in. This book was so dark and twisted, Emma, while I couldn’t relate to her I was cheering her on while ripping off my finger nails. The narrator of this was so good, the slight change in the tone of the characters voice in parts had you tuning in to what was coming up but still had you on edge. There was a slight hint of chaos towards the end of the book that had my mind going off in crazy directions and suspecting everyone but the final twist and bang of this book was magnificent. Another fantastic book from Sarah Pinborough

Insomnia is a psychological thriller that I did enjoy. Admittedly I found it quite slow at first but I mainly listened to it and the narrator was very good. I actually preferred the times I spent listening rather than reading it . Once I settled into the book I was hooked.

I enjoyed listening to this book and thought the narrated was great, the story was different to what I expected and had a supernatural twist to it,l. A supernatural vibe with lots of twists. I loved the physiological aspects although the paranoia over a 40th birthday was hard to believe to the extend was shown, overall. Though a good plot that keeps you guessing,

EMMA IS A SUCCESFULL LAWYER, WIFE AND A MOTHER. UNTIL ONE DAY SHE CAN'T SLEEP. THAN ANOTHER AND ANOTHER.. IS SHE GOING MAD LIKE HER MOTHER, IS IT BECAUSE SHE'S ABOUT TO TURN 40.. OR IS SOMEBODY OUT THERE TRYING TO FRAME HER..

I HAVE ENJOYED THE BOOK. IT WAS VERY TENSE AND AT SOME STAGE I WAS SUSPECTING JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY IN THE BOOK.
IT WAS REALLY WELL DONE ON AUDIO.

THE ONLY NEGATIVE AND REASON I GIVE IT ONLY 3 STARS IS THE FACT THAT IT WAS JUST TOO MUCH..
THE WILD TWIST GOT ME THINKING THOUGH :)

Emma suddenly develops Insomnia and the story revolves around why
It started off slowly but then the storyline developed and you found out the characters all had some part to play.
As it develops Emma begins to question her won sanity and the safety of her family and then the ending wound up very quickly so the epilogue was good to find out what happened after
I enjoyed this listen but felt the end was rushed
