A very late review due to health reasons. But my word, was it worth the wait! Absolutely loved this book. This is the first one I have read, I was tempted to pause, read the others and come back, but I just couldn’t put it down.
I love the characters, their own ways and stories. I cant wait to read more.
Absolute stellar book

I requested this last year not realizing that it was part of a series, and although it could be read as a standalone, I feel that you need to have read the first two to really understand the characters.

Now after devouring the first two in this series I finally came back to this.

This novel center's on Cyrus, Evie and Elias who is being released and coming to live with them. In fact for me it was so focused on the relationships between the three that at times I was not sure about the missing women. The plot keeps revolving round them but it does not catch the connection until after half way through and its then that the novel really picks up.

The clues are there, You just need to pay attention to them.

We get to know Evie and Cyrus better, and we have Elias to add to the dynamics. The brother who murdered the rest of the family and has done his time. Its a testament to the writing that we become engaged in everyone and still keep track of everything and everyone else in the novel.

The thee novels are in this series are all worthwhile reading, and thank you to Netgalley and the publisher by approving me for this one which in turn introduced me to the first two.

I can't wait until the next installment.

What I like about Robotham's books are the no-nonsense straightforward prose, and totally credible dialogue. Even, who Cyrus took in a year ago, has flaws but she's smart .. and to hunt a missing girl Cyrus and his police colleague Lenny need all the help they caN get. Enjoyable and Professional I was really persuaded throughout .. ending was surprising and satisfying. I look forward to another story with these people.

Lying Beside You is the third book in the series featuring Cyrus Haven and Evie Ward. Same as with the previous two novels this one too has a great, gripping storyline. Michael Robotham is an amazing writer and a master of his craft. I can’t wait for the next installment in this series.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Whilst I ramble incoherently here, I have to add that I’m really unsure how a written review will do this book justice. Please just trust me when I say – THIS IS A MUST READ.

First off... the cover! The colours straight away grabbed my attention and that was before even seeing it was someone's hair.. who doesn't love a cover that makes you stop in your tracks?

Now whilst this is the third book in the Cyrus Haven series, it's the first one I have read. I found it super easy to get to grips with and wasn't at all thwarted by not reading the first two books.

Cyrus Haven is a Forensic Psychologist and Criminal Profiler who works and lives with his prodigy Evie Cormac.

Evie is a 21 year old troubled soul who has suffered unspeakable trauma and is still struggling to find her place in the world but with Cyrus's guidance she is finally finding her way step by step.

Twenty years ago Cyrus's brother Elias was sent to a psychiatric hospital after killing their parents and twin sisters, after the voices told him to.

On his release he is taken in by Cyrus who now has to learn to live with his brothers return which he is struggling with.

The narrative switches between Cyrus and Evie which flowed brilliantly. Evie is a girl to be reckoned with and her dark humour has me laughing out loud at points.

The story is complex with Cyrus investigating the murder of a disabled man who's daughter has also gone missing. Later another woman is kidnapped... are these cases all related in some way??

This is a dark, compelling, compulsive read that had me guessing the whole way through. A total page turner thatbinfound completely unputdownable.

Huge thanks to netgalley and Little Brown Book Group UK for the ARC.

Lying Beside You is another fantastic thriller from Michael Robotham and the third in a series featuring Cyrus Haven and Evie Cormac.
Cyrus is a forensic psychologist working with the police to help get into the minds of the most twisted criminals. In this book Cyrus’s brother Elias is about to be released from a secure unit after murdering his parents and twin sisters when he was a teenager. Cyrus is also helping the police after a woman is found murdered, tied up and with her head shaved.
Evie is still struggling to find her way in the world despite having an extraordinary talent of knowing when someone is lying.
I was completely gripped by this book and would recommend starting with the first book if you haven’t already read it. This book would work as a stand alone novel but why miss out on two other amazing books?

what a book, two brothers so very different but still close blood ties. I loved Evie's character, always fighting to survive and live a 'normal life', a tragic story and so gripping I couldnt put it down, love more please!

I absolutely love this series and was looking forward to catching up with Cyrus and Evie. What I would say is that if you haven't read the first two books I would advise you do. It certainly gives you the background on these two characters and explains a lot about their current situation. The story focuses on Cyrus brother Elias potentially being released from the secure hospital he is currently residing at. The other element of the story surrounds a dead man being found and the search for his missing daughter.

Evie is such a complex character but alongside Cyrus their strange and unorthodox relationship makes for compulsive reading. Evie is living with Cyrus as a lodger and decides to dip her toe into the world of work getting herself a job collecting glasses at a bar. What she doesn't count on is being dragged into the case by being the last witness to see the missing woman alive.

I don't want to expand on the storyline for fear of spoilers but the storyline as always is completely engaging from the first to the last page. I feel like we are getting to see Evie grow up and learn how to live like a normal person her age does. Alongside her Cyrus remains steadfastly single and dedicated to his job and looking after both his brother and Evie. I read this in two straight sittings and as soon as I was finished I wanted to read another. Disappointingly I have to probably wait the best part of a year for the next book. A brilliant book which I loved and would highly recommend.

This is the first novel I have read in the Cyrus Haven series although I really have really enjoyed the Joe O'Loughlin series.
20 years ago, Cyrus Haven's older brother Elias murdered their family and now he is set to be released from a high security hospital. Meanwhile, Evie Cormac is still lodging with Cyrus, and she is drawn into his latest investigation into young women who are going missing in Nottingham.
As ever with the author's novels the writing is of a high standard, and I was particularly drawn into the missing women case. I was interested to learn about Elias's crime and how Cyrus was able to forgive him and offer him a home. The weak point of the novel for me was the character of Evie, I didn't warm to her and found her sections of the novel the least interesting. This may of course be because I haven't read books 1 and 2 in the series and so have little understanding of the childhood trauma she experienced, although the author does touch on this. However, I still found this to be an enjoyable and well written thriller and will certainly read more from the author.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this digital ARC.
