Nighttime for Just Us Two (vol. 1) follows a girl Chiro who is quiet and doesn't socialize very much, on the opposing side is Koga a popular classmate of hers. One day she sees Koga and he claims that he's an alien and he wants to be her friend. That starts their journey together.

Overall this was a really cute manga. The art was cute and the two main characters were nice as well. If you're looking for a light read and a good time I definitely recommend this book!

Heroine (Miyako Nikaido): "I just need to get by, like always. Like I always have." Next Page "Dangerous Curiosity" Gurl Same!
Chiro-Chan: To CUTE. This boy can and will be the death of me.
Koga-Kun: Rot in Hell.

This manga had no fucking right to go as hard as it did. Like the whole first half of this volume was a really good allegory for Depression.
But also this book head on confronts the importance of calling someone by their name. In this case it is the Heroine's given name. But this narrative could be swapped out for a Dead Name vs Chosen Name.
(Also looking back now I'm sad at the missed opportunity for the Heroine to be Trans)

I Love this Manga, every single page of it! I will be continuing this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Kodansha for another wonderful and light hearted manga with an out of this world twist!

Starting in a new class and unable to make friends easily is all to understandable for introverts like myself. While most struggle to appear normal and interested in the non-popular shows or characters, they come across as quiet to others. However there are those few who, to their peers are seen as the oddball for even the slightest misunderstanding. That's how Miya-chan is seen to her classmates, especially one in particular, Koga-kun, who's the exact opposite of Miya-chan.

Through a series of events Miya-chan somehow befriends Koga-kun, or rather the alien claiming to inhabit his body?! Unsure of what to do in such a situation Miya-chan rolls with it, think Koga-kun is just shy and has to play different people in and out of school However, Miya-chan soon realizes that this is not the case when Koga-kun or Chiro-chan, as he likes to call himself. One body, two very different personalities, not to mention that one glows----Miya-chan has found herself in a serious situation.

I love the interactions between the characters and even the misunderstandings shared with Koga-kun as Miya-chan tries to help him navigate through this strange change. I do think that Koga bullies her a bit too harshly, why I wonder may reveal itself later in the next installment.

I look forward on finding out who Chiro-chan actually is and if Koga-kun will become true friends with Miya-chan.

5/5/ stars!

I had no idea what to expect going into this, but I was pleasantly surprised! I can see this being a slow romance between our two protagonists, with a potential love triangle involving our extraterrestrial friend! Looking forward to seeing where this story goes.

Omg this was so adorable. Chiro-Chan an alien is taking over a teenage boys body. He becomes friends with the introverted girl in school. At first she thought this was absolutely ridiculous because I mean an alien but then he proved to her he was. She thought she enjoyed being alone but now having a friend changes her perspective. I really enjoyed this can't wait for volume 2.

The description for the book says nothing about the chaos within. Going into the manga I completely forgot what the overall description was, this is typical for me, if I find it interesting once I like being a little surprised going into the book. The main character, Miyako, a name no one seems to remember, goes through high school as an introverted loner. Unlike the majority of the school population, Koga seems to remember it. Later she runs into Koga, but he's not like himself.

The fantastical element of Koga and Chiro, the alien, sharing a body sets up for an interesting plot. Since Koga has no relation with Miyako while Chiro has become quite close to Miyako the plot gets set up for an "oh no, what's gonna happen" situation. The reader wants Chiro to stay but also grows to want Koga to have his own body back.

Miyako is the main focus of the story. She is an introverted mc who strays from the typically introverted mc that has a sudden chance and becomes popular. Miyako is ok with who she is and does nothing to change her "fate". This is what made the manga more enjoyable than others with a similar trope.

Although there are no interactions between Koga and Miyako before the beginning of the story the mangaka does an amazing job at slowly allowing the two to connect to one another through the addition of Chiro.

The anticipation I had for Volume 2 after finishing this volume was almost consuming. The desire for the knowledge of what happens next makes me so anxious. If you enjoy a slower-paced relationship growth between characters, Nighttime for Just Us Two is the perfect manga for you.

Miyako Nikaido is something of a wallflower, she spends her days at school unnoticed by her classmates who don't even know her name. Koga-kun, a boy in her class, is her exact opposite, despite his quiet demeanour he's the most popular guy at school with people always buzzing around him. Rather than feeling jealous of Koga, Miyako accepts her circumstances thinking it's best to just get by. However, the one vice she does allow for herself is recharging with cute dog videos on her own. One night, when she decides to take a night time stroll and recharge outside, Koga approaches her, but something feels different about him... and she learns she isn't speaking to Koga but in fact an alien harboring inside his body! The alien reveals that he only comes out at night and asks Miyako if she'll be his first human friend and she names him Chiro. But how will Miyako deal with being caught between two beings in one body

Aliens & fake dating? Count me in. This was fun and I loved all of the little faces Miyako pulled throughout this volume. I'd love to see it get a print release in the future so I can order it into my store!

This is cute and funny. The concept is really weird but I like it.

Nikaido is an introvert at school, no one can seem to get her name right. Interacting It makes her anxious but she doesn't mind at night she goes for walks and sits in her special spot to relax in the quiet and spend time watching dog videos. One night her popular classmate Kugo-kun appears. Though it isn't him! It is an alien in his body, who takes over when he is asleep. Despite being freaked out eventually she comes around and nicknames the alien Chiro-chan and they become friends. Things get crazy when Kugo-kun wakes up.
Mad right?
I like the unlikely 'friendship' and the complication caused by knowing there is an alien inside your classmate's body! One I'd like to continue to see where it goes.

Cute, and a little bit out there... but in all the best ways. This is a very promising start to a new series, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Thank you to Kodansha and Netgalley for allowing me to read an e-arc

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the e-arc.

Not gonna lie, this manga made me laugh so much. Almost every page, this never fails in making me laugh.

Aside from the fact that this was a fun read, I do like the premise of the story. I am not convinced with this whole alien thing and suspect that our hero is daydreaming? and that the other is probably a suppressed personality of his during childhood.

I can't wait for the next volume.

Nighttime for Just Us Two is about a high school girl whose name everyone gets wrong. Only one kid knows her name, but he's possessed by an alien and meets up with her on her nighttime walks. He glows, so maybe he is really an alien? Or maybe not? The alien knows everything the boy does but has to leave notes and videos to communicate with the boy. But the boy tells her she has to pretend to be her boyfriend to help him cover up his strange behavior when he's possessed by the alien. Cute story with fantastic artwork. I can't wait to read volume 2!

Okay, this was one of the cutest things I have read in a very long time. After the first chapter, I was hooked. I am loving the dynamics that are happening between our Nikaido-san and the two guys. It is just so cute and beautifully drawn. It feels like a rom-com version of Parasyte and I had no idea I needed that in my life, but I do. I will absolutely be continuing this series as it releases and I almost never do that with manga.

Truly I don't have a complaint or con for this volume. Volume one hit all the right spots for me when it comes to shoujo romances.

My goodness, this was one helluva weird manga lol. It’s about an alien who possesses a guy’s body and can only come out when the guy is sleeping. The plot is pretty interesting and very quirky for sure. I thought the trope of how nobody can remember Miya-chan’s name was pretty funny. She’s pretty quirky as well and literally has a habit of going for walks in the dead of night to find a spot to sit and watch dog videos…😅 Chiyo-chan was an absolute cutie! He seems like an excited puppy and is always so peppy and adorable. Koga-kun’s character was a bit hard to understand just because he sometimes acts all cute like Chiyo-chan to mess with Miya-chan. He lowkey seems like an a-hole who loves to torment Miya-chan, but I’m sure he’ll have a heart eventually in future volumes 😅 I don’t feel too strongly about any character at this point in time, but I’m curious to see how Miya-chan handles her relationship with both boys in upcoming volumes.

Wow! This felt really fresh and original.
A super nice alien taking over the hot but kind of mean popular boy while he's asleep?

This was such an amazing manga - one of the first in a long time to really grip me from the first volume. It’s both sweet and funny, with a shy, socially awkward female MC and a male MC who due to the alien twist is both sweet and lovely and grumpy and a bit of a dick. I loved the dynamic so much between the three characters, and seeing Miya-chan try and stand up for herself more and say her piece; though it goes terribly, which was really funny! The art style is adorable and I’m so excited for the next volume

It's different from everything i've read in this genre so far. I found very funny how different the behavior between the alien an the boy are and I'm excited to keep reading this series.

Thanks NetGalley for providing me with the book in exchange for an honest review

This was a cute romance with some supernatural elements.

While I'm not particularly a fan of the whole alien residing in a human's body (and I'm predicting Miyako will fall in love with either the alien or Koga), I did enjoy the friendship between Miyako and Chiba the alien. It was sweet and I would want to read more about them in future volumes.

Overall rating: 3/5 stars

Miyako is a quiet introverted girl who no one seems to notice or know her name for that matter. Imagine her shock when high school hottie and all around popular guy Koga wants to be her friend. What's more, he says he's an alien named Chiba! Before she knows it, her high school experience will be anything but normal.

A sweet innocent friendship possibly headed toward romance? An interesting concept with an alien taking over the mind of a teenage boy just to make friends with humans. It starts out slowly, but I'd like to see how things progress between Miayko and her new alien friend, Chiba.

First want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review! I could just scream. I wasn't prepared to love this the way I do. I was iffy because of the cover and then when I started to read the art work was meh so I thought the story was going to be meh and I just got done reading a very MEH manga but NOPE! I absolutely loved this damn manga so much!

Honestly, blew me out the water. Yeah, one of the characters is a complete A-HOLE but without him the story wouldn't be as good as it is! I honestly am sad I can't just read the second volume instantly. I adored this story. I mentioned in my book club that if there were 72 volumes I would have it down by 3 days if not sooner. I can't wait for more!

This is such a lovely story. Miyako is one of those students who fade into the background. Her classmates don’t even know her name and she likes it that way. Miyako’s favourite pastime is to sneak out of her home at night and sit under the stars watching pet videos and if she doesn’t have friends at school then that’s fine.

Everything changes one evening when she bumps into one of the popular boys at school called Koga-Kun, although he isn’t who he usually is because at night the alien that resides in his body takes over and this alien is about to become Miyako’s BFF.

This first volume is really heartwarming as Miyako navigates school, the popular crowd, her alien friend and the popular Koga-Kun. The drawing is lovely with clear expressive graphics and the story is amusing. I enjoyed this first volume and I will look out for book two.
