This is a weird but lowkey fun to read. I loved the genuine friendship between Miyako and Chiro. It's fun following Miyako around and her analyzing whether she's interacting with Chiro or not. I would love to read the next volume!

This manga starts out with this shy girl who no one notices or even can get her name correct. One night one of the most popular guys comes to sit by her on the hillside and it turns out it was an alien who took over the boys body. The alien and the young girl strike up a friendship and it is so cute. He only takes over the boy's body at night, but then Koga-kun starts to notice and tries to fight back and doesn't know why she likes the "monster" who is taking over him. I know this is a new manga series that is coming out April 22, but I can not wait to read the second volume in the manga.

Thank you to Kodansha and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this manga to review!

Nighttime for Just Us Two is a strange, yet endearing story about an introverted girl named Miyako Nikaido. Nobody at school remembers her name and she largely goes unnoticed by people, but she does not mind this. Each night, she goes for a walk outside and watches cute videos on her phone, enjoying some alone time to herself. One day, she bumps into one of her classmates at night, Koga, and notices that he is sparkling. She finds out that her classmate's body is actually being taken over by an alien each night while he is asleep. The two strike a friendship and she gives the alien the nickname Chiro. Eventually Koga figures out what is happening to him and shenanigans ensue as the two of them try to navigate this strange friendship. While Miyako is friends with Chiro, she slowly becomes friends with Koga as well.

This manga was quite different from any story I have ever read, but it surprisingly did a great job story-wise? I thought it was super cute and could relate to Miyako and her introverted tendencies. Having a somewhat unusual name myself, I could relate to her school troubles related to her name. I am unsure what direction the story will be taking going forward, but I would definitely be interested to keep reading!

I received a copy of this manga through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

At first I was expecting something similar to the K-drama My Love From Another Star but in a Japanese high school. I got something even better - a very adorable and fun story about a most weirdest but cutest love triangle. I am intrigued about how this story will evolve in the future volumes!😊
Why are everyone except the main girl all light-haired?🤔

I haven't started a new shojo series in a while, but I'm so glad I restarted with this one. I was gushing throughout all the book for what was happening to Miyako, Koga and Chiro.

Miyako is a wallflower. Nobody at her high school can remember her name, and she spends her time alone watching cute dog videos. One night while she's out chilling, she finds her classmate Koga next to her... the only issue is that his personality is completely different to what she's used to. In fact Koga is not himself—this new personality of his belongs to an alien that Miyako nicknames Chiro. The friendships between the two blooms when they are alone, but when Koga becomes aware of what's going on with his body, he forces Miyako to help him find a solution about his "alien problem". Miyako can't tell him no and so the trio adventures begin.

The first thing that attracted me to this manga was the cover. But when I finally opened the manga, I fell for the graphics and the story too. I love how the three main characters have different personalities and how they clash with each other. Chiro is easy-going, Miyako is an introvert but when her relationship with Chiro is threatened, she won't lie down. On the other hand, Koga, the popular high-schooler, is more like a "thug" and won't hesitate to use Miyago to help him. I'm curious to see how their story continues.

Thank you so much to Kodansha Comics and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC; it is greatly appreciated.

This story moves very quickly, but it feels just right. This volume sets up the situation that will drive the plot forward. It's definitely more original than most high school scenarios, and I really appreciate it for that. The fact that it's a love triangle with technically only two people puts an interesting twist on things.

The art style suits the story well as both are cute and fluffy. I do wish there was a little more detail in the art, but that's just a personal preference and doesn't hinder the story in any way.

I do hope we get to see a bit more of the home life of the main girl. The message from the author at the end of this volume does state that volume two will be more about fleshing out the characters, and that's exactly what I'm wanting. I think this is a manga that I will continue to follow for now, because it's not everyday that you get to read a cute love story with aliens.

This one is very weird but also kind of captivating? I really want to know what happens to these two characters and their alien. I am also curious to know how the MMC feels about the FMC. There’s definitely some feelings there and I’m itching to know what they are!

The art style is cute and fun, as expected from the author of My Boy in Blue. Eccentric personalities are her speciality and I am excited to see how this one continues!

This was actually pretty good! It was so funny that I was grinning the whole time. It was also unique and far different from the typical school shoujo romance. I don't have an idea where the story would go from here but I am actually looking forward to know!

I kind of feel bad for the heroine because of how she was treated at their school. I think she's a nice girl who just wants to be seen and be a friend to another. On the other hand, I'm really curious about Koga, about what he's actually like. I won't spoil but I didn't expect him to have that side to him, but I think it's good to give his character more depth. I don't understand him yet but I sure want to know more about him. + Chiro-chan was really funny! He's so cute!!

I'm just really looking forward on what comes next!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.25
Steam Level: There's not much romance yet but I'm pretty sure this has fluff only <3

An introverted girl that goes unnoticeable gains a new friend but faces a weird situation with the popular guy in school.

This volume shows the weird encounter between Miyako and Shuichiro; though they went to the same middle school, they didn't really have a chance to be close until one night changes everything. They suddenly became friends and got close, but it's all because of an alien.

Can our characters hide the truth or will they be exposed?

This story is refreshing and not your usual type of twist. I enjoyed it and hope to read more chapters in the future! I can't wait for the next volume.

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the copy.

Nighttime for Just Us Two, Volume 1 by Maki Miyoshi is a delightful supernatural shojo manga that will appeal to fans of Fruits Basket or Meteor Prince. The story revolves around a short-haired girl who is unnoticed by everyone. No one can get her name right. One day, she encounters Koga-kun, one of the most popular boys in school, but now, he's smiling at her and insisting that he's an alien from another planet. Is he playing a prank on her, or is he really alien?

Overall, Nighttime for Just Us Two, Volume 1 is an adorable, supernatural shojo manga that will give you heartwarming feelings. One highlight of this book is the relationship between the two main leads. I liked the idea that the pair start off as strangers, and then due to unforeseen circumstances, they become friends and perhaps something more. Their two main leads reminded me a bit of Ouran High School Host Club, in which the female lead is also short-haired and the male lead is blond and popular. If you're intrigued by the description, or if you're a fan of shojo manga, I highly recommend that you check out this book when it comes out in April!

I was lucky enough to get a review copy of the first volume of this manga. The premise sounded like it would make for an entertaining and cute story, it delivered. The main character is a loner and basically a nobody who isn’t even visible enough for others to remember her name. One night while just sitting outside one of the popular boys, Kona-kun, in school approaches her and asks to be friends, as it turns out the boy says he is an alien. I don’t want to give too much away but it creates some compromising situations that the characters would normally not get into. Just from the first volume I found the characters enjoyable and unique, none of them are the same or similar but that is to be expected from a smaller cast but each of them have their quirks that give them a extra sparkle, sometimes literally in the panels. I did find that this first volume is shorter, only 4 chapters, I feel as though it could be a little longer since it isn’t over 200 pages. Overall, I’m invested in the characters and looking forward to see where the story takes them and I will eagerly await the next volume to come out. I recommend this especially for fans of cute, offbeat shoujo manga.

This manga is so adorable! The plot was so clever and original and the dynamic switch between the two Koga's is really entertaining. I love that our MC is being pulled out of her empty/unknown life in a way thats letting more of her personality come through. She deserves to be seen and respected and I can really foresee this entire exchange helping her grown in to a stronger person.

This is a series I can't wait to read more of. Its super fun and I love all 3 of our main characters.

This is such a quirky and fun shojo manga! It's a refreshing and unique story, and I'm excited to see where it goes next. Please consider bringing it to physical so I can circulate it that way in my library!

Nighttime for Just Us Two is the first manga in the new series by Maki Miyoshi. It follows the story of Miyako, a teenage girl so invisible in high school that no one remembers her name. She is terrible when it comes to interacting with people and prefers to wait for nightfall to go out and enjoy her solitude until sunrise. But one day, one of her peers appears where she fangirls over her favourite Shiba Inu. And not anyone but Koga-kun, the most famous boy at school! However, his behaviour is strange, and when Miya discovers that an alien takes over his body when the real Koga-kun is asleep, she is thrust into a world completely unknown to her—a world that shatters her own and forces her to push her limits.

I really enjoyed this manga! I found the plot super original (I think that was the first shojo I read with aliens included). The protagonists, Miya and Koga, are quite simple and not new, but Maki Miyoshi succeeds in developing their personalities quite well. At least in my eyes, it worked pretty well. The forced proximity between the two of them was interesting and I'd love to discover how the story unfolds through the next instalments.

I liked that, though Miya appears quite shy at first, she isn't the type to let people commit injustices. She fights for what she thinks is right and doesn't hesitate to put herself at risk to make up for her mistakes. She also isn't perfect and, like any teen girl of her age, she tries and makes wrong beginnings with some people. That eventually makes her grow very quickly.

I wasn't especially a fan of Koga-kun: he likes aliens but isn't eager to believe Miya when she reveals that his body is used by one. He needs video footage of himself (or rather, Chiro-kun, the alien) to understand that he has no memories of some things he does and relationships he starts and that what Miya-chan says is true. I was a bit annoyed by that at first, although I could fathom his irritability when he first acknowledges that he is kind of possessed without his will by an alien that came out of nowhere.

So yes, on the whole, I'd say that some points in this shojo are quite good, while others left me a bit bored. I think I would still recommend it to shojo lovers because the story remains interesting and the drawing style is truly beautiful!

Thank you so much Netgalley and Kodansha for the opportunity to review Nighttime for Just us Two! It was very nice!

⅘ stars
It starts off with us meeting our main character, no one knows her real name and she keeps to herself. However, while she is out one night she runs into "Koga" but is actually an alien who borrows his body when he sleeps and knows her name. As they are now friends, she also gives the alien Koga a nickname, Chiro since humans can't say his real name. She accidentally slips and calls Koga by Chiro and he starts to think there is something wrong with him.
Like:
-story has a little twist with our alien friend Chiro
-character development
- it was kinda weird we didn't get the mc's real name but honestly once it's said it made sense

At first I wasn't sure how I was going to like it but it did seem interesting from the description. I am glad I tried it out and looking forward to the second volume. It has not been mentioned how Chiro knew her name but I think Koga was paying more attention to her than she realizes. I think one part that was nice seeing was when our main character heard her correct name be called out. She usually is alone and just brushes it off when others don't know her name, but she learns how lonely it really is after meeting Chiro. She tries her best to help knowing it was going to have a negative impact to her. Chiro is light a ball of sunshine and so excited to learn about the human world. Then we have Koga who has a gap moe, he's quiet and nice around everyone else but people still gather around him.

Thank you to Kodansha for the opportunity to review this ARC.

Nighttime for Just Us Two, Volume 1 by Maki Miyoshi is a story about a girl, Nikaido, that feels like an outsider at school. No one remembers her name and she's invisible to everyone. On a night walk, she meets the popular guy from her class, Koga, but he presents himself as someone else... an alien that is exploring human life on earth. o.0

The first time I read the synopsis for this story I burst out laughing because... a shojo manga with an alien! Never heard about it before and sounds crazy enough that it's hard to not check it out!

I think this first volume was awesome! It was punchy and fast-paced and managed to show both Nikaido's loneliness, Koga's desperation, and Chiro-chan's happy attitude about living the human life. It was so funny!

I love how Chiro-chan (the alien) and Koga (the human) come across as two different people. Chiro-chan is bright, happy and an airhead and Koga is... well, right now he is scared and feels crazy because he wakes up somewhere else than his bed, and people talk to him about stuff he has done but doesn't remember. As a reader, you wonder along with him if he has a split personality? If not, how and why is he then a host for an alien?
This first volume brought up lots of questions I can't wait to get the answer to.

This was an interesting and quirky read about teens and how they can feel like they are a different species until they find that single one in the universe that understands them.
