Loved this story really relatable and beautifully written. about 3 friends Helen, Caro, Kay who are struggling careers ,relationships, children, elderly parents and all whilst being of a certain age!
They decide to go to Cyprus for a holiday to get away from their problems, only Caro has a special reason for being in Cyprus and Helen realises what she wants from her life and marriage.
I do hope there is a follow up story.
Would highly recommend.
Thanks to NetGalley & Hansson Publishing for a advanced copy.

This is a such classy novel. I have to admit that I first chose to read it because I mistakenly thought it was set in the tourist traps of Southern Cyprus (where I used to live); I also assumed that it would be a cosy middle aged Shirley Valentine style sun lounger read - but let me say I was so wrong. ‘A Midlife Holiday’ is set in Northern Cyprus (a completely different country and a totally different kettle of fish) and it is not strictly a comedy, but a beautifully written and true to life story of three friends and their all too relatable mid-life choices.
Cary Hansson has a very entertaining and accessible style of story telling and I was quite sorry when I came to the end of the book. I will certainly look out for any future novels from her.
Many thanks to all concerned for letting me read and review this terrific book.

A fun beachy read about a woman who finds freedom at 50. Delightful characters and lovely settings. This book would make a great movie.

A Midlife Holiday is one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read for some time. It’s the next genre for those of us who loved the chick lit boom of the late 1990s!
Focussing on 3 ladies hitting the big 5-0, we head off on a spontaneous holiday to Cyprus with Helen, Caro and Kay. All three are at pivotal points in their lives - having teenagers, elderly and infirm parents, a dull marriage, a successful career without love, childless. Most ladies of a certain age will identify with one of the lead characters.
Cyprus brings into sharp reality what’s missing in their lives. This is not all light-hearted, fluffy storylines. There’s some real angst, arguments and sad moments along the way.
I loved this book, and if I’m right, think we might get to see more of these ladies in the future. Their stories are not over yet!
Thanks to Netgalley and Cary J Hansson for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A Shirley Valentine type of book. Three 50 year old women go on holiday together, fortunately one of them was rich enough to pay for the trip for all them. Each has a different backstory which wasn’t staggeringly interesting, just ordinary people dealing with life.
It was all rather predictable, especially the ending. An ok holiday read but I don’t think it lived up to the hype.

This book was so cute! I loved the premise of a group of old friends, now 50 somethings, going on a trip together! I appreciated the personality differences between the 3 characters and loved the real life, old friend arguments! While the writing was simple and lacked the pull of not being able to put the book down, I still enjoyed it. This book will make a great summer or beach read and if you're at that "midlife" age, will be one that you'll appreciate!

I enjoyed this book.
3 friends turning 50 and looking at where they are in life and what has taken them to this point.
All are very different but great friends.
I really enjoyed this book I found it beliveable and not as lighthearted as I imagined.
Wonderfully written

3 women, lifelong friends, each dealing their own midlife events that they have kept from one another. One being the sandwich generation between with kid and aging parents, one feeding frustrated and alone while being married to a clueless happy adventurer, and one being single & childless, regretful about the childless part. All 3 come together on a holiday get away with a hidden motive. Can they reconnect, forgive one another, and support 1 another? No matter what? A wonderful story of friendships and relationships. I expected funny, comedy, humor in this book but I wasn't expecting touching, honest, affirming, life changing. The combination of all of that makes for a winning book.

3 friends hitting the big 50 birthday. Life choices as they all feel drained, physically and emotionally. A girls trip uncovers the difference and similarities.
Female bonding in the sun

I thought this was going to be a light read based on the cover art, however it actually has depth, layered like an onion. A few chapters in I thought mmm maybe I won’t enjoy it much since the characters are mostly 20 years older than me and are at different stages of life compared to myself. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to keep reading, in fact I would have finish this book over the weekend had I not been so tired in the past few nights (I think I probably spent 24 hours max on this). I am delighted to find another author that I enjoy.

Thank you NetGalley and the author for this story. This book was a enjoyable chick lit book. I enjoyed the story of the girls friendship and showing the layers of it over the years and no matter what these girls always have each other backs. Helen and Caro seem so different but so similar and Kay just balances everyone so nicely. I still can't believe she answered the phone. This book really made me what to see Cyprus.

I really enjoyed this book. Helen Winters has just turned 50. Her children are grown up and her husband is away climbing Everest. Suddenly she has a vision of her future and many regrets about the woman she has become and the life she could have lived. So when her 2 closest friends ask her to go on a holiday to Cyprus she jumps at the chance. This turns out to be a life changing week for the women. This is a well written, thought provoking book which will resonate with anyone who has ever felt they have lost sight of who they used to be. Thanks to NetGalley for a preview copy.
Copied to Goodreads.

This was a cute, fun read! I loved the different nuances of a different country. Thank you for this copy!

A Midlife Holiday is a cute story about three longtime friends who travel to Cyprus. Helen, who has just turned 50, joins friends Caro and Kay. All three friends have different reasons for making the trip. Adventure and tension both ensue. This book is sweet and relatable. I struggled a bit to get into it but ended up enjoying their friendship and the storyline. Thank you to NetGalley and Hansson Publishing for the ARC!

I found this book a light easy read and read it very quickly, no great storyline but one flowed through it and at the end you were still kinda waiting for something to happen…

Cary J. Hannson. A Midlife Holiday
Three friends who met at uni travel to Cyprus for a well-earned holiday and an escape from the trials and tribulations of everyday life. Just entering their fifties the three want to escape for a while from children, parents, work commitments and one husband. The three have totally different characters but this is probably the gel that holds them together. When you think that things cannot work after harsh words, forgiveness is a recognition that together they can face the differences that might separate them.
I enjoyed identifying with the three women although occasionally wanting to give any one of them a good shake. Personally I am tired of reading so much about menopause. It is a natural occurrence, not an illness but that apart I enjoyed this book and the memories it brought back of trips to Cyprus, the heat, the sun and the romance (although with my own husband).
I found this a light, pleasant read, ideal for that beach holiday in the sun.

I honestly picked this title up thinking it would be a comical story, but it was anything but. It covered some very serious topics.
It’s about 3 friends who’ve known each other since university, and end up on holiday together at the age of 50. One friend, Helen, is the stay at home mom turned medical office worker who has a bit of a crisis when she turns 50. Kay is a single mom to a special needs son whose marriage ended as a result of her focus on her son; she was the smart one and life seems to have thrown her one curveball after another. Caro Is the successful friend who gave up everything including her marriage and opportunity to be a mother to fuel her incredible career. The story emphasizes how people grow apart and hide the worst parts of themselves as they get older. It also highlighted the challenges of living any of these scenarios and reflecting on them as 50 year old women.
I’ll be honest and say that I kept waiting for the story to get better and for some thing really good to happen, but it never came. If anything, being in my40’s, this book made me wonder if life gets way worse in the next decade. I think the story line was a decent one, but in the end the execution just took away from it. #indigoemployee

A Midlife Holiday By Cary J Hanson
Helen is just about to turn fifty and her life amounts to finishing her day as a doctor’s receptionist, going to Asda for milk then home to watch Poirot on tv and drink a bottle of Chablis whilst her husband is off climbing Everest! She meets her best friends for lunch to celebrate her fiftieth all hope dies when her best friend, since university, gives her a cheese melter! Helen has hysterical laughter/tears as her life is travelling at speed down the drain. Caro trying to make amends invites Helen and Kay to join her on holiday for a week in Cyprus as her treat. Follow them to discover if their friendship will last and become what it once was as they all have their own form of midlife crisis.
Follow the laughter tears at the odd point hysteria on their journey and the characters they encounter.
Love the book once started couldn’t put down. So true to life. A much deserved

Testing friendships which go back years, Helen goes to Cyprus with 2 old friends for a relaxing break, but there is another reason for the trip. Friendships are truly tested, and truths come out. I look forward to the next in the series.
