TW CANCER

this was so good and it kept me hooked throughout. it follows hannah who is misdialled by davey who lives in texas but is moving to london. after many calls and video chats, they both start to develop feelings for each other.

the day finally comes when davey is due to arrive in london where hannah awaits him at the airport arrivals. but davey never shows up.

this book is very well written and flows very easily. it does discuss heavy topics such as cancer and slightly toxic relationships, but it also includes such lovely found family relationships and the best friendships. overall, i’d highly recommend reading this but go in with warnings!!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
The blurb for this book tells us exactly what's going to happen at the start: the misdial creating an opportunity to carry on chatting until Davey is due to move to the UK and Hannah prepares to meet him at the airport. I thought the author created a lovely atmosphere of the warmth between them, and the excitement as he was due to arrive. The blurb says he didn't turn up, and it's all about what fate has in store. Davey and Hannah's stories separate with the possibility of coming together again and I won't spoil anything by revealing the end of the book but ... Each character is described very well, and I couldn't help wondering why Hannah settled for George when he only seemed to want to change her, but the final few pages had my heart racing and my fingers crossed! This is a gorgeous romance which has elements of credibility, including illness, I've signed up to following this author because I enjoyed this novel so much.

This book had been sat on my netgalley shelf for so long and I really don’t know why I didn’t pick it up sooner.
I wasn’t expecting to love this book as much as I did but there was just something about it that made me fall in love with the characters and the story straight away. I was completely invested and wanted to know what was going to happen next.
I went from crying to laughing to being angry and shouting at the characters all in the space of a few chapters.
I thought this was going to be a light easy romance but it was so much more than that and I highly recommend 🥰!

Easy 4.5 stars

This is such an important story to tell and I really liked it. I was completely caught off guard by the cancer diagnosis. The chemistry between Davey and Hannah was just top tier. The only reason this didn’t get a 5 star review was due to at times the love story getting overshadowed by the cancer plot. The theme of love and hope throughout was wonderful to see through the story.

Will-they-wont-they is absolutely my thing and I enjoyed this book, easy to get lost in and I read it in just a couple of sittings.

This was a lighthearted rom-com, which stretched the believability at times, but for a pageturning, holiday read, it is definitely worth picking up at the airport.

Thank you to netgalley for the opportunity to review this book.

A quick, lighthearted read, perfect for a bit of escapism. I didn’t connect completely with the characters and it was a bit far fetched in places, but overall an enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed this read, I was looking for a lighthearted easy read and this had a sudden gravitas that I actually enjoyed. The premise was something new, when Hannah & Davey end up 'meeting' through a call to a wrong number. I really liked the characters, apart from George, but I think that's how it should be for the story (he's the classical boy who wants to change you!) In places it was far-fetched but overall I loved the story and read it really quickly.

A wrong number changes everything for Hannah and from then on it’s as if she’s on some crazy fairground ride. She’s not the only one! I loved this novel, how it was written and it was so easy to get into. Sadly it was let down by the ending which at the very least deserved a decent chapter, not what we were given. Far too much of one character and not nearly enough of another. Why does one of the main characters not get much of a voice? He should have been allowed as much as Hannah! I liked her despite her doormat tendencies. There might be triggers for some people but if not then it’s a great story to get your teeth into.

Elle Cook's The Man I Never Met is an emotional rollercoaster. Hannah lives in London, and one day receives a call from a stranger. Davey lives in Texas, and thought he was calling for an interview when he meets Hannah over the phone.

This is a delightful spin on the meet-cute, will-they-won't-they, long-distance romance. I was rooting for their relationship but honestly really appreciated the cathartic cry that this book provided.

All in all, even though the title makes it clear that these two characters won't meet, I really didn't know what was going to happen and I truly thought there was hope. It was a delight to read, and I read it cover-to-cover in one sitting.

I absolutely adored the writing style of this book! This book gave me all the butterflies that a rom com is supposed to. I’d definitely recommend this book to others. Hannah & Dave’y are so cute!

This is a romance with a storyline that’s not the usual
In this genre and I didn’t know how it was all going to turn out in the end.
It follows Hannah a single woman living in London gets a call from American Dave’s by mistake but this leads to more for both of them over the next couple of months.
The story then takes an unexpected turn and I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I will just say it’s an addictive read which put me through the wringer.
Every emotion was felt throughout my reading of this book and I love her historical fiction novels so I knew this was going to be a great story.
A romance with a lot of depth and a page turner in my opinion.

Cook is just over here, trying to break my heart with this! If you read the Flatshare and loved it, you'll likely love this, don't go into it expecting a lot of laughs though, it's gut wrenching at times.

This was a decent romance with exactly the sort of story I enjoy: Hannah answers the phone to Davey, who was trying to dial for a job interview but called Hannah by mistake. She politely wishes him luck, and when he gets the job, he texts her to let her know.

If you like romance plots about characters who are seemingly destined to be together because the circumstances of their relationship seem like fate, you'll love this one! Added bonus - it's ACTUALLY romantic.

I absolutely loved the premise of this, as a die hard You've Got Mail fan. I loved the idea of messaging and getting to know someone with no real idea as to who you're speaking with.

While we spend a lot of time with Hannah, I would have liked to see a little more from Davey and get more of a background on him and his life, especially with his cancer diagnosis. For this reason, I felt the writing style was a little unbalanced and didn't always work for me.

It deals with a tougher topic than I was expecting as I first went in, and I appreciated how it was written and dealt with.
