A cute but heartwrenching story of two strangers who become acquainted due to a misdialled phone call.
Hannah is a twenty-something woman living in London, drifting through her life.
Until she answers a call from an unknown international number.
Davey. A twenty-something Texan who is making some change in his life.
The first quarter of the story sets you up for the romance of the century before a twist - a horrible twist - puts paid to any romantic notions they may have had.
As the title suggests, love was never going to be an easy destination for these two to reach.
I really loved the two main characters, Hannah and Davey.
They are supported by a wonderful set of sie characters; Joan, Hannah's coffee-loving neighbour who features in her life as what she describes as her 'London Mum', Miranda and Paul, Hannah's best friend and her boyfriend. Grant, Davey's best friend, and we can't forget George, Hannah's gym buddy, turned something else.
The story is told mainly from the viewpoint of Hannah, but with some POV scenes from Davey's side.
Moral of the story: You never know what is going to happen next in life, so you should just grab happiness when it is staring you in the face!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House UK, Cornerstone and Penguin for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! Definitely one of my favourite reads so far this year. Didn’t expect the BAM! moment before the main characters were due to meet but kept reading and wow I am so glad I did! I would highly recommend this and will be reading it again very soon! Make sure you read it, I’m sure you’ll love it!
Thanks to Netgalley for an advanced copy.

A Five-star read that will have you dreaming of that special meet-cute. This was a great story, it was a little predictable and unreal at times, but honestly the whole story swept me up and took me on its journey. I will admit that one of those moments was how quickly the friendship developed to more, especially when they were so far away and with the time difference, but then you get swept along and it no longer matters. There were parts of this story that broke my heart, the way Davey retreats as you are just getting your heart a flutter, but the more you read the more you understand him, that was so well done. Hannah was one that I loved, but I did want to tell her to shake her head, but then I felt for her so much. Do your self a favour and pick up this great story and allow it to sweep you up and take you on a journey of love.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book.

The title should have given away that it was going to break my heart, but I got lulled into a false sense of security, loving reading the story, watching a relationship develop. Then BAM.
However my heart was rebuilt again and I scrolled faster and faster as I got to the end.

Loved it. Can't wait to read more by this author.

I adored this book from start to finish!

When strangers become friends to lovers is a trope i don't read often but this one was perfect!
I love the idea of meeting your potential soul mate through a wrong number and Hannah and Davey were just so sweet together!

The book tackles some difficult subjects and I found my own heart wanting to break for them both. How relatable was this book that life really doesn't always go the way you planned!

The POVs from both Hannah and Davey made this so much more emotional. I felt all of the anguish, pain and sorrow they went through. I was really rooting for these two!

A beautiful love story of two people who were always meant to be.
It just goes to show, it doesn't matter how far apart you think you might be, love will find a way!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I read the majority of this book last night in one sitting because the flow of the book was relaxing and easy. It did strangers to lovers really well however wasn't the completely easy read that I was expected which I liked.

Hannah was a fantastic narrator and I really enjoyed her development throughout and thought her relationships with her friends and family were just as warming as her interactions with Davey. While there was an occasional POV from Davey's perspective, it came on quite late in the book and I think I would have preferred something from his POV a bit earlier on, but nonetheless it was enjoyable. I also feel it was a bit hard to differentiate the two POVs at times as their stream of consciousness were quite similar and I would have preferred more distinctive voices, but this is just a tiny facet in what was a really lovely book.

I will definitely be looking out for future novels from Elle Cook!

When Hannah receives a phone call from Davey it is a wrong number and she thinks nothing of it. However they start an unlikely friendship with Davey living in Texas and Hannah living in London.

When Hannah arrives at the airport to pick Davey up he doesn’t arrive. It seems like he has dropped off the face of the earth. But when we discover Davey’s secret your heart breaks for them both.

Will they ever get a chance to start their love story?

This was the first time I have read anything by Elle Cook and would certainly pick up something else.

The Man I Never Met comes out 24th Nov 2022!

I adored this book. It’s the perfect representation of strangers to lovers in such a unique way. The story itself was gut-wrenching and I found it hard to put down. The characters of Davey and Hannah developed massively over the course of the book and it was such a joy to watch their stories unfold as the pages went on. Both characters had such a likeability about them and parts of their personalities and stories are so relatable to us the readers. I liked that we got to know the character of Davey through Hannah and watched through her eyes as the relationship progressed.

Elle Cook’s writing was easy to follow and enjoyable to read. One thing I really loved was being able to see the relationships between the character’s friends, as not only is this story about romantic love but really highlights their relationships with their friends and family in a way that was so lovely to read. The book tackled some difficult themes but highlighted them in such a realistic and heart-wrenching way. After reading the acknowledgements and seeing what this story stemmed for makes it even more real.

I would definitely pick up another book by Elle as this one was such a delight to read.

A quick, easy, cute and thought provoking read that i devoured in almost one sitting. It is a very easy book to read and would have been easy to put down and pick up later as the flow was good - I just didn't want to because I had to know what happened.

Wheezing over this book 🥺

Thank you NetGalley and CornerStone for this e-ARC 💗

I just realized that this book deserves its own praise. Even tho it does not publish yet during I'm typing this. For once, I think this is by far one of the finest books for strangers to lovers trope. Whoever has thought incoming wrong number can tie up two-person from miles away? This book is more than that and the storyline squeezed my heart until the end.

No kidding - The chemistry between them is so unshakeable. It was so fast-paced like in a blink of an eye, I hardly believe that the development between Hannah and Davey was so ..... speedy? I mean, I'm not even 30% of the book yet but their friendship elevated to a relationship (no this is not a spoiler) T.T For me, it was silly at the beginning can to just believe in strangers? I mean whoever has thought that misdialed can be a thing?

Davey wasn't showing up when Hannah was supposed to meet him for the first time at the airport. Seriously I thought she has been dumped. But yikes - I was totally wrong and I feel guilty about my assumption do 😭 It was more than that. Something happens to him that makes me 💦HYPERVENTING💦 by just knowing it. Ugh that came the PLOT TWIST. I could not believe that happen to him 😭 OH GOSH! Maybe I'm too overreacting.

So because of Davey's unforeseen circumstance, he pushed Hannah away. It was heartbreaking 💔 Seeing that separation makes me feel that Hannah deserved to be treated fair and Davey should be living his life better. Those two love each other but the timing sucks. I keep on swiping onto my kindle because I was yearning to know what will be the stop for Hannah and Davey. The ending was so bittersweet 😭🥰

This book is about many things that I can't summarize in this lengthy post. It is mainly about love for strangers, detachment, and second chances. If this book is out soon, consider putting this on your list. For some reason, I can feel it can be a tear-jerker for a romance lover (oh well, I do tear a bit) and you will find that life is so unfair and brutal.

The reason I minus 1 star is because, during the 40%-55%++ of the story, I feel it is kinda draggy during the separation part. But probably the author wants the moment to be that way. I appreciate and highly recommended this book because of the unexpected plot twist, and the characters are so pleasant! 🥰

Bonus: You get both character's POVs <3

I really enjoyed this book and devoured it within a few days. The plot was a bit predictable but nonetheless I enjoyed it. The two main characters especially Hannah were loveable and relatable. I loved Davey but wish we would have seen more of him and got to know him a bit better before the major plot started. I love long distance romances that start with the characters not meeting and just talking over the phone. It's really refreshing when in this day and age everything is so instant and not exciting. I liked getting to know Davey through Hannah and watching them discover each other over the phone and through videocalls. The authors writing is easy to follow and keeps you intrigued with each chapter. I'll read anymore romances this author writes. .

This was a moving and thoughtful but easygoing read about chance friendships and falling in love from a distance. Told primarily from the viewpoint of Hannah who is just cruising through her life but with occasional input from Texan Davey who is struggling with a life changing event this is a warm read with a strong storyline at its core and two great main characters and their brilliant friends, overall this is a great character read.
