This is a fast-paced YA fantasy about Solace, a teenager with the ability to divine for water in a land where water sources are controlled by a sadistic ruler, and Rhees a librarian and rebellions leader who kidnaps her.
The world-building was rich and the story was driven by high-stakes action, but the character development was left a bit unsupported and I struggled to connect with them, and so the romance arc between Solace and Rhees felt a bit forced. Unfortunately the early chapters utilised one of my pet-peeves: having characters deliberately and openly withholding information from the protagonist. It irritates and frustrates me, and that skewed the lens through which I read the rest of the book.
There should be a content warning for frequent allusion to sexual assault and a graphic attempt.

With some books you know from page one if you will like them or not. others they grow on you as the book pans out. This was one of those books.... that i knew from page one i would like. well written and i loved every moment of it. side note when i read from female authors i try read books that have the right amount of romance. not to heavy but just the right amount combined with action. both sexes can read this. I highly recommend it when it comes out on its due date. I will be looking for more works from this author. 5 stars being exceptional. and my overal rating.
