Really useful little guide to outdoor sketching. I will use this with my students for sure.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance copy in exchange for my honest feedback.

I loved this book, it’s brilliant. I’ve recently got into drawing and thought this was great. Lovely illustrations, great advice and tips.

Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.

I wouldn’t describe this as a guidebook to sketching, more like a rambling wannabe self help book that doesn’t seem to be able to decide what it is. The first few chapters are the author rambling about why they like drawing, then there are some chapters where they say drawing is all about trying to translate what you’re seeing onto paper (really, you don’t say) and that it’s all about perspective. To be fair to the author it does say at the beginning of the book not to expect any help with sketching, and the book lived up to that as it is more of a personal journal of the authors experiences with sketching and better fitted to a blog post
