I started this book with optimism. I loved the idea of ‘being a triangle’ with a solid foundation as support and was looking forward to how Lilly would expand on this idea in the book.

However, the book felt a little thin on the ground to me. There are some nice ideas here and Lilly comes across as very approachable and authentic, but there is no depth. I wanted more but as I read on I realised I wasn’t going to get it. Which is a shame because the first chapter really resonated with me. I’m not saying this book isn’t worth reading because it is entertaining and has some nice ideas in it but there is nothing new here; treat it more as a light, entertaining, Saturday afternoon read rather than an informative, potentially life changing self help book.

With thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for providing an advance review copy of the book. All opinions are my own.

I loved every single page of "be a triangle"! This book is pure inspiration and I already know that I will look into it over and over again, to read several passages until I know them by heart. Lilly Singh is so authentic and fun that you want to be beside her on this journey to herself/yourself. Some ideas here might not be new, but we keep forgetting to take care of ourselves in the daily routine, so this is a refreshing reminder. The triangle though, was new to me and I now have one on my desk, to remind me to be one. Thank you for this book!

Lilly did not disappoint.
Although I liked her 'previous book better than this, it was a short, quick on-to-the-point book too.
I read this book at the right time in my life, so that's one more reason why I loved this.

What the hell was this?
Nothing special - just the usual waffle. Nothing original, nothing special.
So disappointing!

Didn't get anything from this book at all - waste of time!

I remembered watching Lilly Singh’s videos on Youtube when I was scrolling mindlessly and I got hooked on her videos ever since. Her videos are very real and very funny and I can see that reflected in her book. I was most intrigued by her title, like how does one be a triangle? And of all the shapes, why a triangle?
In this book, Lilly shows us how we can learn to create a sense of peace within ourselves and how we should face our obstacles head on. She tells us to be a ‘triangle’ where we should create a solid foundation for our lives and slowly build on it so that we can have a strong foundation to look back on when we are led astray. It really comes down to three things: practicing self-love, integrate meditation into our daily lives and live with gratitude.
I love that Lilly doesn’t sugarcoat her struggles and was open with her readers about her personal struggles with her identity and success. She touches briefly on mindfulness and how to build a solid foundation for yourself but I wished she had elaborated some points a little more as I’ve already read a few books previously that touches on these topics. I feel this book would be perfect for readers who are new to self-help.
According to GR reviews, the book has some beautiful illustrations in them but I didn’t get to see any in my copy because it’s an arc which is a shame. I will check it out again when I come across the physical copy. Her writing is very simple and it feels more like she is having a conversation with us so I still enjoyed reading this overall.
Thank you Netgalley and PanMacmillan for the arc.

This is an interesting concept, but not much more. Introduces some ideas but felt to me to be more of an introduction rather than a fully fledged and convincing concept. I am definitely left feeling that I wanted more.
