This book was definitely a mixed one for me. The opening was very engaging and the premise of the story was very original. The dual timelines were handled mostly well and made the different events quite easy to follow. The main confusion happened with the sheer amount of characters. Obviously with a psychological thriller involving an unsolved murder or disappearance, you're going to need a few suspects to avoid readers from guessing the ending, but in my opinion the sheer number here made the story unnecessary convoluted. Overall, a decent read but not one that blew me away.

Another fantastic read from Andrea Mara. I enjoyed the dual timelines throughout the book.
A story of many twists and turns. Dark secrets and surprises revealed in every chapter. This really had me guessing until the very end. And what an ending it was. I had to read back over the final lines to see if I had read that correctly!
You will not be able to put this book down. The characters and their actions will leave you shocked to some and empathetic to others.

A 5 star from me.

I'm looking forward to Mara's next release.

Another great 5⭐️ book from Andrea Mara. A great what happened mystery. From the start I was hooked and knew I was going to enjoy this one. Flipping between 2018 and 1985 giving the back story of the characters involved.
Andrea Mara is now one of those authors I will continue to look out for and read her books without reading the blurb first.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this one

This book was an enjoyable twisty thriller set in a very relatable mature Dublin suburb. The characters were interconnected over generations giving the sense of claustrophobia needed to keep the suspense high. The story was a little repetitive at times but the twists kept me reading, though could have been condensed a little. Over all a good beach read.

What would you do if you move into a lovely new home in a good neighborhood, only to find out that a young girl who disappeared years ago used to live in this house?
This is what happens to Joanna when she's out playing hide and seek with her daughter Sophie in their front garden. Sophie suddenly disappears and Joanna is unable to find her. Then she is called over by the next-door neighbor Fran to say she found a little girl hiding in her garden. This is how she finds out about
Lily Murphy, a three-year-old Irish girl who disappeared 33 years ago on Monday the 1st of July 1985.
An eerie similarity! They were playing the same game, her daughter is the same age and they both live in the same house. The only good outcome was she found her daughter immediately but Lily was never found.
BUT this is not where it ends. When Joanna looks at a photo of Lily she seems strangely familiar and soon Joannes's past is starting to come back. a Past that she's been hiding from everyone; a past that she's trying to forget about and that she tried to bury but it is a past that is not willing to stay quiet. What happened to Lilly Murphy and who is Joanna really?

Another awesome read by Andrea Mara and a story that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Random House, Transworld for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion

I really enjoyed this tale of an unsolved missing child mystery that has plagued a community for over 30 years.

The dual timeline between 1985 and 2018 really helped to keep the pace of the story going, as the 1985 events slowly revealed things that made more sense of the 2018 events (or helped us view them in a different light). I liked the way we gradually found out about all of the connections between the characters and every one of them had some sort of secret to reveal.

This was my first Andrea Mara and it will not be my last.

'Secrets are bad for the soul, but some truths are too much.'

Joanna and Mark Steadman have recently moved into their new home in the wealthy suburb of Rowanbrook in Dublin with their three children, and Joanna believes they've found their forever home. Whilst playing in the garden with her youngest daughter Sophie, she starts chatting to her neighbour and discovers that thirty years ago this was the home of three year old Lily Murphy, who disappeared playing a game of hide and seek and has never been found. This unsettles Joanna, who decides to befriend the people in her local area to try and unearth the mystery of Lily's disappearance, but she uncovers far more than she bargained for when she realises this could be linked to her own past, a past that she's been determined to keep a secret...

Hide and Seek is a dual timeline story, told from Joanna's perspective, flipping seamlessly between 1985 and 2018, it's a fast paced read that drew me in from that very first page and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. The plot is complex and unique, the characters are realistic and interesting and the twists, when they come, are completely unexpected, and what an ending! I was intrigued to find out what Joanna's secret was and why she was convinced she was linked to Lily in some way, but she wasn't the only one to have secrets, although one of two were kept with good intention. This is the first I've read by Mara but it definitely won't be the last, she certainly knows how to spin a great tale! If you love an edge of your seat thriller that keeps you guessing throughout, Hide and Seek is one for you.

I'd like to thank Random House UK, Transworld Publishers and Netgalley for the approval, I will post my review on Amazon and Goodreads.

A cleverly woven tale of a mother’s worst nightmare come true.

When Andrea was a guest on my radio show All About Books last year, she teased the premise for this book and I instantly wanted to know more. A child goes missing during a game of Hide and Seek. An accident? Foul play? Who knows..

Like All Her Fault this is another great domestic suspense thriller that will keep you guessing right up to the end. And like that story this latest novel also goes deeper, exploring a small community and asking the reader to consider the expectations we place on women and mothers and the pressure to present a perfect home and family life.

With short chapters, and a story that moves across two timelines, you’ll be hooked from the start.

Hide and Seek is out now. My thanks to Penguin Books and NetGalley for my copy. This is, as always, an honest review.

Another great book from Andrea. Gripping tale of a child missing for over 30 years. So much intrigue and possible storylines and what can happen from a simple game of hide and seek.

This is my first book by this author and I loved it!
It was gripping and I honestly couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait for the next book!

The author has had a plot which she has developed exceptionally well. Everything written in the book is relevant and elements you may wonder about will have either a resolution or a reason to be in the story. It’s a great start which drew me in but despite the careful attention to detail or maybe because of it I lost some of my interest somewhat around the middle section. I did want to know what happened though and glad I carried on because the ending was as good as the start.
Quite a quick read and what I would class as a good holiday book.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #Transworld Digital for my advance copy of #HideAndSeek by #AndreaMara
When Joanna move into their forever home she doesn’t realise how much her life is going to change.
When she sees a picture of a young child who used to live in the house and who disappeared in strange circumstances her mind won’t let go of the fact that all this is something to do with her !!!!
The pace builds slowly and builds and builds to the fantastic end.
What a great read.

This book kept me up til late at night.
A simple game of hide and seek turns out to be the last time Lily Murphy is seen.
Years later Joanna moves into a house that was the home of little Lily Murphy..
When Joanna starts to look into the community there are twists and turns everywhere.

I loved the way Joanna was portrayed, it was easy to connect with her; making the book/story come alive
The author has written it in a way where the pace is just right making you keep reading.
To me, Andrea Mara is a definite author to watch.

If you want a really good thriller, get this.
You won't be sorry
