This is a fast paced and entertaining thriller. I didn’t like the characters in the book. The characters make some completely stupid mistakes.

This was an entertaining read on so many levels. I enjoyed the book and will most probably read more in future.

On the surface, Sophie O'Neill has it all: a handsome, successful husband, a nice house, and a son she adores. But she's bored of her small provincial life following their move from Chicago, and restless in her domestic role.

When Sophie meets Margot Banks, the town's glittering socialite, she is quickly drawn under her spell. Margot and her friends call themselves "the hunting wives", and claim to like target practice and drinking. But what they're hunting is men, men who aren't their husbands, men who can give them the sexual release they crave.

But when a teenage boy is found dead, it seems that one of the wives may be a cold blooded killer...

Full of characters you will love to hate, this as a fun, twisty, fast-paced thriller. I liked the unique premise, and thought the plot was well managed. Would definitely recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley, and to the publisher, who granted me a free ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I'd seen so many mixed reviews of The Hunting Wives, and now I know why. Unfortunately, I didn't love this one. Taken at face value, it was an okay book. It was a very quick and easy read which is always a positive. The story was alright, it held my attention but there wasn't anything super shocking. The beginning was intriguing and the ending wasn't too bad but the middle dragged a lot.

The characters though, oh wow.
It's been a while since I disliked a main character as much as I disliked Sophie. She was whiney and desperate. A pitiful character in a pathetic way. I've read books before that has a lonely, unloved housewife struggling in suburbia and you do feel sorry for them. But Sophie? She had an adoring husband, a good, stable friend, a nice job blogging, an adorable son. And she puts all of this in jeopardy for no real reason other than her nice life isn't good enough? She needs more glamour? She's bored? The Hunting Wives, as a group, were toxic but she needed to be part of it? I don't understand it, and more than once I was yelling at Sophie through the screen. None of the characters were likeable expect Graham. He was a jem and honestly, deserved better than his wife.

I did want to like this one, and hoped all the so-so reviews were wrong but this just wasn't one for me. It had good promise but, unfortunately, I wasn't a fan!

Well, I am not over-excited about this book. It gave me The Real Housewives vibes with all its soap opera elements.

Sophie moved with her little family to a small town in Texas. She should be happy. She has a loving husband, a cute son and a good life. But Sophie is the kind of woman who keeps asking herself if she misses something out. She soon develops a huge crush on the alpha woman in the community: Margot Banks. Margot is beautiful, rich and glamorous but also reckless and mean. Somehow Sophie manages to get on Margot’s radar and she is over the moon when she is invited into Margot’s inner circle. She and a few other women meet up once a week to shoot guns and drink. And sometimes they go out partying and seeking out even more fun. Mostly with men. Sophie is intrigued by their lifestyle and she begins to lie to her husband where she is going and what is really going on when the women meet. Then a local girl turns up dead and Sophie finds herself tangled in dark secrets.

I have not much to say about this book. It kept me entertained enough to keep reading but the story was too trivial for my taste. I disliked Sophie very much and I never understood what she saw in Margot. Sophie is fickle and has no problems to lie to her husband. I got irritated by her hovering between what she knows is the thing to do and her childish wish to please Margot. Margot herself is a narcissist and I found her behavior repulsive. I was never really engrossed in the story and I was only mildly interested who killed the girl.

I am getting a bit worked up lately when the main character in a book, in this case Sophie, acts stupid and outright ridiculous. I have no patience for this anymore and it can really ruin a book for me. Unfortunately this happened here. I am also not the right reader for this kind of juicy stories. This was not the right book for me and I can only give it 2 stars.

Sophie is a new arrival in town. She becomes fixated on a rich woman, Margot, and becomes part of her shooting club and social circle. The club is a cover for picking up men, and soon Sophie keeps secrets.
With a lot of group tensions, when a young girl is murdered, no-one knows who to blame.
Brilliant book, kept me guessing until the end. Excellent plot and characters.

I was not sure what to expect from The Hunting Wives but the description intrigued me so I was looking forward to it. It had plenty of twists and turns that kept me reading and it was a good solid read.

This book was one of my most anticipated reads and I had high expectations for it. And thankfully I was not disappointed, even thought this was not what I thought it would be, that didn't spoil my enjoyment whatsoever.
I love a thriller/mystery that has small town, rich people drama about obsession and desires and this one really sucked me in. I loved the vibe of this book!
With good writing, pacing and short chapters this was an easy read that I flew through.
I found the character of Margot to be very intriguing, fascinating and unpredictable which really drew me in to the story.
This was a really enjoyable, fun time and I would definitely read from this author again!

This book is a difficult read, akin to shouting at the TV when a character in a horror film goes upstairs to see what the creepy noise is. Sophie is awful and it's hard to buy that we're supposed to feel a flighty mother justifies the huge mess she makes! That said I have read a lot of "housewife investigates a local murder" books and at least in this one it's not endless running into neighbours on trips to buy groceries, catty school gate conversations and staring suspiciously over the garden fence.

A chilling tale of desire to fit in and be part of the in crowd. Not the easiest book to read but plenty of twists to keep you going.

One of my favorite recent reads! A Chicago transplant turns her life around in a Texan suburb while becoming embroiled in an all-women cult that challenges her family life.

I was so excited for this book to come out. I didn't get to read her first one but I will be doing so. This book was amazing! I loved all the twists and turns it had. I loved the writing style as well. It gave me Desperate Housewives vibes, which I loved that show so I was fine with that. Such a good read!

Loved the book and found the storyline original. I disliked the main character but that just shows how good the writing was as I still give it 4 stars.
Something I really disliked and for which I deducted a star was the underage sex or rather sex with minors

It took me a while to get into this book but once I did, I was hooked!! It was pretty non stop, quite manic with so much going on and mainly great characters (although Sophie’s husband was a bit of a drip!) a definite one to read this summer with a cocktail or two! Enjoy!
Thanks for Netgalley for an advanced copy of this x

I finished this book but I didn't like it. It seems as if the plot has been passed over briefly and it has relied on the shock/thrill factor (adultery, predatory females, insincere friendships, bullying, alcoholism, drink driving with children in cars, betrayal........) I can see why other readers might enjoy this escapism but this one wasn't one for me, but that's the beauty of reading!
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the e- advance review copy.

'I put a spell on you' .. is certainly true of the effect wealthy Margot Banks has on Sophie O'Neill who becomes fixated and obsessed with Margot. They meet at a party where Sophie is introduced to The Hunting Wives, a secret shooting club ( and a whole bunch else) where they blow off steam. Although Sophie is very happy with her lovely husband Graham and edibly cute son Jack, why isn't that enough? This is definitely a case of be careful what you wish for and one thing is for certain Sophie should have looked before she leaps so eagerly into this nest of vipers. She gets way more excitement than she bargains for. Interested? Then sit back and 'watch' the highly entertaining train wreck.

Bitchery, witchery and flattery. Flirty, dirty (blushes!), teasy and extreme jealousy. Sassy women or crazy cauldron stirrers? This is a tale of ruthlessness and tortured relationships, a sordid saga of madness where a red light means danger. It's chilling, shameless, shameful, a whole heap of lies with guilt as its bedfellow, it starts as fun but lines are well and truly crossed. Margot and her crew are truly dreadful, selfish and self centred harpies and totally unlikeable and you want to scream at the top of your lungs at Sophie to get out of Dodge before the self destruct button implodes her life. The author portrays these characters so well that you can visualise them easily along all their appalling antics, I'll bet she had great fun creating them! I like the way the novel is written, it's well plotted and fast paced and delicious reading even if what unfolds is a ghastly nightmare with weird overtones from time to time. Sophie drives you mad as she keeps walking blindly into trouble, getting herself into deeper and deeper doo-doo. Th ending is tense, dark, exciting and yes, I definitely didn't see that coming! This would make such a good movie or mini series - count me in!

If you like mayhem, madness, menace, manipulation, machinations and murder, if you like a plot that is gloriously OTT then this is for you!

Ps. The alcohol!!! They drink enough to sink a battleship, how to they even stay upright never mind conscious???!!!!

With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Orion for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.
