Mystery and suspense aplenty in this one. I have read other books from the author and enjoyed them and this one doesn't disappoint.

Quarter To Midnight is the first book in the New Orleans series.

Rocky Herbert is found dead after an apparent suicide, but his son chef Gabriel Herbert refuses to believe this and goes to see friend Burke who runs a private investigative service for people who couldn't find justice elsewhere. Burke assigns Molly Sutton to the case.

While Molly and Gabe are working to find the killer they realise that his dad's investigation was botched by his former Captain. Gabe knows his dad had stumbled upon a truth that someone wants silenced.

This story has it all, mystery, suspense, murder, cover ups and romance.

A thrilling roller coaster of a ride with plenty of twists. This is one book you will not want to put down.

Having read other Karen Rose series, I had high hopes for this one and she did not disappoint. With relatable characters and multiple twists and turns, it was a captivating read. I enjoyed that the main badass character was a female, with Molly showing that women are just as capable as men.

Thoroughly looking forward to the next book.

Completed reading this romantic suspense story and was introduced to Burke and Molly and the rest of the private investigations team, found these characters all likeable and would read any further books that include them. I personally prefer the suspense and thriller side of the story than the romance however. The story twists and turns all the way through and keeps you guessing right to the end as to the identities of the criminals and what they would do next.

Karen Rose is the Queen of romantic suspense and her latest offering is another fantastic instalment, this time set in New Orleans. I can't wait for the rest of this atmospheric series.

"Quarter to Midnight" by Karen Rose is an absolute must-read for fans of suspenseful thrillers. From the very first page, I felt like I was coming home and this even with all the new characters, even as the stakes continued to get higher and the body count began to rise. The tension never lets up, and I found myself on the edge of my seat as I read, never quite sure who would survive until the very end. Rose is a master at weaving together intricate plots and characters that are both flawed and compelling. The suspense in this book is relentless, and I couldn't put it down until I knew how it all ended. If you're looking for a thrilling and emotional ride, "Quarter to Midnight" is the book for you. Highly recommended!

Rocky is murdered and his son Gabe and PI Molly are trying to piece together why and how. As with all Karen Rose books this is another page turner. The first in a new series and I'm hooked. It is a fantastically long book but I read it in a couple of days. It is a heart racing mystery with love, danger, and lots of action and suspense. I liked the characters and the plot. A gripping thriller.

Quarter to midnight is another amazing book written by Karen. I read this in around 3 sittings and sometimes just couldn’t put it down.

When Karen writes, she incorporates older characters into her books which make them even more interesting to read,

As with all KR books, this one was read in a matter of days. It had all the usual Rose elements - danger, steam, murder and family.

It gets harder and harder to review a book in this series as there are just so many, and they are all just as fabulous as the last.

I loved Gabe and Molly, I thought their relationship worked well and they had such a sparkling chemistry. As with most of her books, the main couple got together pretty quickly - or the attraction was there pretty sharpish anyway! :)

The other characters, of which there were plenty, were all really interesting and unique. I especially liked the young lads and how they were so naïve and ignorant to the big bad world.

Another fantastic book from the queen of romantic suspense.

Recommended for fans of KR, fans of romantic suspense, gory thrillers, BIG books and don't-read-before-bed baddies.

First in a new series by this author. Complex and challenging, new faces, a great start. Karen Rose knows how to write a story that draws you in.

Quarter to Midnight is the first of a new series by Karen Rose and makes an immediate impact! Ex-Marine Molly Sutton joins the New Orleans-based Private Investigators firm run by her ex-Commanding Officer and mentor Burke Broussard and is immediately thrown in to a gritty investigation around the suicide of long-serving NOPD officer, Rocky Herbert. Rocky's son, esteemed chef Gabe Herbert, has his doubts about his Dads' suicide and suspects foul play. But who would kill the respected Rocky and why?
Before long Gabe and Molly find themselves in the middle of a huge conspiracy and cover up and the body count keeps on rising - along with their intense attraction to each other.
This was a fantastic read with a huge amount of characters involved as the couple's friends, families and colleagues but it was not difficult to follow at all. The characters are all extremely well-written and in true Karen Rose style have more than their fair share of backstory and 'secrets' which I can't wait to read more about.
Molly herself has an interesting and traumatic past and I loved her and Gabe's developing relationship.
I really enjoyed this rollercoaster of a read and although it is a long book it kept me hooked until the final page.
I can't wait for the next instalment of the New Orleans series - thank you to Netgalley and publishers for this 5 star read!

Karen Rose is back with a heart-stopping chiller that is impossible to put down: Quarter to Midnight, the first title in what promises to be an explosive new series.

Gabe Hebert’s father Rocky has just been found dead and although the official verdict is suicide, he is not convinced. He is sure that his father did not take his own life and he is willing to do whatever it takes to uncover what really happened on that New Orleans night when his father had died at quarter to midnight. Enlisting the help of the Burke Broussard Investigations Agency, Gabe puts all of his trust in the detectives – and PI Molly Sutton is determined not to let him down.

Molly knows better than most people what it’s like to lose a parent in tragic circumstances and she intends to give this investigation her all – even if it means having to contend with her growing feelings for Gabe. Molly’s investigation leads her to a shocking realization: Rocky had been working on a case of his own that could expose the pervasive corruption that stretches all the way to the upper echelons of the police department. What had Rocky uncovered? Who could have wanted him dead? And what part did Xavier Merrow – a young witness to a murder that happened years ago – play in Rocky’s death?

The closer Molly and Gabe get to the truth, the more they find themselves getting closer and closer to danger. There is somebody watching who will go to any lengths to keep them from finding out what happened that night. Somebody who wants to make Xavier their next victim…

Quarter to Midnight is a fast-paced thriller that will keep readers on the edge of their seats and reeling from one shock to the next. Karen Rose knows how to tell a rattling good story that is dark, twisted and so compulsively readable you will struggle to put her books down and Quarter to Midnight is no different.

An exquisite blend of suspense, intrigue, tension and romance, Quarter to Midnight is another Karen Rose thriller that will knock every reader’s socks off!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book. Unfortunately the formatting was awful for me so I couldn’t keep reading. No fault of the author though so I’m giving it a 3 and buying the book myself so I can do a full review on retail sites!

I’ll start by saying that I am a big fan of Karen Rose's books; it doesn’t matter how short/long they are, for me it’s impossible to stop reading them! Romance and mystery; they had the perfect equation to keep you guessing for the mystery solution while you hope that the main characters will stay alive and have a future together.
I have to advise that even if this is a standalone story; this is the first book of the “New Orleans Series”.
This is the story of Gabe Hebert; his father has died recently, but he doesn’t accept the final verdict of his death and asks for help from his friend Burke Broussard, the owner of a private investigation service. So, when Molly Sutton starts investigating the case, she knows that something doesn’t seem right but never thought how complicated the case would ever get!
This is a story full of characters, it’s not difficult to follow the story but makes all the plot more complex and intriguing, believe me! Also, it was interesting the chemistry between the two characters; there is a high attraction between them, but they seem to fit perfectly with their personalities, making the story more gripping.
It’s not easy to discover the truth in this story; you can’t keep guessing who is lying or hiding things; because everyone seems to have a benefit on the case.
So, this is a twisted and exciting book that it’s impossible to stop reading it!
Are you ready to discover a “Quarter To Midnight”?
