The Chase is On.... 🏃🏼‍♂️ Can't Wait For More

Gabe having recently lost his father to "suicide", Gabe does not believe this to be true and goes in search of answers as how his father really met his end. With the help of his dads old friend who runs his own PI business, the search is on.... Told from a few different perspectives, following a search to find out what his dad was working on and what actually happened.

Great start to a new series of books, can't wait to read what follows.

I’d like to thank Headline and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Quarter To Midnight’ by Karen Rose in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Rocky Hebert knows he hasn’t long to live but doesn’t expect to have three men waiting to silence him on his return home. His son Gabriel Hebert contacts Broussard’s Private Investigations and persuades the owner Burke and assistant Molly Sutton to help him find who killed his father and why. It’s not long before they realise that ex-police officer Rocky was running his own investigation threatening to expose corruption at the top of New Orleans Police Department that arose from when a young boy Xavier Morrow saw a murder committed during the disaster of Katrina.

‘Quarter To Midnight’ is the first thriller in a new series set in New Orleans and shows great promise for future books in the series. It has a well-written and complex plot that stems from what Xavier witnessed and gradually gets more exciting as the story progresses. I’ve been fortunate to visit New Orleans and told about Katrina so I felt I had some knowledge of the area prior to reading. It’s a long book with lots of characters and even more dead bodies that I thought was a bit slow at times but the tempo increased the further I read until I reached the dramatic conclusion. I’ve enjoyed a lot of books by this author and look forward to reading more in the future.

Absolutely loved this book. I’ve read quite a lot of Karen Rose books and I am never disappointed. It is so nice to start with new characters and their story. I would recommend any Karen Rose books and this one is the start of a new series hopefully so a good place to start.

I’ve read several Karen Rose books previously to this one and while I found this one just as enjoyable for me it was a very slow start. By the end however, I just couldn’t put it down!

When a five year old boy witnesses a murder during hurricane Katrina, the police man who rescues him refuses to let it go even though every time he tries to investigate he gets shut down. When the police man supposedly commits suicide his son goes to a private investigator to try to get to the bottom of what happened.

Full of excitement and adventure but be warned there are lots of shootings and killings.

I have read all of Karen Roses books and this latest one did not disappoint. Enjoyed the setting and the historical references to hurricane Katrina were spot on. Great characters and I look forward to reading another novel in this series. Recommended

As with all of Karen Rose’s books, I didn’t want to put this down! She never fails to grab my attention with her fast pace, plus I love that her books are always set over a short time frame (usually only a week or so) and that you are thrown in to the action immediately. Having said that, although this story is fast paced, it doesn’t lack the right level of detail to immerse you in the world she’s created.

The writing style works brilliantly and the romance element plays a big part without detracting from the action and suspense. I really liked the new characters we got to meet and can’t wait to read more about them as the series expands.

Yet another fantastic read by Karen and this is why she is an auto-buy author for me.

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher (Headline) for providing a copy of the book for review. All opinions are my own and provided willingly.

The first is a new romantic suspense/crime series set in New Orleans and Louisiana featuring a PI company set up by Burke Broussard a former marine and New Orleans PD officer who specialise in getting justice for people who haven’t received it through official channels. Firstly, this is a long book, really long, so be prepared for an epic read with a big cast of characters. The main protagonists Gabe and Molly are eminently likeable, unlike some of the other characters. The prologue is dark and it takes a while to find out the reason for it. Told from various POV the story is easy to follow.

Briefly, during hurricane Katrina a young boy, waiting on the roof of his flooded house to be rescued, sees a neighbour being strangled. He reports it the NOPD officer but when he goes into the house there is no body. Some 20 years later Gabe Hebert, a celebrity chef, is told his father, the officer involved in the incident, has committed suicide but he soon realises that the investigation was flawed. It is clear somebody is cleaning up potential witnesses to the initial murder and the search is now on for the young boy. Gabe asks Burke to help and Molly Sutton, a tough former Marine, is assigned the case and on meeting Gabe there is clearly a mutual attraction. Can they find out the truth behind Gabe’s fathers death?

Having been to New Orleans I recognised many of the locations in the book which, for me, always makes a story more enjoyable. Well written with a good, easy to follow plotline this was a fast paced thriller with shoot outs aplenty. There is a massive body count, near enough 2 dozen by the end of the book, and some quite gruesome scenes including dismemberment, although not overly graphic. A good read with lots of threads that all meet seamlessly at the end.

Karen Rose returns with a brand new story set primarily in New Orleans and introducing a new set of characters and boy is it a cracker!!

As New Orleans is full of good cops and bad cops and the problem for PI Molly Sutton is she isn't sure which are which anymore.

After a bruising time as an SBI Agent in North Carolina, Molly now lives and works in the big easy for her old Marine Commander Burke Broussard where she is asked to take on an investigation that hits close to home. As celebrity chef Gabe Hebert desperately needs help when his dad Rocky a former homicide detective is found dead in what the NOPD are calling a suicide.

Yet, Gabe has concrete proof otherwise and as the pair team up to uncover who killed Rocky and why they come across a trail of corruption that goes far beyond the NOPD.

And with danger round every corner, great pacing, compelling characters and twist, after twist, after twist. This really was a brilliant read and I truly hope there will be more stories to come from this fabulous group of characters in the future.

I would highly recommend Quarter to Midnight to others.

I love Karen Rose books and have read all her previous ones! I was thrilled to get the chance to read this, huge thank you to NetGalley and Headline for the opportunity!!

Thus is hopefully the start of a new series in New Orleans m. As always it pulls characters who have been in previous books in there with Farrah & Andre being involved in the storyline who we were introduced to in the Sacramento Series.

Gave seeks help from a PI following the death of his Dad who was a former police officer, he doesn't believe it was suicide. Molly is assigned to his case and as always there's a romance !
We meet Xavier who witnessed a murder at 5 years old that Gabes father has investigated for many years and this brings more new characters who are supporting him.

I don't want to give any spoilers....

It a brilliant read would definitely recommend! I can't wait for the second in this series!!

My first time reading a book by Karen Rose and I wasn’t disappointed, I really enjoyed this one (Quarter To Midnight) The first book in a new series and it’s a great read. I loved the two main characters Gabe and Molly, though you are introduced to a lot of different characters as the long tragic story unfolds with many twists and turns to keep you reading. Based in New Orleans post Katrina added a great element to the book. There’s plenty of back stories for each person and all the characters are likeable. I look forward to reading their stories in future books in this series. A great mystery crime romance thriller, I couldn’t put down a guaranteed page turner. Definitely worth a read. Highly recommend.

Quarter to Midnight Karen Rose

4 stars

A new series still great quality

I have read many of Karen Roses’ books but eventually stopped reading the newer ones because the formula seemed to be repeating itself. However, when I saw that this was a new book with a new set of characters I decided to give her another try and I certainly was not disappointed.

The story revolves around a man, Lamont, murdering his pregnant mistress, Nadia Hall, during Storm Katrina in New Orleans 17 years ago. At the time it was thought that she had drowned and was just another victim of Katrina. He is now an important businessman with a network of shady characters prepared to do his dirty work for him and aspiring to stand for the senate. However when he discovers that the murder was witnessed by a 5 year old boy, Xavier he realises that this witness who is now 22 and an aspiring medical student needs to disappear. An ex-detective, Rocky Hebert, had never believed that Nadia was a drowning and has been investigating the death when he is also discovered dead with a suicide note with his body. When the story begins we are introduced to his son Gabe who refuses to believe that his father has committed suicide and approaches the detective agency headed up by Burke Broussard to investigate. Burke decides to appoint his colleague Molly Sutton to deal with this case as Rocky was a personal friend. Molly has often eaten in Gabe’s restaurant and had been attracted to him for some time so finds it difficult to remain impersonal but determines to remain professional.

We are introduced to a whole range of characters surrounding the main protagonists and the plot has many twists and turns. This is a long book but it is worth reading as the whole tragic story unfolds. However one of the downsides for me, was the relationship between Gabe and Molly which very quickly becomes very personal despite Molly stating categorically that this would be unprofessional! A passionate romance between two of the main protagonists is a trademark of Karen Roses’ books and I do find this a little unnecessary but this is my personal opinion.

However I will certainly be looking forward to the next instalment of this series where hopefully some of the new characters will be further developed.

This is the first book in a new series and is a great read.
Gabe seeks the help of Burke and Molly as his Dad was found dead and he wants to know who killed him.
The Police are saying it was suicide but Gabe does not believe them.
He knows his Dad was hiding something from him but he has no idea what he was involved in.
There’s lots of threads to this story and it’s a bit of a long one but stick with it and you’re in for a great read.
I loved Molly as a character and can’t wait to read more books with her in them.
A great mystery crime thriller.
Thanks to Headline and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Another great book from Karen Rose. They are always well written and full stories. Took a couple of days lying on the beach to read this and I kept wanting to go to previous books to remind myself of their stories
Hope this is the first of a few set in New Orleans

Great new series starting with a belter of a novel. Love the two main characters of Gabe and Molly. And being based in New Orleans post Katrina is another great element of this book.
Storyline is complex with lots of twists and turns to keep you busy. The detailed character set ups delve into each persons back story and they are so far, all likeable. I look forward to their stories in the future books in this series.
I did not like the Harper storyline, pretty sure that it’s a set up for a future book. It was not overly connected to the main thread except Molly’s background story but mentioned multiple times which I’m not not sure is necessary?
The detail and time taken with this book is true Karen Rose Style! Great author.

An cracking new addition to the Karen Rose family of fantastic romance thrillers.

This time we visit New Orleans to meet the members of the Broussard Investigation Agency. Racing against time to unearth a killer who will go to any lengths to protect his secret this fast paced thriller will keep you reading late into the night.

With strong, likable characters and an intriguing plot line I think this book will be a massive hit with all Karen Rose fans.

A brilliant 5 star book that I will gladly recommend.

Karen Rose writes good romantic suspense novels, and this is no exception.. A good holiday read. The only thing that didn’t work for me was that towards the end it got a bit heavy on explanations- who did what, and why, and how it was uncovered seemed to be explained over and over again

It's Karen Rose, what more of a recommendation would you need?

One of the few authors that continually enthrals and excites their readers, never disappoints, I don't think she ever could
