This is definitely a fun book!

Though perhaps a hair longer than it should be, it was an entertaining adventure with a surprising amount of heart.

I do have to admit that I didn't understand wow our characters missed that a certain person was being snaky. It was way too obvious and in-your-face, but aside from that, the characters were engaging.

Our critters are very dangerous and a lot of fun to read.

I enjoyed this one!

in some ways it was like I was reading one of my all time favorite books Jurassic Park, and every time there was interaction with the dinosaurs I could actually hear Ian Malcolm saying must go faster ( 😂😂😂),While it wasn't exactly like it ,it was still good and interesting in the ways it was different, and that made it enjoyable for me to just set back and read , plus I loved the draws it had of the dinosaurs.

So much fun- exactly what fans of Jurassic Park long for.

A team of scientists venture to a forbidden island with a permit to conduct some toxinocology research. And, while they’re there, they don’t mind investigating rumours of a Quetzacoatl sighting.

Unfortunately, there's too much pep talk and too many 'witty' retorts. Theres a lot of explaining the same thing (ex. why everyone feels guilty about having to go to war with the others) and too much repeating information.
There's too much grief when I just want to read about action and dinosaur attacks.

And I'd love to hear more about the Dino Crisis video game.

I love dinosaurs and many of the Jurassic Park movies and books. So, when I noticed this book, it caught my interest. I must admit that I was a little disappointed. The writing is certainly not up to Michael Crichton standards. It was kind of a bad remake of a couple of the movies.

It was an interesting and fun read, nonetheless. I am not certain that I liked any of the characters, except Jose and Dr. Hernandez. There are the usual personality conflicts and terrible lizards abound. There are the bad guys and the good guys. And some really bad guys.

I liked the book, but not sure I would recommend it to anyone with a disclaimer. Something like, “It was pretty good, but don’t expect marvelous literature.”

I want to thank NetGalley and Liberty Books for forwarding to me a copy of this book for me to read and review. The opinions expressed here are solely my own.

Take one off-limits island, one scientific expedition, and a handful of dinosaurs. What could possibly go wrong?! "Stranded" was a whole heap of fun to read. There's plenty of gore (as you'd expect), a good plot, interesting characters, and a solid setting. The writing feels a little bit as if the author was trying to write for the audience, rather than telling the story his way. Looking forward to the next book.

My thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley. This review was written voluntarily and is entirely my own, unbiased, opinion.

3.5 stars. Honestly this book reeked of the screenplay of Jurassic Park 3, right down to the dino with the sail on its back and the bunker for the bad guys. However, I love me some sci-fi dino books so I did enjoy the story, though for the ending on a cliffhanger (sorry, spoiler) the book was much too long.

Emmanuel Hernandez is a renowned toxinologist who is on the quest for his next cure. He gets permission to visit a forbidden island off the coast of Brazil in hopes of discovering his next big cure. No one has set foot on the island for 60 years, or so they are lead to believe. When Emmanuel and his team land, they get more than they bargained for when they meet feathery velociraptors and other creatures that should have perished long ago. While not created in a lab like JP's dinos, these are brought in through a portal on the island from prehistoric times. And the people responsible for the portal don't want to share their technology... or their island. What began as a hunt for rare toxin cures turns into a fight for life between prehistoric lizards and everyday bad guys. And everyone wants you dead one way or another.

I could have done without the illustrations in this book. They were quite poorly drawn and honestly added nothing to the plot line. While there is research supporting that raptors indeed did have feathers, the more they were mentioned the more I kept picturing them being attacked by big turkeys...and the pictures didn't help. I felt like this book could have been better with some more research and scientific consultations and when compared to JP it feels like an amateur attempt at re-creating that. OK but not enough to make me want to finish the next books to learn the final conclusion.

I'm excited for the new Jurassic World movie that comes out in June, and I wanted to get in the mood, so i read Dino Crisis, and it was a really fun read! There were deaths of characters I really liked, especially one. The book was filled with lots of dinosaurs--and a large variety of them, too--as the name of the book implied. The good guy charcters have to contend with not just the dinosaurs and some bad guys, but also the island itself. Ilha da Morte is not a paradise island any longer. There is a volcano that keeps grumbling, and we all know when a volcano rumbles, you run as far from it as you can. However, this group cannot; they have no way off the island.

There were excitiing twists and turns that I did not see coming. This book is more than a simple action adventure. There are mysterious characters who are here to stop a machine that causes dinosaurs to appear from the past into the present.

The action and characters are so intense that when I'd get up to make coffee or to get something, I'd sit back down and look for the play button because it reads very much like watching a movie. There is a ton of action, some humor, and did I mention dinosaurs?

This is book 1, and I'm really excited about reading book two. I highly suggest this book for those who love dinosaurs and action adventure that is well written.

This was a decent read and I found it enjoyable. I liked the premis eof the story and I maganged to read it quickly. I think that it could be marketed at a younger audience but I still really enjoyed it. I thought that there was a lot of action that was packed into this one book which wasn't a long read so this may work better as a series rather than a standalone. It was a decnt read and I would definitely read more.

Dino Crisis is a mix of Lost, Jurassic Park and and a Grade B horror movie. Toxinologist Dr. Emmanuel Hernandez obtains a special permit to visit Ilha da Morte where a giant flying lizard is rumored to live. Since the permit is only good for a week, he ignores an incoming storm and, with his team and researchers from other universities, travels to the island with disastrous results. His boat is wrecked on the rocks surrounding Ilha da Morte, his student assistant is mortally wounded and most of the expedition’s supplies are lost to the sea. The worst is yet to come. The lizard is not the only gigantic prehistoric beast on the island. There are many, they are nocturnal and they are hungry. There is also a mysterious bunker where a battle has taken place, warring scientists, and researchers who are not who they say they are. There are many ways to die on this island and not all involve being eaten.

I am a huge fan of horror novels yet I’m giving Dino Crisis 3 stars in the hope it can be improved. Do away with the drawings. They don’t add anything and make me think the book was written for middle schoolers. Next, Dino Crisis is two, possibly three, separate novels. The first is the creation of the team, the decision to travel to the island, bad weather etc. Then the dinosaurs, the hunt, the frantic attempts to escape. Survivors leave, vowing to return. Next in series: the scientists and the bunker. That concludes with a sighting of Dr. Hernandez’ boat returning. Finally, the battle for the island. So 3 stars but there’s a lot of promise here.

Thank you to NetGalley, Liberty Books and Chris Liberty for this ARC.
