This is my first for this author and I never in a million years thought I would write a review and complain about there being too much sex and not enough proper story. Well, I am. The scenes were good and there is a glimmer of a good story there but it was a tad frustrating when the sex got in the way. And while there are comments about triggering events but the author warns you

This is my first time reading a book based on werewolves, its not normally my normal type of fantasy to read, however I did enjoy the fast paced nature of the book. The book is full of werewolves, witches' and vampires, what more could you ask for. I loved Jack and Angela's storyline how their interest in each other develops slowly throughout the book and I hope they end up with each other after they've got with everyone else. THE SPICE. The spice in this book was by fair the spiciest most detailed thing I have read to date and would solely read this book again just for that. This first book is a quick short read that is a lovely pallet cleanser to the high fantasy I normally gravitate too. I rated it 4 star as I believe there could be more plot in the book and I hope it is developed as the series continues.

While not what I was expecting I am so glad I gave this book a chance. Adore these main characters and all the action. The detail of the flow of emotions the characters experience is beautiful.

Dark, short and to the point! I am a fan. I really enjoyed reading and I look forward to the next book.

This was my first read by Cassie Alexander and while the storyline had promise, I couldn't;t relate to the characters and felt they lacked chemistry. It wasn't a bad story, but jus average foe me.

Ok I enjoy paranormal romance so was very interested in this book about a female werewolf and her vampire employee . I did find it odd that neither realised exactly what the other actually was but liked the idea of Angela being her own woman and doing everything she could for her family . However as an admittedly hopeless romantic the fact that they both have sex with other people just kind of killed it for me . Although if you enjoy a steamy read that takes a slightly different approach then I’m sure there will be many who enjoy this book but sadly it wasn’t my preferred type of story.
This voluntary take is of a book I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Its teally waited a 1.5, but rounded up to 2 stars. Wanted to like. Didn't like the characters. Found the situations unrealistic. The writing choppy and disjointed. Had to read pages over and over to make sense of the different scenarios. First and last time reading this author. Wish them well, but I won't be reading anymore.

This was my first book by this author and I started reading it only knowing it included an MC pack.
I struggled with this book to be honest. The two main characters have hardly any interaction and I found it consisted mainly of different sex scenes and not a lot of plot. It ended very abruptly and I'm not sure if there really was a start, middle and end to a specific plot line.
I hope other people enjoyed reading this but for me, it wasn't my cup of tea.

Thanks NetGalley for a chance to review this book

Just no. I feel bad that I didn't enjoy it, but I just didn't. The tropes weren't for me and the "fantasy" element was a miss. I also didn't love the portrayal of the trans character. It ended with a cliff hanger and I won't be reading book 2..

THIS IS A BOOK FOR MATURE ADULTS, NOT FOR CHILDREN. IF YOU DON’T LIKE STEAMY BOOKS, PLEASE READ SOMETHING ELSE.

Written by Cassie Alexander, this novel follows werewolf and tattoo parlor owner Angela and her employee and vampire Jack. Angela has a son with her former lover and leader of a deadly pack/biker gang who has been reaching out, luckily she has a new man named Mark. Jack, on the other hand, has been pining for Angela since he started working there, but he feeds based on sex and blood so he definitely is no saint and sleeps with many people. When one of his lovers is murdered, he goes on the hunt.

First things first, these two don’t know that the other is a monster, and this book ends at what is really about the halfway mark of the plot arcs of this book. Really, nothing at all is resolved by the end of the book.

BUT, I really enjoyed the writing style of this book (and to go with the steamy warning, there is at least one scene of it in every book, so you have been warned) in that I really liked our two main characters and I think the pacing was pretty good, excluding all the steam scenes that sometimes, often, felt like a waste of time to the plot, but its a steamy romance so you get what you get.

If you enjoy steam, if you are cool with reading about some LGBTQ stuff, and are okay with a book that ends on a COMPLETE cliffhanger, give this book a shot. I enjoyed it, its got some mystery and action, and I think I want to know what happens to these two characters.

I did receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a really good first book. Does have a cliff hanger ending but it has two separate stories of Jack the Vampire and Angie the Shifter who are both tattoo artists that are both involved in it seems like a plot with Angie’s ex Grey who is in prison. Grey is killing people who are close to Jack for some reason and he is trying to find out why and Grey is trying to get Angie and her son back so they can be a “happy family” again…
Needless to say, this is the first book to a good series, very nice steamy sex scenes from everyone, and a good story line.

Blood of the Pack is the first in a paranormal romance series with vampires, werewolves, tattoo artists, and Las Vegas scenery which all sounds like a fun time, but this book itself I'd describe as Not For Me. Certain tropes used in the smut scenes really turned me off and took me out of the experience. I also found the portrayal of the one trans character in the story very poorly written as the author deadnames and uses the incorrect pronouns for her when describing the character's transition.

I think this book had an appealing concept, but it just did not do it for me.

This book is a fast-paced fantasy novel with high levels of smut scenes. It focuses on two main characters of whom we get to know in the author's unique way of giving both Jack and Angela a chapter each interchangeably to allow us to follow along with both storylines at once. Im not going to lie this is very similar to any other werewolf smut novel I've read (Which I really enjoy!), so if thats your thing this book is for you!

This book had such potential to be amazing and not just another werewolf smut book. Gosh, I really with that there had been a good conflict in this book. But there was nothing. It was things happening in Jacks life and things happening in Angela’s life and no true conflict that would be resolved by the end of the book. No cliff hangers, nothing, nada. Which is disappointing on so many levels when you have many creatures that go bump in the night.

Yes, I will definitely continue the series and I hope the conflict in the future is truly horrible to make up for the lack of it in Blood of the Pack.

I almost don't know what to write about this book - first I will say it is more on the side of erotica than romance. This book has all the sex. Like literally all of it - and none of that sex is between Angela and Jack. It has only limited interactions between the two leads - Jack works for Angela - but he works the night shift and doesn't see her very often.

The book kind of ends on a cliffhanger - but mostly - it feels like it ends at like the 1/3 point of the story. We know a lot about them - but definitely not how they got where they are now (at least not entirely). We can also see the attraction between them - but Angela has a boyfriend who seems like he is holding his own as a pretty good match for her. Something really bad must be coming for him or about him to have Angela end up with Jack instead. Cause I actually really liked Mark...

As for Jack - you grow to really really like him and his completely sexually promiscuous ways. Each person he's with during the book you could see a total romance with them developing - especially Paco. But that being said - it seems he and Angela are destined for each other - so I am very interested to see how that plays out.

This book does a great job of developing this world and in between sex scenes - really building up the character development and interest in where things are going. Overall - I am very curious as to how it all resolves because the author has totally sucked me in!

I received this as an ARC via NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

This book has an interesting premise of a tattoo parlor in Vegas with two paranormals. Throw in a motorcycle gang, the mob, a single mother, and a man trying to find out who killed a friend and you get a taste of this book. Oh, and lots of sex. That may be a problem for some people.

This is the first book in a series and it feels like it. There is a lot introduced without any resolution. The characters are interesting but I wish I felt more of a connection to them. That is probably in part because of the relatively short length of the story.

It is a fast ride and left me wanting to know more. I just might pick up the next in the series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.

Thank you to netgalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me access to this book to read. I have seen this online so I was intrigued to be accepted to read this as an eARC.

Although this is a book is in the erotica genre it felt like the plot overall took second place which was a letdown for the book, I also think that the main two characters voices got a little muddled the further you go through the book and were not distinct enough for each of the characters. On the other hand, I did like the way each of the characters discovered sexuality and was open to all experiences with different partners as well as some really good smutty scenes. This did feel a little over-edited which took away some of the spark of the writing. There was no indicator about whose chapter it was until you already started reading which isn't vital but would have been a nice addition to the book.
I do like the main characters they felt 3D and realistic although some descriptions were added when not needed and some other details that would have been helpful were missed. I liked that you could peice the story togeather between the two characters to see what will happen in the story, i liked the sarcasm, relationships between the characters and the reactions to situations are very logical to the characters. this definatly felt like a set up book for a very long series, do i feel the urge to read the rest of the series, no. But i did like the writing style overall and the pacing was good just felt like it was lacking some more plot, if there was more plot i would definatly put it as 5 stars but it lacked more substance other then erotica.

Blood of the pack by Cassie Alexander is book one in the Dark Ink Tattoo series and is a fast-paced, action packed read! The story focuses on the characters Angela and Jack. Angela is the owner of Dark Ink Tattoos, a werewolf and hiding from her old pack and ex-boyfriend who is currently in prison and Jack, works for Angela, and although there is some attraction there, he hasn’t done anything about it and is a little bit of a player. When Angela starts to get threatened and her son is put in danger, things seem to get more real for the both of them.

There is a definite feel of will they/ wont they in this first book with a lot of sexual tension and a lot of sexy scenes which definitely make the book a lot spicier! This book has a smorgasbord of paranormal characters such as witches, werewolves and vampires as well as an MC thrown in there too, so if that’s your jam then this paranormal romance is the one for you.

Overall, the story has a lot of twist and turns, is told from both characters POV and is a good set up as a first book in a series.

ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own. 😊

This book is a fast-paced fantasy novel with high levels of sexual encounters and lust. It focuses on two main characters of whom we get to know in the author's unique way of giving both Jack and Angela a chapter each interchangeably to allow us to follow along with both storylines at once. Vampires, werewolves and magicians all feature in this book about escaping the past, and some times running from the future. The book has a solid foundation for a good plot, but I'd like to see more of the plot developing a little faster, instead of the crux of the book being the sexual content. I look forward to seeing how the story develops in the next book.

Very interesting plot. I enjoyed the back-and-forth between the characters. Angela's backstory had me hooked immediately.

It was a little confusing trying to figure out which perspective each chapter was, as there were no names at the beginning of chapters. I got used to the every-other chapter format but it was extremely confusing in the beginning.

This book had a promising storyline but it never went anywhere. He basically went to anyone for sex while she stuck with this one guy. There seems to be tension between the two main characters but nothing comes of it in the first book. It feels like things are building up for the second book and might improve. I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
