Sam Copeland is so funny!
The series of Charlie was so funny ,so i knew when i had the chance to read this book i would not be disappointed.
Agatha Topps is a great character she reminds me of Harriett the spy.
The story line is great and just so much fun with some real laugh out loud moments.

If Jenny Pearson writes something, I will want to read it. The same goes for Sam Copeland. Individually they are brilliantly funny authors but together...well, you will have to read this to see just how amazing the pairing is.

Agatha and Lenny are in the same class at Little Strangehaven Primary and they are the only ones who seem immune to the shiver...a strange phenomenon that changes the behaviour and abilities of those around them. From ballroom dancing to floating, something is definitely wrong and it will come down to this odd pairing of a spy duo to solve the case.

Each chapter is told from the perspective of Agatha or Lenny, alternating between each. As you read Agatha, she determines that she is the leader but Lenny disputes this in his chapters. Their antics are hilarious as are the rest of the characters in the story.

I recommend this so highly as a classroom read and I have also listened to this on audiobook. Jenny and Sam each read their respective characters chapters and it is even better than you can imagine!

Read it! Listen to it! Share it!

The Underpants of Chaos is a book I was intrigued to read as I've loved all of Sam's books in the past and I was interested in how this book would be with him having paired up with another author who I had not read before.

The story follows Agatha and Lenny who choose to investigate a strange happening in the school where shivers and strange things keep happening. We get to see each of their perspectives through alternating chapters and discover the reason for these strange events.

I wanted to really enjoy this book but I didn't think much of it. I found the writing and story were OK but not so amazing that I'd want to tell everyone about the book like other of Sam's books. I think the book would appeal to children with the silliness of it and the humour within the story but I would have preferred some more serious or realistic topics intertwined within it or something that we could learn from.

The illustrations are nice and it's fun to see what Agatha and Lenny get up to, especially with the more sillier circumstances which make for some fun pictures. Again, they're not my favourite illustrations but I think that's because the story's lacking in my opinion so I don't feel the emotions behind the pictures and it's like they're just there.

I think this is a book children will enjoy but I found it disappointing and though I persevered to the end I was losing interest.

When I heard that Sam Copeland (Charlie Changes Into A Chicken) and Jenny Pearson (The Super Miraculous Journey Of Freddie Yates) were writing a book together, I was incredibly intrigued. Unsurprisingly, the end result is an absolute winning formula.

The Underpants of Chaos centres around Agatha Topps and Lenny Tuchus, Year 4 pupils (and spy-detectives) at Little Strangehaven Primary.

Only a few days into the new school year, and the pair of spy-detectives notice some strange events happening at their school. Firstly, Dr Errno (the headteacher) has arranged for a new automated library system with robotic owls to be introduced, much to the annoyance of Mr Pardon, the librarian. Then there’s the issue of the repeated feeling of “shivers” that only Agatha and Lenny seem to be able to feel. Oh, and some children have been dancing uncontrollably, while there have also been warrior chickens firing eggs at helpless teachers and students. Eventually, Tuchus and Topps decide to investigate further…

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I particularly enjoyed the way the chapters alternated between the perspective of Tuchus and Topps. This format kept me engrossed and made for plenty of laughs along the way. It was very funny hearing Agatha bemoan Lenny’s stupidity, whilst Lenny constantly referred to Agatha as his “assistant”. As a side note, and not wanting to give away too much, Gregor easily jumps straight into my list of “favourite ever characters”. He was hilarious and I hope he returns in other Tuchus and Topps investigations.

It should come as no surprise to hear that the authors who gave us “Greta And The Ghost Hunters” and “Freddie Yates” have written one of the funniest children’s books of 2022. It would make for a terrific read aloud in many KS2 classrooms. I can’t recommend this, and the rest of their books enough.

I already love Sam Copeland and Jenny Pearson books so when I found out they had teamed up for a book, I couldn't wait. Thankfully it absolutely lives up to all expectations- a great story, fun characters and lots of laugh out loud moments!
A great story about friendship and when Lenny and Agatha team up to solve a mystery of the shivers that only they remember at school it brings lots of laughs along the way, along with some strange situations!!
Perfect for 8 plus.

Unfortunately the build-up to the core adventure here, when two kids go in search of an explanation for weirdness and SHIVERS episodes in their school was far too laborious, and far too adult-proof. Now adult-proof isn't generally a sin, but when a book seems to both try too hard and fail at what it wants to do, it's enough to make me ditch it. Again, unfortunately.

Absolutely hilarious school mystery told from the very different first person perspectives of an unlikely crime-fighting duo.

Loads of laugh-out-loud escapades and truly random adventures, as well as genuinely moving moments.

Totally chaotic comedy with real heart. Just awesome! 🩳
