Oh, what an exciting adventure it was divine. Ada went on a mission and found something she wasn’t expecting. She refused to bow out no matter how aggravating Warfield was acting. Warfield found himself in an unattainable spot, and he didn’t like it one bit. Ada’s presence in his home was disturbing more than the runnings of his estates, such as his mind and lower extremity. Delightfully sassy, sexy, saucy, sweet, scintillating, and entertaining.

Will he let the obscurity hold him back when he acknowledges the wrong it has done …

I have waited for this book since we were offered some hints of the heroine’s past.
Plus I so love a story about Grumpy meeting Sunshine. And who’s more grumpy than Max and more radiant than Ada.
Ada learned to never let hardships put her down, whatever she faced, she rose from it. She chooses to see the light instead of the darkness, never allowing despot stand on her path.
Max instead let the shadows swallow him, kind of embracing the sorrows which accompanied him from the moment of his return from war. But in his fall of despair, he takes with him his legacy.
Why Ada is here, to sort things out and offer him solutions to keep his estate and household in working order. If he might permit it.
Their relationship begins on some wrong foot as he does not take well her intrusion in his affairs, even if it is his friend who sent her for help. Yet slowly she scratches his armor, demonstrating how his carelessness damages and exhausts more than his house staffs. That despite everything he has a duty to his tenants and employees.
With patience, she helps him lift himself out of his sense of hopelessness.
But what is to become of her hard work when her luminous presence leaves as she is only there for predetermined period of time.
A lovely second chance between beauty and the beast.

4.5 brilliant stars...

I loved this book... What an add on to the Phoenix Club series!

Max is a wounded beast while Ada is a strong person who has faced so many hardships and grown to be this beautiful person inside out. I loved both of them....

We get to see more of our favorite characters from previous books (and the MCs in the forthcoming ones 🤩🤩 - can't wait to read the next!!)

Spoilers ahead. Please do not read ahead if you haven't read the book...

There are several triggers including a relationship with a married person. I am usually particular about fidelity and no cheating aspects. Max from the book is also a stickler to this. Though Ada wasn't the one who was cheating, her past relationship with a married person did worry me slightly. She would have been the ow there. But in the course of the story, it did not bother me. I don't judge her and I was in tears - rooting for her and Max..

What bothered me was - why did she not tell Max about it.
It took me a while to be ok with her not confessing fully. 10 hours to be precise (😜 don't judge me). So shouldn't Max have taken more time to come around this issue (🧐🧐😬 again pls don't judge me)...

The other thing that bothered me was - when Jonathan proposes to Ada, she thinks of Max only once - if we had felt her longing for Max more or maybe a clearer emphasis on her love for Max in her mind - I would have been more happier (it's just me I think 😁).

All said, I loved it and this might go into my books I read again and again soon 🤩
