This is such a fun creative book. I know kids will love it. Splat painting is a fun-experimenting art form that helps kids ( and adults too I'm sure ) explore the world through colours. You cannot make a mistake and you don't have to work within the lines, in fact, you can let your imagination run wild and the sky's the limit.

The Splat creatures were created randomly by the author just by dripping ink on paper and then the playfulness began. Kids will adore the crazy hilarious characters and the book encourages them to go ahead and make their own Splats. The book is perfect for ages 3+. The next step after the unique ink drop is to give your masterpiece a name and a description to compliment the Splat creature you designed.

This book would be a perfect introduction to an abstract art lesson in a classroom or as a fun activity for a family night at home. I highly recommend this book. Splat is where it's at! Enjoy!

This was such a fun book! I read it with my young niece. She got a kick out of the art work and I was amused with some of the character backgrounds. This brought me back to my childhood and having to make a picture from a random shape and then creating a story about said picture.

I would love to be more helpful with this one, but when I opened the file on my kindle, there was a single image. I zoomed in and still could tell nothing about it other than it looked like brightly colored "splats" of paint.

Wonderful book! The art work is fabulous! I can't wait to buy this book so I can see the art in person. Loved the pages for children to create their own art. My grandson loved the book!

Art with imagination - page splats given personality.

Originally part of a college course submission, the author’s random ink drips have been given names, Latin names, faces and characters in this picture book that also works as art and comedy.

17 here and the chance to name two of your own, Splooge is also known as ‘Thinkalotus, and looks like he’s sucking a finger. Snozz uses his long nose as a fifth leg. Beefo is strange lay afraid of cheese.

It’s very encouraging of imagination and the idea you don't have to be sensible when being creative. Younger and older children can take inspiration from this and make up stories and names of their own - go wild.

With thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample reading copy.

This is a neat and unique book. It was created through abstract artwork or "splats" which the author then turned into imaginary creatures. Each page features a strange creature, it's name, species name (ex. thinkalotus, snarlalot) and a 1-3 sentence description about the species. The pictures are simple but bright in colour and often look funny or strange. I think that young children would find this book entertaining and enjoy looking at the pictures. As a grade 3 teacher I could see using this book as part of an art lesson or as a mentor text for writing a simple class book. I look forward to purchasing a copy for my classroom library and would recommend it to other teachers as well.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this fun book!

We love trying to figure out how the illustrator created the illustrations for a book and in this one they tell you right in the book! It was funny to see the different Splats and read their stories. It inspired us to make our own Splats using liquid watercolors. We made a Fire-a-Saurus, Fatmango, Flying Monkey, and The Carouselasaurus.

This is a fun book!

I can see it sparking an entire art project for kids to splatter their own paint and make a creature out of it.

The names and descriptions suite the splat creatures and are sure to get a giggle out of elementary or preschool aged kids.
