The sixth outing for Oxford-based Detective Inspector Alex Fawley in this intelligent and moving police procedural. An unknown intruder is shot dead by a pensioner in a burglary gone wrong. But as DI Fawley and his team soon discover, all is not as it seems. The intruder is their grandson, thought killed by their daughter and imprisoned for infanticide. Excellently plotted and paced, interspersed with mixed media. This is a crime thriller of the very best kind.

This is the sixth book in the series featuring DI Adam Fawley. Adam and his team are investigating the fatal shooting of a man. It occurred at a remote property belonging to an elderly couple who claims that the man was an intruder who attacked the elderly man. The team are not convinced that the couple are telling the truth and struggle to identify the dead man. Adam links the DNA of the dead man to a notorious case involving a child killer and that the elderly couple and their daughter were involved in this case. This is a tricky and complex case for Adam and his team with so many hidden secrets and lies. An intriguing book which I thoroughly enjoyed. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

💫 Book Tour - Hope to Die by Cara Hunter 💫

I was very lucky to be gifted a copy of this latest Cara Hunter book 'Hope to Die' which is part of the Adam Fawley series. But if you haven't read any of the series this can be read as a standalone, Cara has put a summary of the police characters in the beginning which I love!

Synopsis:

Midnight.

A call-out to an isolated farm on the outskirts of Oxford.

A body shot at point-blank range in the kitchen.

It looks like a burglary gone wrong, but DI Adam Fawley suspects there's something more to it.

When the police discover a connection to a high-profile case from years ago, involving a child's murder and an alleged miscarriage of justice, the press go wild.

Suddenly Fawley's team are under more scrutiny than ever before. And when you dog up the past, you're sure to find a few skeltons.....

I love a thriller and this has everything! The story starts straight away and I love that transcripts, and social media all play a part. I was immersing myself into the story and enjoying every minute. The characters are all realistic and well written, and the story unfolds brilliantly.

Thank you to @carahunterauthor
@penguinukbooks
@penguinrandomhouse and #lounyuar for my copy and allowing me to be on the book tour.

Another brilliant book by Cara Hunter! Whilst this one didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat like previous novels, I loved the premise of the book and thought it was very cleverly written. So many intricate details to the plot and loved how it all joined together for a satisfying ending. Cannot wait for the next instalment already!!

It’s no secret that I absolutely adore Cara Hunter books and this is another gem to add to the series. It’s been great to return to Fawley and characters from previous books in Hope To Die.

I was excited about this book from the moment it was announced. It’s definitely a book which hasn’t disappointed. I have been completely captivated once again. The anticipation and wait over this book has been completely worth it.

This is perfectly paced, filled with tension and suspense- whilst keeping the reader wanting more. Hunter has transported me and I feel as though I have been watching this play out. Hope to Die (as well as the previous five books) is totally screen worthy and I would be watching over and over again.

This is another exciting book, unpredictable and filled with twists that are guaranteed to keep you guessing. My emotions have been on a rollercoaster as I’ve read this one.

I have read all of Hunter’s books and this is truly another gem to add to the collection. I’m a huge fan of Hunter and really cannot say anything negative about this book.

Hope to Die is a book worthy of all the praise and is def a book I will be recommending to everyone.

I thought I had given a review for this book several months ago but it seems not....

I love Cara Hunter! She writes complicated plots which keep you guessing all the way through, and I love her main character Adam Fawley.

Riveting read. 5*´s from me.

My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin General UK for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for an honest review.

A new Cara Hunter is always a cause for celebration and I was delighted to be invited to read Hope to Die before its publication date. With as tight and complicated a plot as you come to expect from Cara Hunter and her Adam Fawley stories, Hope to Die kept me on my toes, second guessing myself throughout.
Written in her customary style of file notes, interviews and messages, this is a speedy page turner of a book that is well worth a read!

Although this was number six in the series and I hadn’t read the others this, was ok to read it as a stand alone. A twisty read that kept me guessing all the way through. Throughly enjoyed this one. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review..

I love a police procedural and I'm a big fan of the Adam Fawley series of books. I have read them all but they read just as well as stand alones.
I was fascinated to find that this book is inspired by the true story of a lady who delivers a baby which subsequently goes missing spun with Hunter's usual creativity and intrigue. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.

I have reviewed a brilliant story everywhere and look forward to the next book. Great characters that you really get hooked into, I tried hard to work it out but in the end, it all became clear, why didn't I work that out? That is clever writing by a brilliant author.

Another great DI Fawley book - I loved this! I've come to find that you can really rely on Cara Hunter to write a gripping, well-crafted thriller, and I say this as someone who doesn't dip her toe into the genre very often. I really enjoy the structure and format of her books - they always feel very dynamic and fast-paced - and the addition of the Netflix True Crime Doc this time around was just fantastic.

Overall, a book I really enjoyed. Loved the twists and the *gasp* moments that just keep you turning those pages. I also really love that you can be a brand new reader to the series at any point and in any book - Hunter keeps you up to speed at the start of each book (also helps to jog my terrible memory too!).

Book #6 in the DC Fawley series, however the first book I have read.
This could be a stand alone with no need to read the others, however I will be going back to the beginning as Hunter's writing is fantastic.

Loosely based off an actual true story, it is a must read for any True Crime fans.

"Milly Liar" has served 15 years for a crime she is adamant she didn't commit. Nobody believed her until now, but even as the truth starts coming out - there's always more than meets the eye.

I absolutely loved all the bits throughout the book of the interview, email, voicemail formats etc. Felt like I was reading a proper police file! Definitely off to download the other 5 books in this series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars rounded to 5 for NetGalley.
I love the DI Fawley series and was so happy to get back to the characters. I did like the little refresher table at the start as it had been a while.

Another brilliant story and I like that it's based on a real news story. Camilla was written well and I couldn't make my mind up for a while if she was conniving or a victim of circumstance.

I can't believe the very end of the book, I slightly feel that someone didn't get their comeuppance. Actually there was another person who needs to be shown up but they will most likely be in the next one.

Overall, the series is still going strong and I can't wait for the next crime.

#HopetoDie #NetGalley This is the sixth book i9n the DI Adam Fawley series. Whilst it is capable of being read as a stand-alone, I think it does add to the enjoyment if you know some of the back history of Fawley and his team. This is an excellent series which, in my opinion, just keeps getting better and better. a really sad and gruesome story line with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes. I look forward to the next installment in this series. A well-deserved 5 stars!
