A great thriller - I would recommend it!

Full of twists. When Josie Bennet was young her whole world had changed. Jimmy, her little brother had went missing and Josie’s friend Samuel was charged and sentenced to prison when they found Jimmy murdered.
After twenty six years Samuel was released from prison early. Josie has a little girl Ivy who ends up missing too. Did Samuel murder her little brother or take her daughter? Or is it someone else...Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.

I enjoyed this but not my favourite by this author felt it dragged out a bit and not as fast paced as her other books

K L Slater is a new favorite.
Missing was definitely a story you think you have it all figured out and then out of nowhere the plot twists.
I just love this author and can’t wait to read more.

I have read several of K L slaters books and have always enjoyed them, this one didn't disappoint. When Josie's daughter Ivy goes missing Josie suspects her brother's murdered who has just been released from prison. With lots of twists another fantastic read from Kim.

OMG, I would want to trade places with Josie. The hurt she went through as a girl is heartbreaking and now still bad things are following her and making her life hell.

She is desperate, because her daughter is missing. Who wouldn't be, but when you feel like nobody seems to listen to you, you would like to bang your fist on the table or tear your hair out. She wants action and to her it's like the police are doing nothing. The officers do everything they can though, but they need evidence before they can arrest someone.

That's what is really nerve racking. The police have to play by the rules while the baddies make their own rules...

Someone comes to help her. Someone she least expected it from and she finally feels like she is getting somewhere. Until that bubble of hope bursts and leaves her more devastated than ever.

The author wrote an amazing story that broke my heart and did not stop at one surprise. Oh nee, she has a few more. :)

I loved this book. 5 stars

Thank you

I liked this book, which had a few good twists. The story centers on Josie, whose 8 year old brother was murdered when she was a teen. Now it’s been 25 years and she has her own 8 year old child when the convicted murderer is released from prison. When her own daughter goes missing she thinks it’s pretty apparent who did it but the police have to launch a full investigation.

The mystery in the book was sound and the author provided a few believable options as to what was really happening. There were some twists that I didn’t figure out until revealed, though I do wish I had some more background info on many of them. I could empathize with Josie for the most part but there were decisions she made, both in her childhood and in current time, that I really didn’t understand. The ending of the book was satisfying to me and made sense based on the rest of the story.

Overall, good mystery that I kept reading quickly because I wanted to know what happened. Some unanswered questions but a good story that I’d recommend to those who like mysteries. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for for an honest review.

I normally love this author, not only are her books great reads but they are also based in my local area so I know a lot of the places mentioned. However, this book did nothing for me , I found it extremely slow and wasn’t keeping my attention at all, it’s a shame as I was really looking forward to it.

I’m having a K.L. slater binge.

This was a fast twisty read. That ending! OMG. That ending.

I’ve been hooked listening to this book all day and reluctantly had to switch it off a couple of times as someone in the family wanted to speak to me! Just call me antisocial.

This book will stay with me for some time I think.

Great plot. Fab read.

Now I love K.L Slater and have read and highly rated many of them so was really excited for this one especially after seeing the cover. The authors covers always grab my attention and this one didn't disappoint in that way.

Unfortunately this one just didn't work for me 🙄. I found the characters quite one dimensional and couldn't connect with them at all and as for Josie, in all honesty she just confused me!

I couldn't get to grips with the twists either, they just seemed to produce more questions and when revelations were made they felt like they'd been dropped from nowhere.

This hasn't put me off K.L Slater, the standards she has always set so highly is maybe what has made this one less appealing to me!

I'll put this one down as the author having an off day 😝

2.5*

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.

Missing is an amazing thriller, it had me wanting to keep reading, I absolutely loved the twist and turns, I would highly recommend this book.

Missing starts off back in 1993, where 8 year old Jimmy is running, scared of someone chasing him. He ends up being locked in an old fridge by Samual next door, inside a disused factory where he suffocates to death. It was a very tense opening for sure, I was hooked straight away!

Years later Jimmy’s older sister Josie is scared. Her 8 year old daughter Ivy has gone missing. Guess who has recently been released from prison and is back for revenge. Yes, you guessed it, Samual.

Full of unexpected twists and turns, you are drawn into Josie’s life and how intimidated she feels by Samual’s presence. It’s a completely believable story and that makes it even more frightening!

K.L.Slater has not let us down with this one. A highly recommended read, one you won’t be able to put down!

You can always rely on KL Slater to tell a great story. And in Missing, she really piles on the tension. Trying to make a new start after her divorce, Josie is shaken when she discovers the man who killed her younger brother when she was just 13. She knows that Samuel Barlow was obsessed with her then and can only hope his 30 years in prison spelt the end of that... but then her young daughter goes missing. She knows Samuel has taken her and is sure history is about to repeat itself.

This is a great story, but a little bit predictable. That aspect isn't helped by the synopsis revealing too much! But overall, I really enjoyed this. A solidly hood page turner.

Someone closes the door......Jimmy dies ....

Years later, Jimmy's sister, Josie, is making a fresh start.
She and her husband have divorced and grown apart

The role of which is somewhat key!

The news that the boy's killer, Samuel, is to be set free
Has Josie Barlow anxious and in misery.
Samuel was the boy who lived next door
But Josie doesn't want to see him any more.

Get ready for a twisted psychological thriller
With a child kidnapped it is a total chiller.
There are insights from the present and before
Leaving you wondering and wanting to know more.

Who took this young child - and why?
Is it something Samuel would now try?
Why does his Mum think she can help find her now?

A page turner read that keeps you enthralled
Making you feel totally appalled
Hoping this time the child will soon be found
Both safe and sound....

A story so full of unexpected twists
With shocking revelations not to be missed.
A family drama where so many are flawed
And so many lies can't be ignored!

For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
A fascinating read and this is my honest review.

I didn’t love it as much as her other books but I think that’s based on me and I’m falling out of love with thrillers. Her writing is spot on and it’s always a gripping read so would definitely recommend as an author

Another great story from the marvellous KL Slater!

Josie has spent her life running away from her past after her beloved younger brother, Jimmy, was killed by her neighbour, Samuel Barlow, when Josie was just 13 years old, Samuel was convicted of murder and sentenced to 30 years in prison. Fast forward to the current day and after divorcing her husband Josie is finally starting to feel settled and happy in a small village running her own business, a little dessert café and looking after her 8-year-old daughter Ivy. However, Josie’s world is suddenly turned upside down when she receives a call saying that Samuel is being released from prison 5 years early and will be living just 10 miles from her and Ivy. A few days after the dreaded release day he suddenly turns up at her café as menacing as ever and Josie is rattled. 2 days later Ivy goes missing from the childminders….. Josie is terrified history is repeating itself. who has taken Ivy and why? And most importantly will Josie get her back?!

KL Slater always weaves a brilliant tale and I always know when I pick up one of her books, I will enjoy it and I certainly did enjoy this one! The suspense and intrigue had me hooked by chapter 7 and desperate to read at any opportunity to see what would happen next. I really liked the great plot twist at about halfway through the story which left my mouth gaping, it’s always a sign of a good story when I’m left saying to myself “what! What did I just read?!”. I did figure out the twist at the end of the book, but it, in no way, ruined my enjoyment of the story at all.

I would definitely recommend this for fans of psychological thrillers and if you haven’t ever read a book by KL Slater, I really recommend you do as you won’t regret it. I can’t wait to see what she comes out with next.

Thank you to NetGalley, KL Slater and Bookouture books for my advanced reading copy. Out now.

Thanks to Bookouture, KL Slater and NetGalley for the ARC of Missing,

I am a big fan of K.L Slater's writing style and have read a number of her other titles. This one didn't disappoint.

Josie's brother died tragically when she was a teenager, locked in a walk-in freezer and found when it was too late. Samuel Barlow was sent to prison for his murder.

Soon after his release, he turns up and tracks Josie down. She is convinced he is plotting something when her daughter disappears. It can't be coincidence can it, what does Samuel want and where has he taken her daughter?

With great twists and reveals, and suspense and tension that will have you reading just one more page before bed, this one kept me guessing throughout. Loved it.

Not my favorite book by this author. Too many POV and time period leaps made it confusing. Although, very good twists.
